smstef
Hello Guys I have a question for you , I have to fill a gap in my bag between my 5i 703 and my 4 wood egg spoon . I'm currently having a PRGR egg ut in 21 but it's too close to the 703 in distance , maybe 5 meters. I was thinking of taking a 901 in 19 , but don't know if i should go for a hybrid . I use to have miura HB which were really nice . Played also 903 in 20 which was really good but not forgiving enough for me . So I don't know , epon 901 ( playable from the rough ? ) , Miura 20, epon 203 18 , so many options. I have to say that I don't know what to take , and would really apreciate your advice or comments Thanks Stephane
mpbachman
For that distance, you will need something that you are comfortable off the tee (for those long par 3s), off tight lies into pins, and out of the rough. Instead of something like a 5W or 7W, I would go with a hybrid and from that perspective, its all about look, sole interaction and profile (i.e. you can go from something like the Ryoma to the A-Grind - very different profiles) and shafts will also be very important depending upon what your current swing does and what you are looking for (height and left/right, etc). BTW, I have owned a 903, JBeam/Crazy, Romaro, Ryoma, Modart, A-Grind, etc, so further questions are welcomed!
chiromikey
When I first took up the game I was given a set of clubs by my soon to be father in law. Those clubs included a 7w and it was by far the easiest club I've ever played. Off the tee on par 3s, out of fairways, in the rough, or even bunkers...it didn't matter. I'd probably still be playing it today if he hadn't taken it back because he saw how easy it was to use from 180-200yds.
Ian-500
Agree with 7w
Eca
I use the Miura hb20. Face sets up like iron, tall enough for the rough to remove the fear of getting right under. Have to try the 7w route one day.
supo
7w was terrfic i had one beauty last season, but it went too far for the par 3s so i had to shorten it to a drivining iron which is irrealcbale now. depends on what u like hitting,, woods or irons. persoanlly i love irons so the DI suits me better, but the 7w from all surrounds is the perfect go to club. Ian-500
Yamaha i.f.f Tour model and Yamaha V series are 20*. OnOff plus or the newer Type-s are 20* too.
Chanaa
guess it depends if u want accuracy or distance. I think DIs have come a long way in terms of ease of use. I had the same dilemma for 190-200m range, especially for those tough par 3. Both a honma TW-U, no regrets. I hv a hybrid 18deg for distance, the honma for 3-4i replacement. Its equally easy off the deck as well. Actually get better distance as i hit down on it like a normal iron.
