Just got my Gauge CBs w/ Pics

I'll be honest - when I logged on the other day I had no plan to buy another set of irons. The Zs have been good to me and the Miura CB201s have not even played a round. But I have been intrigued by the pictures and reviews of these clubs, so when I saw the brand new set w/ Nippon Pro 950s I had to try them. This is a very creative set of irons design wise. I am most interested in the low irons. You can see the cavity on the 3 at address, but I don't mind that. It has a very shallow face - somewhat shaped like a Cleveland TA5, which has to be the easiest long iron I have ever hit. The fit and finish is superb. The shafts are stiff but may be too whippy; not sure until I hit them. It has been wet and rainy here in Denver but I will hit these sometime this weekend. Thanks to Bryan for the great deal and expedited shipping.

I think they are softer than MR23 Cb's when struck well. I noticed the COG is pretty low on these making them easy to get up in the air yet the lofts are jacked up so they go looong. Its really a great sensation, but your first round you may be flying the greens and mis judging distance. The long Irons have a more shallow face with a deep cavity for an extra low COG. I love being able to hit a 3 iron with no problem

These are sold out until July and even then I can only get 3 sets. good thing is I offer pretty much any high end shaft you want, even the hard to get Japanese NS pro 1050, 950, 850 - PX 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 - S300, X100 - Diamond Rifle, Rifle 110, Rifle 90's and other Japan only shafts. Half cord grip also an option in red, blue, Grey & black. My new shaft of choice is the NS pro 1050 in Irons and NS pro 850 G.H in wedges.

Well I did an an extensive test over the weekend at the range against the Tourstage Z101 and Miura CB201. Not really comparing apples to apples as the Zs have Rifle 6.0, the Miuras have DG S300, and the Gauge have NSpro 950s. At address, the the GD are slightly larger than the other two clubs (the Zs being the smallest). For me, the Gauge won out easily. I was surprised. Absolutely more forgiving, and perhaps I was benefiting from the slightly larger clubhead. I found a more consistent, higher trajectory. I even liked the Miuras second best, and for the first time would list the Zs last. But the Gauge are VERY solid, and the 3 iron was much easier to hit than the other two. Even though the Z has the tungsten insert, the shallower face of the Gauge allows for a less perfect contact to still achieve good results.

I have to say the Nippon shafts are great. Obviously very lightweight, and I thought I may overpower them, but did not. I have had horrible elbow tendonitis for years and years, and I think having clubs that are lighter overall will benefit me on the back nine where it really starts to wear.

Before I bought these I swore I would sell off one of the three sets. I think I will demo a bit more, but the Gauge are staying for sure. Not sure I can bring myself to sell factory satin brushed Z101s w/ a 2 iron, and the Miuras are so beautiful... we'll see. I will try to add more detailed photos soon.

I agree, I'm thinking of swapping out the PX's for NS pro 1050's. NS makes such user friendly shafts and I'm a light shaft kinda guy. Great thing about them is they offer R, SR, S, & X flex's. I play 850's in my wedges because they help my feel.

Only if you return them fully blueprinted to my specs!! LOL... have a great trip Joe. Glad you hooked up with my friend Robin... he is thrilled and can't wait to have you work on his gear. I told him he could wait for the best or get screwed by the guy who told him to just change his grips

Have to say thanks again for all your help Joe. Can DEFINITELY tell EVERYONE in the group that this man knows what he is talking about. If you deal with anyone else you are either selling yourself way short or just going down the wrong path. Have a great trip and hope all goes well in the far east. Look very forward to when you get back. Thanks also to MCSub for being a great friend and getting me pointed in the right direction with Joe and this site in general. All great people who are the most knowledgeble in the business. Who says people do not help each other anymore. Thanks again all and cannot wait to get the right fit for my game. JOE K is the VERY BEST!

Thanks again!
