Mikey
Guys... I was just wondering if anyone out there is familiar enough to know whether the MR-23 irons are either Taper or Parallel tipped? I have a brand new set currently shafted with X100 shafts. Way too stiff for me. I have tried a couple of times to sell the irons, but no takers for what I needed to get out of them. I have just decided to reshaft with Rifles. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance... Mike
ziggy1
Taper tip. Guaranteed. Just reshafted mine with Nippon Pro 1050 Best feeling combo you can imagine. Not the most forgiving one, but certainly the most exciting one.
Guest
Good to hear that MR-23 and 1050 are a good match. I'm trying to build a mixed set of MR-Blades and CB's with the same shaft. Ziggy1, are you Ziggyonmaui?
Mikey
thanks... I really appreciate the information. I heard that Shreveport also carries the NS PRO 1050 shafts and that option also intrigues me. I had originally thought about Rifles, but now you have me thinking. Anyone had clubs done at Shreveport to report?? Mike
dkats
I'm playing a combo MR-23 blade/CBs with Nippon 1050 in s flex. I've been playing this shaft for almost a year and love them. The 1050s are just a little bit softer with a softer tip than the S200s that originally came in them. To me, the feel is closer to the DGs than rifles. So if you are a rifle player you might want to stick with rifle shafts.
DemolitionMan
I have a pretty weird setup. The 7-PW are the MR-23 blades with S200s and the 3-6 are MR-23 CBs with NS Pro 950s. I keep meaning to get the shafts redone on all of them but I waited so long that what's the point now. I am hitting the long irons pretty well, so why change? Ziggy1, are you Ziggyonmaui? Yup! I´ll keep playing the MR for a few rounds more and will then tell you what I found out compared to all my other sets that I had over the last couple of months (RAC CB, MRUSblade, Z101, S59)
Landy
Mikey I've worked with Paul @ Shreveport Golf. He is AWESOME!! Super nice to deal with and some of the best work I've ever seen. And fast! He has gone out of his way to ship me clubs for Saturday delivery. You can't ask for more, thank you & good luck
HipCheck
I can't say enough good things about Paul at Shreveport Golf. He has put together many clubs for me, including a set of Miuras which he put Nippon NSPro 1050s in and weighted them progressively throughout the set. He spent a LOT of time getting them just right too. He's a class guy and does great work! I send him all my clubs from New Jersey, so that should say something in itself. love2golf
One more shout out for Paul at Shreveport Golf. Paul does all of my work and really knows his stuff. Super nice guy that does quality work. About the 1050's... I love my Nippons. I have a driver swing speed of 110 mph and use x-stiff 1050's at 1/2 inch over in my Z101's. Nippons are a little softer flex than say Dynamic Gold and this set up suits me perfectly. I love a little lighter shaft in my irons. Helps me create more head speed and there is no sacrifice for feel IMO. Go with the 1050's. You won't be sorry.
