l8braker
I've seen some awesome pics of custom Miz Japan irons/wedges here and am considering ordering a set. I know their quality control is so much higher than Miz US when it comes to specs but how about durability? I had a set of MP14's for about 3 yrs and beyond the usual bag dings, the chrome started to peel and rust on me. On the other hand, I also have a set of Hogan Redlines that held up pretty well compared to the MP14s - bag dings but no peeling/rust issues even on my 8 iron which I've hit off of my share of desert hardpan/cartpaths. A buddy of mine has had a set of MP33s for 2 yrs and they look worse than my Hogans - they're already peeling. I love the Miz feel and the custom options are great but I don't want to spend the money on something that'll look 8 yrs old in 2 yrs (if I keep'em that long  ) While I'm at it, how durable are the Gauge, Tourstage or other Japanese forgings? Thanks.

I don't know if the 14's have a copper underlay or not but i would suggest Iron head covers for a set of custom mizzy's, I have had mine for a couple months and not a single ding due to the head covers, I also have a set of U.S retail MP30's which i didn't use head covers and they are all dinged up. It all depends on how you take care of your stuff and usually the with the hefty price of Japanese Irons people tend to baby them. Another issue is several years ago, mizuno moved their plant to Cambodia or Bangladesh or somthing and had to train an entire new staff of foreign workers, I have heard from many that in the last 2 years mizuno has really been back to up to par or even birdie for that matter. Chris, are you serious? I thought Mizuno Japan = Made In Japan, not Cambodia, Bangladesh, or something! I thought only TM Japan was out-sourcing their forgings to China and surrounding countries. Hummm, so all custom orders from Mizuno Japan really means another country from the Asian continent - even the forgings that create Tiger's irons? I guess their Grain Flow process could create some consistency whether the fires are in Japan or Bangladesh.

Almost every brand is made in asia, Im not sure 100% but maybe together we can figure this stuff out, I will make a thread and if everyone contributes perhaps we can accurately place where all the forgerys are at. ok here it is... http://www.tourspecgolf.com/modules.php?na...c&p=54269#54269
emric
...seriously - where do you get this 'stuff'?...mizuno sports umbrella + subsidiaries have manufacturing facilities in shanghai, hong kong, mexico and japan...mizuno forgings are still forged and finished in japan... e I've seen some awesome pics of custom Miz Japan irons/wedges here and am considering ordering a set. I just dropped them an E-mail but I'm almost positive the answer will be the same.

Do you have an idea of what the price point will be when they hit the market? :mizuno: Thanks!

I may be wrong. The Mizuno wedges are out in September, I can also custom order them in flat black with all that M stamp label stuff to. How about a T series wedge in flat black and silver paint fill.

Any kind of custom shaft as well, like an NS Pro 950 for a D3 or D4 sw? And can you order me a low bounce too? I feel another pm coming on very soon! :money:
