JDM Driver

Hello. Just had a question for all you aficionados...

I've never had a JDM driver before. I've had more than a dozen JDM iron sets, but never a driver. I was able to snag a Romaro Ray HX460 conforming head from the BST here.I bought this because I currently play Romaro Ray V Type R irons. I have an Aldila ATX Blue shaft here waiting for it. What should I expect? Is this a bomber?

I am coming from a Cobra Fly Z, TEE XCG7, Ping G30 drivers.

Thanks

It will be fun to find out what it does with your swing.

None of us know what it will do for you, especially with an Aldila but make sure you give it a proper run and what I mean by that is:

- Hit 10 shots at the range

- Play a round

- after that round hit another 10 shots at the range and figure out what it's doing and consider why

repeat that cycle at least 2-3 times and if it performs well then great, if it doesn't consider a new shaft or your next step.

remember the performance will depend on the shaft/build/combo and your swing/day

Learning why a club works for you or why it doesn't can save you big $$$ in the future.

JDM wins on feel at impact and looks at address for me. Performance wise not much different.

Current usdm driver I would consider using are the G30 for the unmatched forgiveness and maybe the Vapor for the unique soft muted feel.

not super fond of adjustability or the typical loud graphics of usdm drivers either. Sad to see Bridgestone now following USDM trend with their 815 line with their Gundam like graphics!

I am sure the arithmetic says USDM and JDM drivers perform about the same. Maybe it's all about fit.

But I have now had my JBeam Blackout for 3-4 months with a TRPX Touale shaft and played it a lot. I am past typical honeymoon phase.

As the ad says, 'Pow!'. This is the longest driver I ever owned. Don't know why. Hardly a round goes by when I am playing a course I hadn't played yet with this driver where I don't find myself down the fairway farther than ever before.. Maybe it just works for me and my swing has gotten better. But it is long and straight and consistent. Without a doubt, my favorite driver ever. Almost every round, someone says, "what is your driver?' and want it.

I would agree with the previous posters in regards to feel. JDM just feels, sounds better coming off the face. In my case, I've had two JDM drivers, and they were both not only a better feel, but better performance as well. Currently have a Honma TW717, and love it. Prior to that, I had a Romaro HX460 non-conforming.

I think one of the main issues for me is how I don't feel the need to replace my JDM clubs every season. I have had my Epon and Miura irons for the past 3-4 seasons, and have no intention of replacing them. I have had my Ryoma driver for 2 seasons now. When I bought USDM golf clubs, I felt compelled to buy the latest model every year for some reason.
