+TourSpecGolfer
I have had my R7 M.A.X since march 11th shafted with a Graphite Design W60 ( my fav shaft ). The R7 is great except for the fact the weight plugs don't work, I was lucky to demo a Fourteen 371 Prototype Driver with a Graphite Design W70 Stiff and it straight up layed the smack down on the R7. Its shape was clean and perfect, the Face profile was deep at 51mm tall, Its crown is very simple and at address it sets up smaller than 370cc. Best yet the W70 is the only shaft available, The W70 retails around 400.00 (W70 S 72g 3.6 323g D1.5) the 371 proto is only available in 9 degrees and has a square face but the whats even better news is it has * Tour professional active coefficient of rebound That means its Legal C.O.R. :D The Distance was about the same as the R7 and the Trajectory of the W70 with this 9* Head is what made my day due to its penetrating and stable flight/trajectory. It seemed to be loads more accurate and had a feel that was muted yet metallic sounding. I have one coming that should arrive next week but I sure am excited and After only 18 holes with the demo I know whats coming is probably the best darn driver i have ever hit or layed eyes on. Guest
Looks sweet. How would you compare it to the X390 - especially ball flight? What price? Didier
+TourSpecGolfer
Looks sweet. Â How would you compare it to the X390 - especially ball flight? Â What price?Didier Compared to the X390 i think the Fourteen goes a bit higher, also more forgiving due to the square face angle. The X390 is long when hit well but yet very demanding for such a large driver. The fourteen seems like the compromise I have been looking for. Fourteens have a terrible margin for dealers thus making them very expensive. You will see these on the new E-com site coming up soon. FAQ
That FourteeN looks sweet Chris. I've been a fan of their gear for awhile. Their irons also look very good. We look forward to the new site.
shokosugi
Chris, how about Fourteen vs. TS V-IQ driver..
+TourSpecGolfer
Chris, how about Fourteen vs. TS V-IQ driver.. The 371 Fourteen Proto is for a harder swinger. Its demanding but not even close to Maru/Pro Spec demanding. It sits perfectly square unlike the .5 closed ViQ, I actually don't mind a closed face. Its only available in 9* that may be lower than what you are looking for. The ViQ's face is a little less deep and both have nearly the same head size at abouts 370cc. The ViQ is known for vibration absorbing rubber in the grip and a plug in the head. If your sketchy on the ViQ there are countless other drivers and FW's out there to try that you may like also. +TourSpecGolfer
I'm crazy over graphite design. Here in Japan there seems to be a consensus with shop owners that Fujikura is slipping in regards to product, Management, and Quality due to it being an old company with its original founder dead. The support is for Graphite design which is currently neck to neck with Fuji in #s at JPGA events. I love my W60 and Love the W70, The M85s are the ultimate FW shaft and what makes buying this fourteen such a deal is if i ever do decide to sell the head i will pull the shaft because its considered a good price when its factory with this head. Retail on the W70,W60, M85, and I-65 shafts are 43,000yen ( 400.00 ). Heck even P.M uses them now :gd:
