+TourSpecGolfer
The new Beyond Power shaft by Ryoma was something I didn't consider exciting because it's a new part not an entirely new product but I stand corrected because it made a good driver even better. BEYOND POWER by Ryoma Golf is a shaft specially designed to produce the highest smash factor possible. Ryoma offers excellent standard shafts that compliment the Maxima heads even better than aftermarket shafts. This new Beyond Power utilizes a new technology we are seeing used more frequently in the Japan Golf Shaft Industry known as "multi-kick" this allows companies that have used it like Fujikura and Jbeam to produce what Ryoma calls "Infinity Flex" which is supposed to add an average of 2.7mph to your head speed. The Beyond Power Shaft is made by Graphite Design and designed in collaboration with Ryoma's designers, the wildest thing about it is that it works well for golfers who swing as slow as 67mph all the way up to 111mph which is something I have a hard time believing and while we could not find a player who swings that slow we were able to test it from 83mph up to 115mph and surprisingly their claims were accurate. What was shocking is the slower swingers thought it was light and flexible while the fast swingers said it was heavy and firm at impact but how could this be, it's really due to the multi kick, if each kick point flexes in a certain sequence at a particular speed it fires off the next kick point. This has been seen in other long drive shafts like Jbeams ZY-11 has a Yamazaki Pro Shaft that is infinity flex just as Fujikura has their Air Speeder. High handicap ladies can play it and even the faster-swinging scratch golfer can consider this shaft and that's why Ryoma has made it in two lengths, 45.5" and 46.5" and playing it longer does give you a few more yards. Haovictor
Still can't believe there is such a shaft ever existing. From 67SS all the way to 111SS? Have to try it!
Duffer19
So the head is the same as the last maxima model and only difference is the shaft? Does GD makes this spec shaft as a aftermarket? Does the Fuji Air works the same?
needmoregolf
+1 on that thought...does this shaft pair well with other heads and/or do the other multi-kick shafts perform like this one? lastly, how would multi-kick tech compare to the tech going on in 7D shafts? Vegaman
If the shaft lives up to the description, they should consider offering shaft only?
Hutch
I think Yamaha 445D and 460 from 2008 stock shafts were all double kick, have used those before and they worked well.

Does GD makes this spec shaft as a aftermarket? Does the Fuji Air works the same? No difference in any of the heads. This is a shaft release / combo only. If the shaft lives up to the description, they should consider offering shaft only? Yes TSG can install the beyond power shaft into other drivers. I've got experience with the Maxima and it's various versions D/V/G/ST and for me the Beyond Power shaft felt very stable, smooth yet not much kick noticed and besides it's light "actual weight" it felt in the mid 60g range even though it wasn't. bkkgolfer
Can the ST head withstand SS above 100mph? Thought it's not recommended for SS above 100mph.
sgjt4me
It would be so nice that a shaft exist. Would we need a fitter?? I have been to 4-5 fitters and it seems like they all say different things. I don't mind going to fitters. I mind leaving 10 yards or so on the table.!! If the shaft lives up to the description, then a fitter is of course obsolete since there is only the one shaft flex that works for "all" swingspeeds. If you can get only the shaft, put it in your favourite head and swing away. I like this idea a lot, it's like going back in time to when players just got shafts in their club heads, nobody knew what "flex" or even "weight" was. It was like "well, it's steel, I know that much" Edited July 24, 2015 by Vegaman

Staxxx
Chris, do you think this shaft actually augments distance or is a shaft that leans towards providing stability and tight dispersion to a long driving head like the Maxima ST or ZY-11? i.e. does the head to all of the work or does the shaft have certain characteristics that catalyze the head into giving more please? +TourSpecGolfer
Comparing a ZY-11 to a Ryoma Maxima is weird because they are so different, read both reviews to get a better idea. Yamazaki shaft is similar to beyond power but they do make flexes. We have been offering it since release. Shafts like Beyond Power & Yamazaki shaft are company branded so I only suggest playing with that brands heads.
