I just saw and tried R7 tour and TP version side by side.

A pro and the rep came over together after a round at OC today and we've talk about Fuji shafts options.

THey both Showed me the driver for me to look at. TP has a 757 speeder on it and Tour version has a NV75 on it. Both are in X flex at 44 3/4".

I took my measuring gauge and ask them if i could measure it, They said "Why not". Both have a exact same loft 9.5* and both have the same exact 1/2* open face and both have the exact same lie 59*. I look at the weight, and they both had not been tweak, still have 2 tens in the front and 2 twos in the back. Tp has a D2 sw and the tour version has a D3 sw.

So i've proceed and ask them if i can hit it to the net. "NO problem". Boom boom boom w/ my speed meter...not trying to brake any record, just trying to get into my normal speed. : :smile1:

Felt just completely the same w/ pretty much consistent speed ( Talking a bout head feel only here, shaft wise off course different ). And I ask the rep if he can hook me up w/ at least 1 TP as quick as possible, he said is not a problem as soon as he can get his hand on them. The pro told me also that if i make him a happy man...he'll even hook me one also from the vans. :surprize: I said " sweet ! thanks man ".

We'll see how happy he will be w/ his new Fuji set up. :smile2:

Thats great that Taylormade have now got their TP line the same as the gear their using on tour, really great.

Well the tour van have a capability to tweak it some more by putting it in a mold and bend the neck slightly, However That is only cosmetic preference from the pro it self...because ball flight wise they can tweak it from the weight screws.

I had a tour R7 8.5* and a Retail R7 9.5*. Both are tingy and nothing like the R510 TP. However, they are loudest when the 10gm weight are in the back and when you set up both for a fade, draw, or lower ballflight, the sound is not as loud but still tingy. You can't even foam the heads to get that sound as the stuff would fall out the holes when you unscrew a cartridge :laugh:

The big difference is the square face angle on the tour. I just does not make sense to me to make a club that allows you to adjust your flight with a closed face! You would think that they would include 14 gr weight to allow more of a fade. When i set mine up for a fade with the retail, I get a straight ball. However, drawing the ball is much easier with both clubs. However, I think i will try and pickup a tour R510 Tp 10.5* if I could ever find one or get a retail and have the head foamed. Just my 2 cents!

Prices for the Tour R7s are falling fast as people realize the TP head is the same as tour and you get the $180.00 expanded weight screw kit with the TP that most most Tour R7s don't come with.

BSG is deleting posts that refer to falling R7 prices or questioning the value of tour R7 vs. TP, so you know it's a problem!!! :roll:

Think about it logically - or at least here is a try.

Bottom line the "alleged" differences in the past between the 510TP and tour 510 arguable disappear with the R7.

1 - Sound, people said the tour model was "more solid sounding." Perhaps this was from foaming different weighting can't say for sure but definitely something with internal construction. Well with the R7 you foam it and it will leak out. So bottom line I don't think there will be a sound difference between the two.

2 - Tour 510s were "heavier," which may allow for more preferred swingweights. Well how does that matter since you can adjust the swingweight with the new TLC control system. Why do you need the "heavier" tour head with the R7?

3- Tour model had a "hotter face." The TP line is already a "special" driver is this alleged difference worth an extra 800-1000. The R7 is such an advanced club anyway that such a minor difference may result in what 5-10 yards at most! Would the average amateur or even better amateur see this difference? Maybe maybe not. Some people may claim that the hotter face will result in 20-30 yards but pleeeeease consider the source of this type of claim.

4 - Add ons -- the tour R7s aren't coming with the fun tungsten screw kit so you'll have to add an extra 100 at least to the price of a tour model to get it. The r7 is made to tinker with and dial in your swing so most people will want the kit. Now the R7 TP may not come with your first choice of shaft but you can take the 100+ you would have spent on the kit if you bought a tour model and apply that to your shaft choice. The tour model may not even come with your preferred shaft so to me this category is in favor of the TP.

Now supposedly the tour model can have a different lie angle but this is largely unnecessary for the majority of players. Remember the most important thing as DM so eloquently stated is to have clubs that are set up for you --- maybe individuals are starting to realize when you get a tour driver it is set up for the tour player it was made for. If that player has characteristics like you then great if not then that is a recipe for disaster. With other clubs such as irons, wedges, putters etc they are easier to change than a driver in my opinion. Maybe people are finally catching on about tour drivers plus the differences aren't really there in my opinion for the tour R7 v. the TP.
