scottyebs
Hi guys, A little help if you can...I currently have Mizuno MP60's which have served me incredibly well for years, absolutely love them however they are getting a little worn - more or less in the centre of the face ;) I've started looking for a replacement and I really like the look of the Tourstage 709 MC. Problem is, I'm in Sydney, Australia and I can't find anywhere that has them to have a look, let alone have a hit. I can get my hands on Bridgestone J40 CBs which seem to be the closest thing to the 709s. Can anyone shed a little light on how these two compare/differ? Is there any difference in the actual quality of the clubs i.e. are bridgestone made in the same place as the tourstage? Also, the bridgestone are about half the price...so I guess it boils down to this: if I try and enjoy the bridgestones, will the tourstage offer me any extra feel/performance etc that would justify the price tag? One more little curve ball while I'm at it...apart from the obvious customisation options, would a Mizuno MP64 from yoro craft feel significantly different from the 64s I can demo from my local rep?? Thanks guys!
JayDM
Bridgestone usually offers the previous year's TS players cavity back with different stamping and possibly a slightly different grind(not sure about that), you wont find any Bridgestone MB's because the Tourstage MB's are limited and sell out.... You probably wont be able to find any TS clubs outside of Japan that you can demo, its rare to find any JDM club outside of Japan to demo, that's just kinda the way it goes mate, you sacrifice the ability to try the clubs out before hand to play absolutely top quality gear. A Yoro set of Mizunos will only feel different if you tweak the clubs, finish will have some effect on feel, and if you have them grind the clubs differently they will feel different, but if you order a Yoro set with a stock finish, grind and specs and just add your initials, then I would imagine they would feel basically the same.... supo
tourtage clubs in japan are totally differnmt to the bridgetone ones. ive neve see nay bridgestone clubs in japan. all the models guys talk about iam clueless about. ive got plenty of tourstage clubs too 701 are superb clubs. u wotn find any demos in sdyneyd except taylor made, callway ,mizuno. unfortunatly the shops dont /wont look at JDM stuff. but all the staff want to hit them they are tied to the giants unfortuantly. wheneever i take mine in to tweak at drummonds the guys go all weak at hte knees. the 709s are a beaut set, they were i nthe final with the idls for me , and the less offset of the pr-grs gotthe nod for me this time. Take a holiday in Thailand, amongst others.... plenty of places to get Tourstage clubs including Mb's obviously... and demo them at All Star Driving Range... along with PRGR, Epon, Yamaha, Honma and the usual suspects. Or you could do some food shopping at Fuji supermarket on Soi Phriompong and get yourself a set of Tourstage clubs there - they have a Tstage shop in the supermarket.... Or demo at RCA driving range. Or go to Thaniya plaza. Or Paragon department store downtown Bangkok. ps the Bridgestone's are alsocvery good.

Haven't ever seen anyplace in the US I can demo JDM gear which is really what I was referring to, my mistake, never been to Thailand. The Bridgestone J40's are the previous TS 705 Type M, theyre great clubs, I have them...
+TourSpecGolfer
It's smart of Bridgestone to re use these designs because many of them are under appreciated and sometimes it just takes a new coat for everyone to see the light, The J40's are a good example of that. coops1967
That Bstone J40 would be excellent. I tried to find Bstone gear when i was over in the US in Pennsylvania... didn't see any of their gear, irons or drivers etc, at all... anywhere. I was hoping to get a look at and buy the 430cc driver they had out. Seemed to have woeful distribution/ marketing, which is a shame. Cannot honestly believe they will truly change the Tourstage name in Japan and Asia.
JayDM
Its not impossible to get Bridgestone gear here in the US, but its much more difficult than other large brands, a lot of the big box stores don't carry them and most places that do have to order them.... Its surprising considering how fantastic the gear is and how large the corporation behind them.

And they already have a major presence in these stores with their range of balls, but can't get distribution for the clubs? Bizarre.
