primo
Which grip do you use? And why the hell doesn't golfsmith have 2 different models for them? Last time I regripped i had to freakin go through an entire box to find 4 round grips.

primo
You know I always liked the round grips better, but I just got my MR-23CB's and they have the tourstage full cord grips and I just noticed they are ribbed. I was going to rip em off, but I'm really starting to like these grips now. I might actually change the rest of my clubs to ribbed and cords. I'm thinking might go with Lampkin cords this time, instead of the usual GP v-50's I have had my whole life.
phillypete
A few of my irons have ribbed grips on them... it was a used set and the grip were brand new when I got them... I have no clue why a few of the grips felt weird for the longest time. I just thought it was an air pocket of lump of tape.
studatnu
I like the Golf Pride full cord grips, similar to the ones that Titleist put on their clubs.
phillypete
I like the Golf Pride full cord grips, similar to the ones that Titleist put on their clubs. Is it just me or does that grip mow through gloves and not wearing a glove is not an option with those babies... must be a marketing plan to move more Footjoy/titleist gloves. lightrider
Round. Bidwell Leather. Expensive but, nice.
pgatoursouthpaw
I have always used ribbed but recently finally made the transition to round and I am really liking them a lot. Using Lamkin Crossline round.
judge-smails
I always us full cord grips on everything, and no glove! I have lost chunks of skin at the range!! But once they get worn a bit it is no problem. I like to use round on my irons, I feel it gives me more options regarding grips position, pressure etc is I am trying to work a shot or hit a punch. On woods I like ribbed so I know I will always have a consistent grip and not get too strong or too weak with my left hand.
Eye-O-Matic
Both. I use ribbed on most everything except my wedges.
phillypete
Both. I use ribbed on most everything except my wedges. When I regrip I think I'll be doing the same. That way it won't be bothersome when I want to lay my wedge open for a flop or some sand.
primo
Both. I use ribbed on most everything except my wedges. That's really interesting. I have noticed actually that a lot of pros use Ribbed. why is that? you're a pro aren't you eyes?
Pepe8714
I currently use Ribbed GP Velvet Cord, but im going to go back to Velvet round double tape for the winter. Pepe
dpark
I used to play ribbed when I was younger, switched to round and have recently come back to ribbed grips. My #1 setup flaw was gripping the club with too strong a grip. A ribbed grip prevents me from doing that because I can feel it when my grip is out of place. Maybe its a crutch, but it works for me. oukk
WOW this thread was from 2003!!!! anyways, for me ribbed!!
777
I spec all my clubs to have round grips...some JDM clubs come with ribbed grips which I use without any problem
NiftyNiblick
I started out with ribbed leather "reminder" grips way back when and then evolved to round. Although they're no longer real leather, I still always go with a wrap-style grip on everything. I gave up the golf glove very early on. Don't like it, prefer to just towel before each shot, resin bag if necessary, but can't use rough, cord, or composition grips as a result. seesawgolfer
I only go with the round. The ribbed throws me off when trying to do different types of shots with slightly different grip position.
