+TourSpecGolfer
Fresh off the grind the 2014 Buchi Global Launch Edition. TSG announced Buchi well over a year ago and at the time the brands design and shape catered to the tastes of Japan. Over the last year we had customers purchase Tabuchi-san's custom grind wedges and while I was not a big fan at first , the comments began to roll in. Customers were claiming the Buchi custom wedge as the best feeling and most versatile they have ever played and that caught my attention as some of these guys play it all. Since then we have gone through a half dozen prototypes all variants of what our customers requested until it became a blend of sorts. The result is a wedge that not only looks stunning but feels unreal and most importantly performs for a wide group players. We tested in the rain, in the desert, and from a variety of sand conditions to create a wedge that we think has few rivals. Release is in June and it all kicks off with a limited 4 wedge set 50/54/58/62* lofts called the global launch editions. Only 10 of these sets will be made. In regards to price Buchi is an excellent value, these global models cost the same as the custom wedges! That's pretty unheard of now days. So if you want something already prepared you can go with these, if you have custom requests and don't mind waiting the cost is no different. Only the limited sets will demand a premium and for good reason, a new additional mold needed to be created to make it happen. Stay tuned for more info and the official release announcement. akapur
This looks very similar to my Buchi custom order from last year. Just stunning in its simplicity. I feel the buchi wedges are the most versatile wedges in the JDM world. My 52 can be used in a number of ways from an alarmingly large number of conditions. Wether the lie is tight or lush the Buchi will do its job very well. The only drawback is how long it takes to get the wedges done, but they are worth the wait. Yes just like yours, everyone says the same thing about buchi wedges. I call his wedges "smooth" because they seem to slide through turf like no other. One of the test wedges had more offset than the others, that wedge was absolutely automatic and tops in my book, making me think we don't praise offset enough sometimes. We ended up going with the less offset version. By the way, I'm looking at your signature its just stunning the clubs you play. Bravo Mr. Bravo! Chris I agree the Buchi are excellent wedges, they actually knocked out the crazy wedges because the Buchi's are more versatile. My collection continues to grow, Tario has had a hand in recommending great clubs that have worked out very well for me.
Craig
I concur. The Buchi irons are as good if not better than anything else I have hit. They are worth the wait. The wedges are also a great performer, although I have not used them in enough different conditions to rate them as high. They are certainly very good butnthe Crazy's take some beating. I think I made an error in the shafting of my Buchis. I have the same shafts in the hybrid, driving irons, irons and wedges. Should have got dedicated wedge shafts, for my 52,56 and 60 as I find they dont have the dancing prowess of the Crazys. However I do think they are more versatile, just dont quite have the stopping power of the Crazys. Other than that, they are top shelf. +TourSpecGolfer
Thanks Craig, we are starting to find that some pressed grooves dull after plating and face blasting and one way to insure mucho spin is to order the option of CNC milled face and grooves, it's not a cheap option but gives you micro face milling and grooves that are really sharp. conforming - non conforming - and super non conforming grooves are all options. Chris I agree the Buchi are excellent wedges, they actually knocked out the crazy wedges because the Buchi's are more versatile. My collection continues to grow, Tario has had a hand in recommending great clubs that have worked out very well for me. That's funny all three of us went from Toyoshimas to Buchi's. NS really accentuate the feel of quality heads where s DG just kill it, why they cant make a decent feeling shaft is beyond me. and why comapnies keep putting that DG toilet crap in as thier stock shaft is an insult to the head! vanla01
Chris, How much is the set of buchi wedges going for?
+TourSpecGolfer
Chris, How much is the set of buchi wedges going for? Around $250 custom is pretty much the same price the only difference is wait time, we are still waiting for the global editions to arrive and half are already spoken for. We are trying to get ahead of the delay but it's proving difficult. These are to be listed this week in the proshop.
akapur
It's not that pricey, get in touch with Tario tell him if you want one of these global editions or a custom one. It's pretty much the same price the only difference is wait time... that said we are still waiting for the global editions to arrive and half are already spoken for. We are trying to get ahead of the delay but it's proving difficult. These are to be listed this week in the proshop. I would suggest if you are looking for a great wedge to give these a try especially if you can bypass the regular wait time. tokidoki1986
I think I must schedule my visit to Japan for a custom fitting at Buchi very soon.
RLL33
May have to try these some time this year... Sounds more than interesting... Meanwhile, Ash & Stew, think I'll try that NS wv shaft right now. Thx for mentioning it.
