aviator
I'm trying to get some feedback on the Fuji 553. Has anyone played this shaft and what did you think of it? How would it compare to a Fuji SIX or another shaft? It's going in a 510DF.
FAQ
I'm trying to get some feedback on the Fuji 553. Has anyone played this shaft and what did you think of it? Speeder - 553 Triax - 46 in. 56 grams 3.4 torque mid/high kick I find this shaft plenty stout in that it's hard to overload but easy to load and has a great kick. Very smooth and not brittle at all. Ultra Light and I like it very much. My favorite right now in a driver. Good for medium swing speeds and smooth tempo. Gets the ball up quick, but it doesn't balloon for me unless I get under it too much.
Radeon962
I had a Fuji Tour Spec 553 in a TM 540XD Tour and although it felt pretty good, it just did not feel right. I reshafted with a NV 55-X and all things changed. I have played the NV in various weights since the middle of last season, but have been back and forth through vaious Fuji's as they get so much publicitiy, but I don't see any benefit to them over the NV. I believe that the NV is at least as good as the high end Fuji's and for me and my swing is longer and feels much better. The 540XD combo with the NV 55-X is an awesome combo. The head was 208g, so I was able to finish the club off at 44.5" and still have the swingweight just about D5. My SS is 112mph and the NV 55-X holds up very well and feels awesome. Nice tight dispersion, mid-high ball flight that does not balloon. The 553 is a very nice shaft, but I don't see that it is worth the additional premium over the NV 55. tsg4tch
I have the 553-X tipped 1/2" in a R510 DF. It bounces at 259 cpm at 44.75" making it about a 6.4 on the PCS equalized scale. The shaft has the same smooth feel that Speeders have. Kind of a lighter(much;)) 757. I'm playing it at D3 and that seems about right. I have hit my longest drives with this combination.....so far  .
