Geotech GT Forged W-213T Wedge review

Have never tried Geotech equipment before but as the S-Yard Bold wedges are taking a lifetime to ship, thought why not, especially as the price is crazy low compared to nearly all other JDM wedges.

Handily, a friend of mine was in Japan and purchased a 56 and 60 degree heads for me. My fitter has matched them to my ONOFF's which flow to perfection (Modus 3, 120).

The heads are medium to compact in size, the top edge is slightly larger than, I was expecting mainly because it is almost squared off. The quality is up there with the best, if not better.

The feel of the face is soft and smooth and the resultant spin excellent. The compact shape makes the heads very versatile from different lies and shots.

Apart from the top edge, I cannot fault them, they are superb and when you consider their price, it is a no brainer. If they were made by Yamaha/Epon/Yururi, et al, everyone would be raving about them.

They really are that good.

Do, I cancel the S-Yard Bold? yes!

Yes! It's compact, It feels freaken fantastic, spins proper and is difficult to find fault with. Top edge for me was fine I would like it if the head were just a hair bigger. Not vokey forged sized, smaller and somewhere in between. I guess Toyoshima sized would be perfect.

They are also producing more clubs using S15C like the Quelot Neo blade and the new LTD Forged CB forged in Japan.

I want more members to try this wedge so for the next 2 days $89.00 + shipping to anyone with more than 100 posts.

Just email [email protected]

btw have we ever told you guys about TADO-san Geotech's lead designer? He's pretty amazing especially when you look at Geotech's drivers and how well they perform for the price.

why does JDM wedge often doesn't add 54 degree to their wedge line up.

As a matter of a fact a lot of customers ask this and its because the Japanese consumer apparently doesn't demand a 54*. I think its great for every wedge to offer 2* increments in lofts for all their models but most Japanese golfers seem to do 52 + 58 or 50 + 56 or 50 + 56 + 60 as the most common makeups.

Besides the stock PW (45 to 46*), I actually carry a 50, 54 and 58 which I think covers everything. Titleist forged offers the best range. Would have order the S Yard Bold in 54 but unfortunately it wasn't offered.

yeah, my stock pw is 46 which is perfect for 100m range. my other wedge are 50 (8 bounce), 56 (12 bounce) bend to 54, and 58 (11 bounce). if i these geotech wedge, will bending loft affect the grind performance?

One word can describe the performance of the Geotech W-213T Wedge....Awesome! I found this Wedge to be a real performer for me because of the compact head design and the proper placement of the Center of Gravity to better control the trajectory. One small tweak that premier design engineer Tado - san did was to design a hosel that is slightly ridged from the face and 1/2 way up the long hosel. These ridges are positioned down the target line and seem to give the face stability when hitting down on the ball from a tight lie. These ridges are a first that I can remember but make perfect sense when hitting precision shots to reduce any torque of the head itself. I am looking forward to more uses of this neat hosel design tweak by Tado - san.

The use of S15C in this forging is remarkable and feels soft yet responsive. It will be interesting to see how well it wears from heavy use.

The sole is well thought out, as well, with the Special Grind to make this a very versatile shot maker. I used an 8 Iron Shaft to further enhance the control of the trajectory and control of those "less" than full Wedge shots. The W-213T really seems to like the combo by helping me pinch the ball for distance control and spin. Geotech has another winner with the W-213T Wedge.

i just got a couple of these wedges and here are some of my thoughts:

58*

  • bought head only and when shafted it was 5* upright. took a ton of bending to get to -2* but the club bent very easily.
  • shafted with TT spinner +
  • 2 full rounds and a couple range sessions later i can say that this is one of the most versatile clubs i have used. i originally thought that the bounce of the club would be too low but after countless flops, bunker shots, knock downs on the practice area and on the course, i have come to really appreciate its versatility.
  • i have not taken any full shots with this club.
  • spin is excellent but it is brand new so this may change.

49*

  • shafted with TT s200.
  • awesome trajectory on full and half shots. high launching shots just stop on the green.
  • half shots are very controllable.
  • i was able to open the face of the 49* to some degree. this really improves its versatility and i get a smooth, easy transition when the clubhead hits the turf

in general, the feel of these wedges are spectacular and at the price, are without a doubt an absolute steal. i currently have the 2012 WC miura 52 (bent to 54) and for about half the price the geotechs are just as good.
