For the heck of it I thought I would post these photos of the driver I just got from Chris. This club plays incredible for me. Very forgiving and the longest yet. This is a great shaft for me as well. I was worried about it being too stiff, but no problem.

I hit one last week--it wasn't tour and it had a MAS shaft, but it was from Japan--and couldn't believe that I was out driving it with my J340. Maybe it was that it was set up wrong for me or the 10.5* and MAS haft put too much spin on the ball...or maybe the J340 is just a bad-ass.

Patrick, I'm telling you this now...you're not going to find any more distance with any other club than you get now from the 983e; as for forgiveness, you're too good of a ball striker to really benefit much from what ever advantage it has over the 983e.

Great looking club. Is it as forgiving as your Gemini?

It's not quite as forgiving as the Gemini, but still very easy. It is a lot longer than the Gemini though. At least with the setups I am using. I'm using a Fuji 553 in the Gem and the I-65 in the TP. Loft are stated as the same.

Dwayne, I think the shaft is the true engine of the golf club anyway. I think it's the total setup here that works for me. You are giving good advise to Patrick in my book. He's a good ball striker so the larger sweet spot on the TM won't be a factor. While this is a hot face, it's all about the shaft. That's sounds like a bad-ass J340!

What are the specs on the GD AD I-65??

Thanks, haribo

Hari - I can't really compare it to any Fuji I have hit. Here's the specs... GD I-65: 72g torque 2.2 mid/high kick

Fuji's and GD's are two completely different beasts. Different feels different trajectories. If anything, I think the GD's get the ball up in the air much easier. The i-65 is probably close to the FUJI 660tr or 771ta.

just wondering, whats the difference between the japanese tour version and the american tour version?

The only thing I know of is the shaft selection.

Isn't it also .86 vs. .83, even though it's tour?

Dwayne: It's conforming.

no the Jap TP is still conforming under USGA

I noticed in Chris' pics he's got a 9.5 while your pics show a 10.5? How many TP's does he got?

Anyway I was wondering how you like the 10.5 degree loft compared to other lofts you've used before? I've played 8.5 degrees for a long time but from what I understand the R7 is a low spin head compared to the higher spin of the R540XD. What are your thoughts about that? Preferences?

Thanks,

Swunk

I would definitely say go up one full degree, if not 2. I play a 9.5* and had a 8.5* MARU and both launched higher than a 9.5* R7 that I hit.
