nobmontana
Diamana Thump? You know.. I have thought about that as well. Currently working to obtain a used Kuro kage XT80 we'll see if that brings down the trajectory some. Bangvoo 787 should fit the bill nob. Just mine built with a Kamui Work 5w and it was nearly in E swing weight range! Ian, you are a monster! 5W at 43.5inch or somewhere around there? I would love to try a Bangvoo, but those are harder to find.
Phillip Alexander
How does the size of the head compare to an Epon AF 202?
bankbank
looking to build a 14° grandista. what do you chaps recommend. I was looking at the Basi Alpha FW, but heard some things about the red hot and the cost-conscious Evo II FW as well
nobmontana
I think the Basi Alpha is a higher launching shaft. My opinion is that this head is higher launching to begin with, but I can only speak to a 16.5deg 3 wood that I have. For a 14deg head, maybe you would want a higher launching shaft, can't say for sure. for my 16.5 head, I started with a Basi Beta FW but it was a bit spinny and launching higher than expected. So I switched it out with a Kurokage XT 80S. Low spin, Low Launch is how it is supposed to be. Another change I made was the weight screw. Went from the default 4g weight to a 10g weight. Overall head weight is 216g up from 210g I like heavier weight in my FW. I am not entirely sure how this weight change affects trajectory or spin. I did notice that with the heavier weight screw, the sound at impact changed a bit. less sustained "ting" and now a shorter a bit more muted sound which I welcome. I think maybe the 4g and 10g screws are made of different material. 4g is more shiny and 10g is a bit more antique brass looking. +TourSpecGolfer
Your real world feedback helps a lot of members, its all spot on. Yes the 10g is a different material as well.
bankbank
+1 on that. I need something to hit from the tees and also from the deck, but Im a reasonably high fairway wood hitter, so i think 14 would do great for me. Just second thoights on shaft choices, cant try em all :)
robbie
I've played the EvoII 80S in the grandista and i think it pairs well....it hits a normal med ball flight...more of a carry monster than a bullet piercing combo
+TourSpecGolfer
Yup even the 14* flies higher than other 14* which is a very good thing imo.
