October 28, 201311 yr Author comment_216135 Here are sole pics... great grinds on all the soles with leading edge and trailing edge relief but a bit on the busy side with all the text. Always in order of 709CB 709MC 909MB One thing TS does know how to do is trying hard at making better players happy, that means less offset and boxier sharper head shapes. I have to shoot these again as the 709MC was out of focus, I reshot it, but the lighting was different but you get an idea.
October 28, 201311 yr Author comment_216136 Impressions. After going outside with the irons and seeing them in the sunlight, the finish is indeed a noticeable darker chrome. The models are nothing new but rather this years irons, the 709CB, 709MC and 909MB thrown together as a combo set, with slight changes to aesthetics and stamped limited. Each model was a strong performer already in its own rights but Tourstage decided there was enough demand to throw the 3 together, the CB in 3 4 5 the MC in 6 7 8 and the MB in 9 and PW. These do work well together, the longer faced MC for the long irons excel in getting the ball in the air and are the largest of the 3 irons. The MC a combination of feel, distance and control and the MB control and stability for attacking the pin. I think some people would have been happy with the CB or MC in 3 4 5 6 and the MB in 7 8 9 PW. Feel wise its typical Tourstage, firm but soft. Overall nice irons and for those who want a combo set definitely an option. It seems many do as demand for these are through the roof in Japan and we are even having a hard time getting them as big golf chain stores are monopolizing stock. We'll be lucky if we can get a couple or 3 sets even.
October 28, 201311 yr Author comment_216144 Are they the same finish as the standard sets T? They are a dark chrome vs standard chrome in the non limited, but in the sunlight they don't look that much darker. It is a subtle difference though I don't have the originals here to compare side by side so I'm going by memory.
October 28, 201311 yr comment_216165 I actually prefer the normal 909MB. The extra milling/stamping on the back, those lines that make a V are not on the original. I Think those make the back a little too busy compared to the simplicity of the initial release...
October 28, 201311 yr comment_216172 The original 909 looks a little less busy, but it´s a gorgeous combo set nonetheless.
October 28, 201311 yr Author comment_216173 They are definitely too busy... wait till you see the soles!
October 30, 201311 yr comment_216297 u know what that is so over done in every possible way............ iactualyl like it!
October 30, 201311 yr comment_216300 The darker finish looks nice, wonder how they look after some use.
October 30, 201311 yr Author comment_216301 The darker finish looks nice, wonder how they look after some use. They should look the same as they are plated that way. Unless you use them so much that you wear through the plating.
October 30, 201311 yr comment_216303 Kinda the golf club equivalent of a nascar drivers jacket! I do like the concept though. Cleaning debris from the sole would be a pain...
October 30, 201311 yr comment_216306 I think they look sweet...but I do agree that the sole is a little busy.
October 31, 201311 yr comment_216317 I played a couple rounds with the CB recently, fantastic set of irons.
January 12, 201411 yr comment_219297 Saw a photo on WRX from the Sony Open where somebody had these Limiteds in his bag.
January 15, 201411 yr comment_219382 Are these still available for purchase? Is there any way to get the 4-6 in the MC and the 7-PW as the MB (so no CB)? If not, what would a set of these go for as is? Edit 1/17- Anyone??? Edited January 17, 201411 yr by pearls24
