Thinking about this 388 now. Why so much love for this small head? Can it really be so long.

Almost everybody apparently buys The 388 for The solid feel and workability The design promises. And then almost everybody is blown away by The DISTANCE and even level of forgiveness it delivers. Kinda like my experience with the Mizuno 611 craft. Really want to try the 388...

I still keep my old R510tp, and every time I take it out for a round, I hit it really good, no issues with forgiveness at all, and it feels just solid. I always thought it was some kind of weird nostalgia behind that, but now I use the craft 611, and the 388 is all the rage here..Seems like a cc of around 400 is ideal for many people when it come to drivers? It almost feels easier to hit a compact driver straight, for me at least. Easier to aim too for some reason.

While the driver does offer some level of forgiveness, it is a players driver. It is not even close to a

Ryoma like forgiveness.

If you need a forgiving driver I'd buy something else.

this driver is about workability and distance in a smaller package with reasonable forgiveness

for it's size.

In it's stock form I get longer and straighter shots with the T.388 over just about anything else I've tried and because of that I think it's a very forgiving head. Compared to the Ryoma it's got imo less spin and an equally penetrating trajectory both at 9.5.

The Ryoma will have more space on the face but I have a feeling that if you were to draw a zone a couple of balls wide that the T.388 would be just as forgiving as the Ryoma within that area. Just a hunch.

I would agree, and that's the design breakthrough, IMO. Misses high or low on the face can be compensated for by tee height (if the misses are consistent). But heel to toe forgiveness is what I think K's rib design in the head promotes. It's subtle, but I think it's what produces the surprise smile on mis-hits that still go pretty straight and long.

One question though -- I forget, is this a limited edition club or will it stay in production?

i thought with my very limited time with it so far its actually not bad at forgiveness. i missed my fair share of centre shots the other day and the ball strayed pretty darn true form the face. regardless of my withering old swing deteriorating.

the good shots were really good ,adn the bad ones were pefectly accpetable.

wundt put it in ryomas class.........................................yet......

but i had a lot better bad shats with this than the zero with same shaft

going down a weight in the diamana X/zero buil;d made a huge differnce. to consistancy tho.

an easier shaft in the s-yard would make this sing i believe.

looks like u can work it as wll.

really liking the smaller head.

going to play it again tomoorrw at old orchard.

see how she blows there. u NEED very good driving accurayc and distance to have a chance at scoring well there.

this is its acid test....

im prediciting it will come up trumps
