Miuramaniac
So I wanna see what all the hubbub about the Gold's putters is so I need to find out the best way to get one. Don't really want used so new it is I guess. How do you start? Have TSG make me one? Or send mine in to get "GF'd"? I have a Scotty Cameron and it's really nice, the black one with the 3 red dots on the back, Anser style. I really like it but it's just so….well, American. Haven't had anything USDM in the bag besides this putter for years. So how do you get one made?
+TourSpecGolfer
You contact Tario. Thats the best way hands down. Customizing your favorite putter is pretty bad ass as well.

tokidoki1986
You should go ahead and contact Tario, I did contact him a couple month ago to discuss with him about my first GF as well. Even though I'll picking up my first GF putter at the factory myself in a couple days my second GF is already designed and ready to be order. Craig
Having done both, several times, I think it is just a matter of preference. Either way, the end result is one where attention to detail is paramount. Having seen them work first hand, i know why they are so expensive and also why there is quite a wait. I personally would send in your old favourite, because when you get it back you just go wow. The only comment I would make is that your choice of milling makes a huge difference to how the putter feels, performs and even sounds. Duffer19
So Craig, what is the best milling by Gold's in your opinion?
Craig
Hi mate. I knew it would be you to ask the tough question. I have the most experience with the premium milling. I think it is the softest of them and also seems to get the ball rolling immediately. The horizontal milling sits somewhere in between but much closer to the PZ than flat. Going to the flat surface with absolutely no milling is very difficult. The feel is much harsher and the sound is much different. It makes you think you must stroke it much firmer. My choice would be the PZ milling as I like that really soft feel. Something my wife is used to these days. If you wanted to really feel like you were hitting the ball then the flat surface. The horizontal sits in between and I think it would be preferred by most people. With my refurbs, the biggest differences in feel has come from going to the PZ milling from whatever. Hopefully others can chime in here as well as I think it is a big choice to make, especially when we are paying the big bucks, like for a Golds
wmclarenf1
For me, I have tried the new gen PZ mill, the original shallow face mill and the original horizontal PZ mill. I find the last mill type the best and went for that for my GS Mono tune-up.

+TourSpecGolfer
Wow that's a nice piece. Exactly what milling is this? Sasaya can also make thinner milling higher on the face going deeper on the lower portion.

Craig
Since last week, when asked which Milling was my favourite, i have really been thinking hard about it. Was not really something that in all honesty I had given a lot of thought to. So, since then I hve had a bit of a puttathon with all the different putters and millings that I have. I really like the premium milling. New PZ I think it is called. It is just so soft feeling and the ball just seems to just blend in with the face. Whether it is mind over matter or not, but it seems that I need a lesser stroke for the same distance than the other 2 types of Golds milling that I have. The flat face ie no milling is certainly a significant difference to the premium or horizontal milling. It is much harsher you really need to hit it. The sound, well you know when contact is made. Flat face with a sound slot. Thats an idea For me, the new PZ wins Hands down.

The latter gives more feedback for ME.
Craig
Yeah mate the multi directional. Everythin these days is premium this, premium that, or even tour premium prototype, that I struggle to really remember whats what.

RLL33
I second what Craig says about the PZ milling (multi-direction). I had a precious old Yamada that I didn't think could feel any better, but when refinished by Golds, it came back astoundingly soft and precise, not to mention beautiful -- even better than when the putter was new. You can feel the artistry each time the face makes contact with the ball, almost like it wants to hand deliver it to the hole. ;=]
Miuramaniac
Thanks for all the info, guys! But as I expected, there's too much ish to think about as far as PZ Premium or horizontal or multi this and that for me to be able to make a decision. Probably just gonna stick with the boring old Cameron. Maybe I'll write in "-San" after Cameron on the bottom of it and I'll feel better about it. +TourSpecGolfer
What do you want to feel? we can make suggestions based on that. I think it would be very cool to create a Cameron-San putter. If you don't do it do you mind if I do?
