Posted December 13, 201311 yr comment_218151 For those of you that have switched wedge shafts to the WV series, did you keep - or can you reccommend - keeping the swingweight the same as the shaft being replaced? Or do they respond better at lighter swingweights? Before pulling the DG Wedge shaft from 50 Wilson Staff Tour TC the club measured D3 on the swingweight scale. The WV will be + 1/2" longer than the DG it replaces: With the WV an 8 gram tip weight is needed to get to D3. Sounds ok, psychologically it just seems weird as there was no tip weight in the DG shaft, just a crapload of epoxy in the shaft. Just measured the weight of each shaft with Lamkin REL wedge grip installed (no head): WV115 is 4 grams lighter than DG wedge, even thought it's 1/2" longer. I'm playing shaft roulette with these as while I enjoy the wedges, the shafts have absolutely no feel. Thanks in advance!
December 13, 201311 yr comment_218152 so whats the problem? dont enjoy it or just playing mental gymnastics with specs? you should have gotten the WV 125 which is closer in weight than your DG. these are top notch shafts though i like them a lot.
December 13, 201311 yr comment_218156 i presume got the 110 or 115 what ever they are instead of the 125. so by playing them longer ull prob find they will give u less distance and more spin and they will go MUCH higher on the same shot as with a DG, esp as they are lighter. the wv are top class wedge shafts. id stick a bit of a tip weight in but not go too mad , or repalce them wit hte 125 an u can play th em identical... sell lem and get the 125s my answer
December 13, 201311 yr Author comment_218174 Thanks guys - yes Spoon, I was experiencing a case of mental gymnastics as I sat at the workbench (my asylum) w/ an adult beverage in hand. I forgot that an extra 1/2" in length will move sw down 2 points, so we're at a 6 oz tip weight to get to D3, which sounds reasonable. The WV115 shafts were purchased as pulls from a local shop. For the pair, I paid a little less than retail for one shaft & the fellow threw in two new Lamkin wedge grips......pretty much a slam dunk no brainer to at least give them a try. The 115's are similar in weight to the Nippon 1050's in my irons, so I figured why not?

January 15, 201411 yr Author comment_219364 I've had only a few opportunities to spend quality time with the wedges since reshafting; overall, pretty pleased. As the shaft & swing weights are similar to my irons I don't feel like I have to manufacture a "wedge swing", just hit it like I would a mid or short iron. Gaps seem more consistent, but I'll need to check with a rangefinder to be certain. The ball does fly higher; it holds it's line just fine. More time is needed, hopefully the weather will cooperate in the next few weeks. I might dabble with a WV125 later on, but so far, there's no downside in the switch from the DG to the WV115.

May 13, 201410 yr comment_224985 Does the WV115 has a heavier butt - sort of counter balanced shaft? It says in their website " additional weight in the grip for full head control" I too experienced a swing weight drop for my wedges compared to my irons PW & #9 in Modus 3.
