Exhaloprez
Hi, I am a 15 capper (only playing 2-3x a month) and I am playing the Epon 702 irons. Saw and fell in love with the Yururi Flat Black irons. As far a forgiveness, am I going out on the limb? Thx for your insight.
Ian-500
I'm a 16 hcp and I play blades. They suit my eye better. My bad shot is fat or thin, so the extra forgiveness a GI club gives you is no good to me. I say go for it :)
Duffer19
If you are a 15 capper and only play 2 to 3 times a month, you would be lucky to keep your game at all. I play 2 to 3 times a week and find that I can just barely maintaining my handicap. IMO, you would really be out on the limb in the forgiving department with the flat black. Stay with the 702 and you would have more fun with golf.
+TourSpecGolfer
That's a big difference in size and forgiveness for sure. I understand why you like the flat backs as many others do as well. I do think you could come down in size to something smaller than the 702 as well as play the flat back. That way if the blade gets naughty you can play something in between until any issues sort themselves out.
Duffer19
Do not buy clubs because it looks good. Take a page from Tario, buy something you can actually play and have fun. I would be losing my shirt every time with wagers if I play with blades and long irons.
ukok
I play less than you but was determined to buy a set of Miura 1957 blades, loved them, played with them for 6 months and then saw sense. Get it out your system, its the only way.

Get it out your system, its the only way. THAT may be the most honest and profound bit of advice i've heard on a golf forum. sometimes you just gotta find out for yourself. Ian-500
Don't listen to any of these guys, you play whichever irons you're most comfortable with. I played 18 with a friend of mine this afternoon. We're both 16hcp. He plays with Adams Redline + Attas T2 reg flex compared to me with Srixon Pro 100 + Roddio SX flex. I hit my 8i about 150. His 8i is about 120. I hit his 8i the same as mine, but he tried mine and duffed it 80yds to the left. He said he was scared when he addressed the ball with mine, and I felt that I had a small shovel in my hand when I tried his!
MoreBeerBetterGolf
This could be one of the biggest iron changes ever. I wouldn't predict success but you never know.
DaleUK
Buy, try and If no good let them fly!!!
swisstrader
You will hate yourself. If you have cash to burn and the desire, go right ahead, but the blacks are very tough for ANYONE to hit, let alone a higher handicap.
Duffer19
Look good and feel good is one thing but its your score that counts especially the $20 Nassau on the line.
reapl
702 to 302 would be more of a "natural" transition. They are a lot smaller, more workable but still VERY playable. I bet you will have a lot more fun with a players cavity. Could be you hit some of the hardest to hit blades with x-stiff shafts fine as well, I just doubt it. Do whatever you feel like, I bought stupid stuff as well, just would be happy if it wasn´t so much. ;) But don´t sell your 702 too early, you might regret it if the new irons aren´t what you expected. Exhaloprez
Thanks for the advice gents. I think I will pass on the iron set...however love their wedges and will play the 49, 53 and 57.
xerobound
I think you can work in the wedges first if anything. As for irons I think going with something smaller than the 702 would be a good way to work into the muscle back irons. Maybe try a smaller cavity back first:) You can prepare for the muscle backs! gocchin
Do not buy clubs because it looks good. Take a page from Tario, buy something you can actually play and have fun. I would be losing my shirt every time with wagers if I play with blades and long irons. Thanks R for quoting me... yes... I am always tempted by all the wonderful clubs here in Japan and honestly I could play any club if I wanted to. But my game would go down the tubes. I have no problems sticking to what works for me even if it is not the most beautiful or sexy because in the end we all want to have fun and get better at golf and playing a club beyond your level makes it considerably harder to do that. Tats made a good suggestion above, transition from the 702 to say the ONOFF Forged and work you handicap and skill down to a smaller CB then blade.
