mygreenaliem
Ok, I have put Diamana X X stiff (60g) in Ryoma maxima type D 10.5 deg - I really like the feel of set up and the shaft BUT the spin rate is too high and therefore I am losing distance. I can spank it 280 but it's not consistent and trakman confirmed this. Is the spin rate due to the head or the shaft? Thing is I really like the feel of the shaft. Therefore, any of you bright fellows got any suggestions?
Spoon
I can assure you its not the shaft. Dont know about the head have not hit it. Maybe moving up to a heavier shaft in same Flex will bring spin down.
mygreenaliem
^ what about putting the shaft in say TP7 Nitro?
Spoon
^ what about putting the shaft in say TP7 Nitro? Well one of my main gamers is a nitro 10* diamana x 60s Was a bit soft but trajectory and spinnwere ok. Reshafting with a 757 In stiff flex. Il update results soon. Arent you hooked on crazies carl? +TourSpecGolfer
I've tinkered with a lot with Maxima's and found it needs shafts that really keep the spin down and dispersion tight, extra weight helps too I found. Interestingly the stock shaft works well too but I'm sure you would manhandle it. If you plan to part ways with that head another option is to take this shaft you love and try it in a more deeper face head, currently I rotate between Maxima & xXx but I've also got my eye on some new drivers like the Jbeam 535 440 coming so, the Modart MA01D driver, Kamui Works Air built custom, SYB Prelity 7. Just a few new options to toss into the mix.
igotya
I tried DiamanaX 70X with CRZ435 10*, it didn't work well. In my experience, DiamanaX seems to make more spin and balooning compared to former setting (TJ-80 7.4). Diamana felt softer than TJ-80, while it was little bit heavier. Whenever I hit the ball hard, the ball rose up high though the line was very straight. To keep the ball low, I tried to swing with more relaxed tempo, and? The loss of distance. I think more stout feeling shaft would be helpful to you. How about TRPX X-line 65 SX or X, Crazy TJ80?
mygreenaliem
^^^ - thanks for the feedback guys. I tried the XXX shafts before the X-line came out so may well give it a go. I was also thinking about trying the Maxima in a lower loft.
supo
maxima with diamana W. WILL sort that out immediatly. only thing being its nto as nice a shaft and the fele is very tingy, BUT that head shaft combo are made for each other, thye just dont feel great. that will save the head if u like it. the diamana X is NOT...............NOT a high spin shaft. the numbers on trackman i got with that shaft in an epon 102 vs about 10 other shafts was significantly lower than everything else. its not the shaft saying that, u can def go to 70s NO probs. and u will hit lower for sure. ive got all the flex 60x-70s-70x..... the 60 x can go higher bec its light. pretty sure if u go heavier ull be fine or try more heads! Bobby jones
Instant fix, assuming you are OK going with non JDM is the SLDR...especially if you struggle with too much spin. I cut my spin numbers in half with this driver. Edited April 9, 2014 by Bobby jones
