The other day a friend of mine got Nakashima NP-R utility clubs with IROD. Don't know if its the shaft, the head or both but it blew away my TM Mid Rescues. Being a club Ho, I ordered a full set of Nakashima Drivers, FW woods, and utility clubs. That's how much I was impressed. Nakashima utility has the round sole that makes it easy to hit from any lie condition. By comparison, Nakashima with IROD was so much more solid and consistent hitting, I mean consistent dead straight hitting even with off center hits with high trajectory which is what you want in utility clubs. I ordered utility with IROD shafts, FW with Aldila NV75 and NP-1 driver with Aldila NV65 tipped. I'm 5"6, 155 lbs, driver swing speed 105mph, swinger type, with 8 HDCP. I think Nakashima FW and utiltiy clubs are defenitely winners. I'm looking forward to spending more time with them when I get it.

I'm wondering if you have tried the Hogan CFT hybrid? I'm trying to decide between the 22* NR-R and the 21* Hogan.

The NP-R is looks much nicer to me.

I currently play the Hogan CFT in 21* and 24*. I dropped the 19* in order to try the Nakashima R2 19* Utility. It should arrive tomorrow. I already know that I hit the CFT consistently, but did not try it from any difficult lies.

I'll post a short review of the Nak's playability by Saturday.

Are you sure they're square? The main reason I'm not looking at these is their website says they're .5* closed.

Can anyone please post a nice photo/s of the Nak Utility hybrid??? The picture on their website doesn't give the best angle. Can you compare it to the Hogan hybrid? Thank you.

Id love to hear more thoughts on the Nak utility,specifically the 19*

I love this club..I have 19* with an IROD which I bought primarily because I couldn't get to back pin placements on 2 par 3's with a 3 iron...can hit the thing from any kind of lie, high, low, long and short. Not real easy to draw or fade but I will never complain about straight. Had it made between 2/3 iron length so is good for between 195-220. Very nice looking at address also.

While the NAK NP-R is pretty good, there are two things about it that bothered me and so I returned mine.

One, the bulge on the sole was tough to get used to on really tight lies in the fairway. It's an awesome club out of the rough. But on a tight lie, ballflight was too low.

Two, I had the wrong loft. Thinking it would be similar to a TM Rescue where you go down a number to replace an iron (Rescue #4 to replace a 3 iron) I had the NP-R4 to replace my 3 iron and it ended up being a good replacement for the 4 iron! Ooops.

I played mine with a TT TX-90. I think steel is a better fit for these clubs, but that's a personal thing, nothing to be carved in stone.

A couple of minor things, I hate the N logo raised on the clubface. It looks more closed than .5* so that took some getting used to.

Still, better than the TM Rescue. I cannot compare to the Hogan, I only hit those a few times at the PGA Show.

I actually love the Nakashima utility clubs. I own an NP-R3 and should receive my NP-R4 by Wednesday. I agree with Demolition Man that steel shafts probably work best in these clubs but that's about all I can agree on. The "N" is not annoying at all to me, I ordered mine sqaure and it is just that, and I was able to hit it off tight lies very well. After I get my NP-R4 I will place an order for an NP-1 driver and a couple of fairway woods.

I bought my 22° Nakashima this past week and already have it for sale (see our Buy/Sell/Trade section).

I LOVE the way the club sets up, looks and plays off the tee box, fairways and any shortgrass lie.

My problem with it was the trajectory was not the same lazy, higher flight I got from my 23° Jackaroo...which also was much better extracating the ball out of tall rough that the Nak couldn't do.

The Jack has a lower Center of Gravity which is more comfortable for me than the lower aggressive flight the Nak, or at least THIS Nak offers.

Bottom line?

I think the Nak is about the best utility club out there...but it is NOT, nor ever should be miscontrued as a Rescue club.

If any one here care for a 19* , I have one club installed w/ a NS pro shaft 950 X flex (Installed as a soft X). This is a demo that i and several people tried for a few rounds only. it's 41" at D3 sw. The shaft installed w/ 3" tipped, Lamkin crossline cord grip. $150 Shipped fedex express saver to lower 48 states w/ Paypal fee included.

No sky mark, just a normal few rounds ware on the sole and face. Head cover included too.

I might also let go one of the Demo 420cc driver w/ TP speeder 757 X flex on it . I will let every one knows as soon as I got it back.
