Post Your Ryoma Maxima Review Here!
Hi wmclarenf1, I have installed the original Crazy LY01 (not the LY01 Nero, not the LY01 Hot). As I have also a LY Nero sitting here and tried the LY01 Hot in the past (which seems is the highest launching of all Crazy LY shafts), it seems that all Crazy LY shafts might launch too high for Maxima. I have sitting here some other shafts mid-kick or high-kick point. UST VTS Silver is mid kick, but not really tip stiff. Rombax Type X is mid-kick and for my taste not really tip stiff. The Nippon Region Formula has a mid/high-kick point and it is maybe tip stiffer... Will have a look at the WBQ specs as I would like to stay sub 60-62g. Thanks! How do WBQ feel compared to Crazy LY shafts?

Post Your Ryoma Maxima Review Here!
First impression after one round with Maxima/Crazy LY01: In contrast to old Ryoma D1 the Maxima V-Spec seems not closed at adress. Very good. First shots were very high - but easy to adjust. Pros: - Easy to hit / forgiving - Straight - Better roll out as Ryoma D1 Neutral: - Feel is good, but there are better feeling/sounding heads in the market. Easy to feel compressing the ball. Cons: - Distance only about average With Kamui 456 / Xcaliber Tour SL 50% of the balls landed in the same 5-7 yard area. Kamui Ray with different shafts is at the moment longer. So, will more dial in in Maxima and compare drivers with LM data (ballspeed..).

Very interested to read about GD GT and FEX in Maxima.

Playing differences of Crazy CB-46 and TJ-46 and 531B Prototype
I found out (and this is a rule maybe true for me..) there are: Crazy - Hitter type shafts: like CB46, LY01 Hot, NERO - "Some in between Hitter and Swinger shafts": like LY01 orig, FW80 - Swinger shafts: like TJ46 As a 6.4 and with my type of swing- not a hard hitter and not soft swinger, I can play the "hitter type of shafts - for heavy loader", when going a bit softer (6.2) or need the swinger type of shafts (for soft loader) a tad stiffer (6.7) But that´s is fine adjustments and maybe only true for my swing. For the LY01 Nero 6.4 (Hitter type shaft) I found the release not easy enough, so I rotated the spine from 12 to 6 o´clock for easier release. Fine adjustment...

Playing differences of Crazy CB-46 and TJ-46 and 531B Prototype
I played all the Crazy shafts (CB46, TJ46, Proto 531B and other Crazy shafts). First, because that is most important IMO is the right FLEX. The "older" Crazy lines like CB46, TJ46, FW80, LY01, NEro, Hot.. you can compare with the flex numers (6.2.. 6.7). The Crazy RD lines, like Proto 531B plays very VERY soft to flex. To compare the cpm readings of the shafts (calculated to 45 inch, 200g head, grip on, 5 inch clamp) - CB46 6.2 ®, TJ46 6.7 (SR), LY01 6.4 ®, LY01 HOT 6.4 ®, NERO 6.4 : 235 - 242 cpm - Proto 531 B SR (so should be than around > 245 cpm) came out at 218 cpm - that´s lady flex! (that is > 20 cpm or 2 flex under compared to other Crazys shafts) Bending profiles: TJ46 - easy to swing shaft, maybe for straight swinger or fighting a slice CB46 - hitter shaft, where you really should stay on tempo. Tip stiffer than TJ46 Proto 531 B - Good in hands (butt), easy to swing, but very very tip soft - so good for players fighting a slice, but wouldn´t recommend for players fighting a hook. A pure distance shaft. Got some of the longest drives with it, but not enough control. Hope that helps!

FLOing shafts
It seems there is no industry standard for companies what they mark after measuring the spine position: The test showed: Crazy, Quadra: Marking the Spine Fujikura, UST: Marking FLO plane (so 90 degree from spine position - meaning Logo to or away from the target line) XCaliber - Marking Spine and FLO Would be interesting to know, when getting a marked shaft, is it the Spine or the FLO. What´s about Mitsubishi (Diamana, Fubuki..), Graphite Design (9003, BB, DI, GT ..) and Nippon (Regio Formula..)?

FLOing shafts
As I learned from Tario, best position to install a crazy shaft is Logo Up or Logo down (let say at 12 or 6 o´clock). As I found out I got by far the best results (headspeed, ball speed, smash factor, on center hits.. ) when a shaft is perfectly Flat Line Oscilatted. It is very interesting that you got FLOing with Crazy shafts near to Logo up or Logo down. Really great work from Crazy! Last week I let a clubfitter check some other shafts, before installing in Ryoma Maxima, how to reach flowing. - Fuji: Rombax Type X: Flowing, when Logo is facing the target (Logo at 9 o´clock) - UST: VTS TourSpx Silver: Flowing, when Logo is at 3 o´clock (maybe also at 9 o´clock) - XCaliber: Tour SL: Flowing, when Logo is round about at 3 or 9 o´clock - Crazy (LY01, Proto..): Flowing near by 12 or 6 o´clock - Nippon Regio Formula: (forgot at home..) Question to other TSG members: When you let a clubfitter FLO your shaft/head: In which position FLOing is reached?
- Royal Decoration Proto's

shaft thoughts.....
Supo, really great post! Did you try UST VTS (black, silver, red), ACCRA Tour Z(+), Rombax Type X or Vaccine shafts?

