Couple of questions about R7
But you know they (weight plugs) will be available. I guess my line of thinking is from the customer's perspective. If the retail has a closed face, you could still adjust the shot shape with the weights so that the closed face doesn't matter much anymore. I thought that was the whole point of the weights. The club characteristics such as loft and face angle won't matter that much anymore. Of course, if you bought a 7.5* driver but need 10.5* loft there's probably not going to be enough weight plug in the world to help you there, but I can't see the face being closed a degree affecting the flight that much as long as you adjust the weight plugs. I guess all I'm saying is why buy a TP?

Couple of questions about R7
How long do you guys think it will take someone to manufacture their own weight plugs for these things? The main difference I see in the TP coming out and the release in June is a plethora of plugs being offered on the TP model. Couldn't someone just buy the standard R7 and buy after market weight plugs to make their own TP? You know they will be sold for cheap on ebay. What will be the point of the TP if this is done?

R7 Quad TP pics
What is the size of the TP going to be? For some reason it looks smaller than the R510TP to me?

Who has hit the R7?
We definitely have one thing in common, we both don't like the TM Pimp! :)

Who has hit the R7?
Junk to you. That's why I said you're entitled to your opinion. No, I am not drinking a new flavour. I have owned several TM drivers since the 300 series. I do not plan on buying an R7 yet. Every club I buy is because I like it and it works well for me, not because of hype. I demo each and every driver I buy along with other drivers on the market at the time. I just prefer TM. A lot of it for me is feel and sound. I don't have to wear ear plugs to hit TM. Am I going to spend $700 on a retail R7? H*ll no. The prices are already $499 for the base line R7 driver. I believe this is where the R500 series was until stores started to drop the price to $399. The R7 will drop in price IMO. Just give it a few months. I do agree that TM is not for everybody. I also agree that this driver appears to be gimmicky and overpriced. But to slander all TM drivers past and present as hype and gimmick is just asinine. By the way, did we really have to get political in this thread? To me, Cobras are Democrat drivers, loud and obnoxious. :D

WTF?!
Ok, what is the wedding dress fiasco that everyone keeps referencing?

Who has hit the R7?
You're definitely entitled to this opinion, but I respectfully disagree. I love Taylor Made woods. I love the feel, the look at address, the different options they give me, and even the sound the club makes. You are definitely in the minority, jboy, as is evidenced by Taylor Made's presence in every day Joe's bag and the tour bag as well. The public would recognize junk and reject junk. But, that is my opinion.

About Miura
Tsunglin, as far as who to buy from besides the Miura N.A. website, you can buy from Paul at Shreveport Golf. He is a sponsor on the freegolfinfo.com forum (FGI). I use him for all of my club dealings. Great guy with great prices. He offers different shafts for the Miura product and can mix and match sets for you. If you want tournament blade in 7-pw and CB-201 in 3-6 he can do that or any combination you can think of. He sells Zodia wedges as well in case your interested. PM me for his phone number or visit his website at shreveportgolfonline.com.

Poor Man's 660 TR - Look Again
I think the Accuflex Icon v.2 fits that bill. Great shaft, but it will run you $90 just for the shaft.
-
is this for real? what do you think? Taylormade?
$1510 for a fake Scotty and a headcover. 8O Wow! Think what you could have bought for that money. A nice set of Miura CB 201's and a TM TP driver come to mind.... What a waste.

Miura CB201s have arrived...
:D Quite all right. You gotta enjoy the game you know! I'm getting an MC-101 for my 4 iron when I get my set.

Miura CB201s have arrived...
Anything new to report MC? I think I'm getting a set within the next couple of weeks from Paul at Shreveport Golf. I hit a demo 6 iron extensively over a couple of range trips. Very, very, very nice. Soft and very forgiving. I was surprised how forgiving the 201's are for being a player's cb.

KZG CBII vs TS202's??
I have owned both and the 202's couldn't kick the CBII's out of the bag. I love the feel of my CBII's. The long irons (3 and 4) are a little tough to hit so for you I would recommend replacing them with the cb-IIm like I did. Have you tried the KZG Evolution iron set yet? Sounds like it would be right up your alley. They progress from blade pw to full cavity back 3 iron. I've heard these feel as good as the CB-II and you don't have to worry about different swingweights between CB-II and CB-IIm. If I were you, I would give the evolution a serious shot.

tm v steel tour vs otr...Is there a diff ?
In general, clubs like that that are tour issue are just picked through retail models. They just find the heaviest ones that have the best face angles, and put them aside for tour usage. I have a V Steel retail, that while not a particularly heavy head, it does have a square face. In fact, it's really a shade open. That was the reason I bought it, and I couldn't be happier with it. :D Tourtuned, while I respect your opinion I must disagree. Again, the face angle on my club is square. But the weighting of the club causes dramatic draws and hooks. I am not the first to have this problem with v-steels. My buddy at Shreveport Golf who is a 0 handicap had the same trouble when he hit it. No way the pros play retail v-steels. If they do they have the van open it 2 or 3 degrees. But even then it would seem the ball flight would be too low for a fw wood.

tm v steel tour vs otr...Is there a diff ?
Well, I know the tour model has more of a square to open face depending on who the club was built for and is probably more neutrally weighted or possibly fade biased. I don't own one but I've been around tour equipment. I own a retail v-steel and do nothing but draw the hell out of it. Like 20-30 yds if I don't concentrate on leaving the face more open at impact. The face on mine looks pretty square so it must be weighted inside the head for a draw bias. I am selling my retail and have already replaced it with a sonartec TRC.

miura CB-201s ?
I believe that a 10-capper can handle the mixed set (blade 7-pw). It's difficult to get proper distance out of the longer irons unless you are a consistently good ball striker. Can hit the ball most every time in the width of a dime. As far as the shafts, I have not hit the TT TX 90 but the 1050 I hit was like a dream. Depends on the TX 90's as well. They have a high ball flight in the standard TX and a low ball flight in the tour. But again, this is based on spec. I haven't hit either one.

miura CB-201s ?
Very nice club. I hit that exact combination at his shop. Sweet feeling club. I think Fujikura has a winner on its hands with the 27.3.

miura CB-201s ?
What shaft did you get in your Nakashima?

miura CB-201s ?
Let's agree to disagree.

miura CB-201s ?
Touche', but I am to the level where I am comfortable with the 8-pw being blade. They're not too much harder to hit. And by the way, if you went right with a blade then you would have gone right with a CB. The sweet spot on a blade 8 iron is much bigger than that of a blade 3 iron. P.S. I was just kidding about the blade ego factor. No need to tell my buddies. It was just a joke. :P
-
miura CB-201s ?
For a trained tighter swing and better feel for even better scoring. Why do pros use blades at all? A lot of them use blades thru the 2 iron. I know I am not a pro and I will never be at their level but it is not that hard to hit a blade in the shorter irons. It trains you to concentrate on your swing on those clubs so that you don't get too loose with your swing. Therefore, more accuracy. Besides that, I can tell my buddies that I play some blades! :D

Aldila NV shaft help
I played an Aldila NV 85 S in an R500 10.5 and it is great. Starts out high but really flattens out. I bought a Launcher 460 with Aldila NV 75 S tipped 1/2" at demo days at the country club and it is even better. Perfect trajectory, and great distance. Just line up and swing away for a very straight shot.
