Posted April 30, 200420 yr Received this morning my new Scratch wedges!!!!! 54* + 58* "TANGO & CASH" grind, antique finish with silver paintfill (Logo and loft # only). The grind is something special. Inspired by my beloved Trusty Rusty wedges but with a few modifications. It's a very versatile grind and I'm sure Ari is more than happy to chime in with all the details. Btw, Ari liked the grind so much, he made a wedge for himself as well. So, everybody who always wanted a very versatile grind ... give Ari a call. I'm sure he's more than happy to set you up!!!! As soon as I get some pics taken I will get them up here. Until then I would like to thank Ari and Scratch Golf for a job very well done. The wedges look gorgeous and if they perform only half as good as they look I'll be a happy camper. Thanks. haribo

Thanks. haribo Congrats haribo . :) You sound very happy am glad that you are :D So you really like the grind Eh!!!!!! Boy you don't know how tough that was keeping that to myself and not letting it slip out   Get a camera and take those pic's as you promised , as this I have to see . Mike :)
April 30, 200420 yr Author Mike, they do look absolute sweet!!!!!!! Can't wait to take them out. Trust me, I had a list of (anal) details for Ari. From slightly different shaft length for the two wedges, FCM stepped shafts ... to the tape job for the grips (1 + 1 + 4 half wraps of tape on the tapered down part od the grip) The only part where they "screwed" up is, I actually requested 1 inch black ferrules, tapered down. Like the same look on all my irons. But the 3/4" black ferrules will do just fine. Ari and Scratch Golf did an awesome job. The craftmanship is first class. To be honest I'm quite flattered that Ari thinks this versatile grind I inspired him to, might be of interest for other's as well. Well, hope the weather stays dry over the weekend so that I can give my new wedges a thorough welcome on a practise green. haribo
April 30, 200420 yr I hope you get your wish and it stays dry . For some reason I just can't see you staying home inside while it is raining with a :( on your face . I have a feeling you will be out hitting them even if it was snowing out   I lived in TO long enough to know that it could still happen at this time of year . Snow that is
April 30, 200420 yr I'm with Mike! I wanna see some pics! Esp. of those grinds. Tango and Cash just sounds 8)
April 30, 200420 yr I played with Ari on Wednesday (at the Ghost Creek course at Pumpkin Ridge outside Portland) and saw his "Tango and Cash" grind wedge. It looks very nice! Also, he brought along a wedge he's made for Stan Utley (from specs I was able to give him that were based on my conversations with Stan), which also looks really great (58* loft, 15* bounce, Ping Eye 2 sole grind, very square head shape, 3* flat, 35.5" shaft length, DG shaft, antique finish, white paintfill). I was really impressed by how good the antique finish with white paintfill looks in person. I'm tempted to get my wedges redone in that finish (as well as order a "Stan Utley" grind 60* to compete with my "M"-grind). For those who want a non-glare finish, I think antique is the one. BTW, we had a lot of fun playing together, particularly when Ari holed a 140 yard shot for an eagle (sadly, I failed to get a half from 115!). It was really good to meet Ari in person and I appreciated his driving up from Eugene to join me. I'm hoping to organize a Bandon outing with him sometime in the future. Jeff

Jeff Jeff, It was great to meet you. I really had a great time. I look forward to showing you around Bandon sometime soon. :)
April 30, 200420 yr Harald, I am very glad to hear that the wedges finally arrived!!! :) Here is a pic of my "Tango and Cash" grind 58* wedge. I will get some more pics up later from some different angles but this should give you guys a pretty good idea what it is. The grind has trailing edge relief in the center part of the sole only. Pretty much it makes the wedge play like a thinner sole wedge from the fairway and around the greens but like a thicker sole wedge from bunkers. I am not the best bunker player out there so this is key for me. It allows you to open the face for flop shots to a certain degree without the leading edge raising off the ground too much. It is a very versitile grind that is working very well for me right now.
April 30, 200420 yr Yeah so am I , now if he could only figure out how to make them a bit smaller
April 30, 200420 yr just used mine for the first round today. i think i'm in love!!! :D i bought it from another tsg'r Scratch 60* Lob wedge. Raw full grain finish no paintfill. Grind Specs: 8* Bounce Moderate Camber Rounded leading Edge Moderate Trailing Edge Relief Mild Heel Relief 35.5" with DG S-300 it just ko'd my vokey 60.08 tour chrome. andy
May 1, 200420 yr Author Thanks ari for the pic. Have some as well. maybe somebody can tell me later (not home currently) how tro post them. As I daid earlier, the grind is inspired by the Trusty Rusty. But is yet completely different. It is very obvious when you see the sole. It's a lot wider. Also, there's more camber, different leading edge, etc. Well, couldn't resist and played a round in pouring rain. Although my game is still pretty rusty from the long winter break (2. time out) I can already say I'm in love with my new wedges. They feel great. Anyway, more later. haribo
May 2, 200420 yr No problem at all Harald. :) I appreciate you taking some pics. I am always happy to post pics of customers wedges so anyone feel free to email me at [email protected] with your wedge pics and I will post them for you. 8)

I used my new Scratch Weight Slot 53*. The raised COG was exactly what I needed on that shot, trajectory was perfect! Here is a pic of my new favorite club 8)
May 2, 200420 yr holes are drilled in it. ari has another 53* w/o the holes and he reckons it plays about 1.5* stronger on full shots but not as much of a difference on chip shots. sounds really great to me!
May 2, 200420 yr Does that have holes in the back , or did you just blur out something? Definetly Holes. :) Those are our new milled Weight Slots. Here is a thread about them with more pics: http://www.tourspecgolf.com/modules.php?na...iewtopic&t=5605

It was a thing of beauty: medium-low trajectory, hit pin high, bounced once then backed into the hole. Beautiful shot. BTW, there is no way I can outdrive Ari: it was a short par 4; he hit an iron or hybrid and I smoked my 3 wood. He's definitely a lot stronger than me! Jeff
May 3, 200420 yr Author Here's what Ari emailed me about the "Tango&Cash" grind. Thought some people here might find this interesting/intriguing. Also, Ari is way better at explaining things than I would/will ever be. (Ari, I hope you won't mind me passing this on.) "The basic idea behind this grind is to make the wedge play like a thinner sole wedge from the fairway and around the green and a thicker sole wedge from a bunker. It also exhibits more stability on all shots thanks to the beefier heel and toe. The basic problem that I see in the Trusty Rustys is that the sole is too thin and flat. In our grind we round the leading edge a little more, just a litle bit more camber and the thicker sole. But to offset the thicker sole we make the middle trailing edge grind a little thicker and wider. Basically this grind is designed as a do everything wedge for someone who doesnt get too steep and doesnt take big chunky divots. It is especially good out of the sand for a versitile wedge. The other grinds that we do to make the wedge more versitile all detract from the clubs playability out of the sand. Alot of these grinds also make the wedge less stable on full shots and partial shots around the green. This grind does none of that. If it has a weakness compared to an aggressive heel and trailing edge relief grind it is flop shots. It sits very well on flop shots but if you open the wedge TOO much it can sit up a little. Take away the heel and it will sit a little flatter. But then you give up alot in other areas." haribo
May 3, 200420 yr Has anybody tried using this grind in combination with the weight slots? Seems like it would be a good idea for gap wedges...
May 4, 200420 yr I am sending my 54* back to Ari to have it ported anyways. I think it will be just what I want to lengthen the distance gap between it, and the 58*
