jack0428
I truely believe every golfer (predominately male) will go thru a phase called the "Blademania", that is a period of time when you will spent a lot of $$$$$ and buy a set of small head, thin top line very "Pro" like forged blade just to satisfy your ego. You think your handicap is low enough to handle these babies, you love the Sticky feels, you hear how well your other friend play blades and make fun of the CB guys, so you have to have a set, the thinner the better, less off-set the better, better yet, exactly like what Tiger is playing. love at first sight,,, but then it's all down hill from day2. Then you will live in Golf Hell for 2 months, then you go thru more sub phases: 1. If he can do it... so can I phase. you practice more, swing harder, seek more instructions. 2. Maybe this is the wrong spec phase. You think you bought the wrong spec, must been the off set, must be the lie angle, must be the shaft, the grip, the swing weight..... must be the shoes, must be the wrong balls I am using. 3. This is not hapening to me phase. (Denial). I spend all this money on these and the 7 iron wont even fly 120 yards, why is this happenning to me? Did I do something wrong? I have not been unfaithful to my wife since I got these, why is god punishing me? Why? Why? Why??? 4. It's other people's fault phase. Blame on the proshop who sold you the set, blame it on the discussion group members who said this is a great set of clubs, what do they know? They don't know me, my swing... it's the dog's fault, ihe barked at it too many times, it's my wife's fault, she hates the fact that I bring the 3 iron onto bed with me.... And the Final phase: The Apocalypse pahase. I am not ready for Blades, suddenly the CB you threw in the closet seem mighty friendly, you should have never let the ego over-power your will. You take the CB out, and your old form is back again, the grass is greener, the sun is brighter, you feel the Golf God is smiling on you once again. warning: Blademania has a cycle of about every 2 years and 12 months or less cycles for the weaker will golfers. ziggy1
Here´s my list of irons. The start is pretty "normal", but suddenly, it get´s crazy: TM Firesole: used set to start TM Supersteel: new set to be my first new set Mizuno ProII: you gotta play forged Mizuno MP33: Blades! Titleist 681: even cooler Blades! (by now, my HCP is about 9) TM 300 forged: wanted to get down to 5, and looked for CB TS Xblades: CB did not help my HCP, so I wanted blades again TS Z101: too many bad shots with blades, and wanted CBs again Miura CB 1005: maybe the Z101 are too small... TS MR23 US Blades: nothing´s better than blades (I´m down to 6 now) RAC CB: Those MR23 are soo hard to hit consistent, better get back to CB ... I don´t know what´s next, most likely blades again.. :surprize:
Ichiro
Great post, Jack. Very funny !! :smile1: I've played Pings and Callaways my entire golfing career so can't relate. But I'll definitely get myself a set of blades and do my best to prove that theory wrong.

hornyjuan
HAHA...what a classic post. Mizuno has some great looking CB's that look like blades at address. Or just get a set of cb's with very little offset, thin topline :smile2:
Godfather1
A cb with a thin topline and minimal offset is still not the same as a "blade"
jack0428
Thank you all for the kind words, but you have no idea how painful it is to see them blades sitting there flirting with me.... I have finally came up with a perfect solution..... 3-6 CB 7-Pw MB. maybe that way everybody is happy.......