New Ryoma Special Tuning Driver
Compared the Ryoma ST / Crazy LY Nero to Kamui 456 / Crazy LY Nero: The Crazy LY Nero is a better fit for the Kamui 456 head. At the moment the Ryoma ST is not longer than the Kamui 456 with the same Crazy LY Nero shaft. The original Crazy Longest Yard works much better in the Ryoma ST. Waiting for the Crazy RD SR....

Adding Weight?
Something I learned from golfwrx and tried it later .. +2 gr. tip weight = +1 swingweight = - 1cpm (for tip active shafts -2 cpm). If you want to get a more draw bias: 1. Try tip weights or look at http://www.golfsamur...e-on-driver.htm for different positions 2. I had succes with the normal fade position, where I personal can better feel the position of the head trough impact 3. Shaft/butt prolongation: + 1 inch = -8-10 cpm, so + 1/2 inch = - 4-5 cpm 4. If you have a good clubfitter, let him find the spine and rotate to a new position. Spine at 6 - easy to release, Spine at 12 - straight CB46 with spine at 12 I found hard to release. Spine at 9 - easiest to draw, but maybe not stable 5. Thinner grips Hope that helps!

Anti left shaft for Ryoma 10.5
Send T. a PM. Thanks! I played today the Ryoma D1 10.5 now with the stiffer Crazy LY01 R. With the 0.5 closed 11,5* Kamui 456 head I got a straight flight (or as I like a draw/fade). Tight dispersion. With the 0.5 closed 10,5* Ryoma D1 head I got a much more left biased flight / big hooks to adjust. Trajectory seems higher compared to the 11,5* Kamui.

Anti left shaft for Ryoma 10.5
I already ordered the Royal Deco SR after reading the very good posts "Ryoma+Crazy RD" at the forum..-) The flex of the Crazy Deco SR should similiar to the Crazy LY01 Nero R. A lot of people describe the RD half a flex softer (?). At 44,5 - 45,0 inch the Crazy LY01 R plays like a lot of stiffer profiles at 45,5++ inch. I let measured the cpm depending on shaft/club length. For 1 inch decrease in club length I got +8-9 cpm.

Anti left shaft for Ryoma 10.5
Thank you for the comments. I will pullout the stiffer Crazy LY01 Nero R of the Kamui 456 and install it without changing the grip in the Ryoma. Both heads are 0.5 closed, so I hope I get the same straight flight and tight dispersion as with the Kamui 456. On perfect hits the Ryoma is def. longer...-) With the softer Crazy LY01 R2 flex I tried a new grip. Maybe this is also a problem...

Anti left shaft for Ryoma 10.5
I´m a 95 mph swinger / slow hitter, sometimes with more agressive transition. I played the last days the new Ryoma D1 ST 10.5 with Crazy LY01 R2 (313g, 226 cpm, D0.5, 45.25``). Normally I play Kamui 456 with Crazy LY01 Nero R (314g, 44,5``, D1, 240 cpm). Cpm measured with 5´´ clamp. My normal trajectory is straight / slight fade. With the Ryoma D1 ST / Crazy LY01 R2 I got big high hooks. Only when I baby the shaft, I got sometimes very good results. I´m looking for a lower, more piercing trajectory. Which anti-left shaft to try in the Ryoma ST??

Ryoma Hi COR, when
It seems only some days and we can play the new driver. Due to ryomas website the 7th seems to be official.

Topping the PRGR EGG SPOON
My ss is 92-95 mph and I reshafted the Egg Spoon with Crazy FW80 6.4 (66 gr.). It is night and day compared to the M40 stock shaft. At 43´´ , 42 g. grip, and a little bit tip weight and 2 g at toe it come out at 323 g / D3. Best 3 wood I have every played (after reshafting!). If you top the shaft with more headweight (lead tape), your clubfitter should check the spine alignment of the shaft.

PRGR 2011 egg i+ Utility
I was in the same situation, because 25* comes only with M40. I tried Nippon 850 steel shaft, but hooked the combo. The Miyazaki C. Kua is a very good replacement for the stock shaft. My Miyazaki regular shaft is 40 cpm higher then the stock M40 shaft. Long, very long, high and straight. You get the Miyazaki´s (stiff, x-stiff) very cheap as a pullout from Cleveland Mashie´s. The Egg i+ as well as the stock M43 shaft are incredible good. In dont´t hook my 21* Egg i+/M43 (and I hook most other hybrids..).

Best 4 wood
Looking for a 4 wood 16.5-17*, easy to hit/forgiving off the deck, with a strong/piercing trajectory. Any recommendations for a good combo?

Best sound/feel CRAZY shaft - which one?
How does LY01 and Royal Decoration compare? What lengths do/did you play?
-
Best sound/feel CRAZY shaft - which one?
Played the following shafts: LY01 older model LY01 NERO FW 80 CB46 Best feeling shafts are LY01 and LY01 Nero. LY01 (older model) ist counterbalanced and gives a very good kick. For shorter clubs (44-44,5 inch) or lighter driver heads LY01 Nero could be the better choice getting more swingweight. Both shafts are very easy to load. LY01 Nero is my gamer (in Kamui). Very interested to see how LY01 and LY01 Nero will perform in my coming Ryoma head... With both shafts (LY01 , LY01 Nero) I got a much better feeling and much more distance compared to CB46. CB46 is maybe better with club length > 45 - 45.5. More a hitter type shaft. FW80 is a very very good shaft, too. With Egg spoon it is the perfect 3 wood shaft. Long and very straight. More about control than LY01 / LY01 Nero. As I understand Royal Deco is also a very good kicking shaft, if you like to play +46´´, but never tried it.

Ryoma Hi COR, when
Do they have problems with the manufacturing process / quaility?
