New A-GRIND DST Fairway Wood Coming May

Recommended Posts

A-Grind-DST-Fairway-wood.jpg

Scheduled for a May Release A-Grinds new DST has been showing up in a few tour players bags on the JPA tour. It's Ako-san's next gen fairway wood designed for more forgiveness a mid/high trajectory with minimal spin. This is still a better players wood just an easier one to hit when compared to the Original A-Grind Fairway wood.
The head is made of stainless steel 17-4 with a 455SS face that is thinner than his original model for a bit more distance. DST = driving slit tech but to be honest I don't believe and can't find any specific evidence in these types of so called "technologies" no matter what brand is using it. The head comes standard with a 1* open face angle a matte black head and dark chrome finish.
We will have a bunch of heads pre-release date TBA. Official release is May.

This development is intriguing. I've got his RC fairways (the titanium ones) and the first generation A-Grinds in 14, 18, and 21, and to be honest they are all superb, easy to hit and long. It'll be fascinating to hear in more detail what factors he thinks he's isolated to gain even more improvement since for me nothing out there touches his designs

The man is casual - I just asked Ako-san what the deal was on these he says "easier to hit fairway wood for pro player" - that's his factors..lol

Ako-san is a wild genius of club design who is unlike anyone I've ever met in the industry where other brand partners of ours like to have traditional Japan style (black suit) business meetings in a nice office and a secretary keeping the black coffee coming and business cards neatly arranged on the table. Ako-san and I drive around talk story unable to figure out where to eat and end up at Mcdonalds wearing tee shirts and slippers.

14-15-18 is an odd spread of lofts. must be counting on people buying EITHER the 14 or 15...and then an 18 fits in OK.
