  1. Did you stay with the same flex in your wedges as your irons, or did you go up one? If I have S in my irons, do you think the X in the wedges would be a good idea? Just had the Shimada 110 and 120 shafts put in my wedges (yet to be tried out), but if these don't work out, I was thinking about the Modus 3's.
  2. Precision Golf - they have been looking after me for 7 years now. Against PX (my PX are the originals before they were bought out so better than what's on offer now) and KBS they were very close - PX slightly lower, KBS were a bit lower. My club fitter said the flight I got on Modus 3's were perfect and each shot same flight/ball spin. They are a shaft I have been after for a while, by that I mean, I play better more consistently when I feel I slow down (I am actually not, just better tempo) and this shaft just lets me swing within myself and funnily enough I get better results! Both my brother and the clubfitter said that when I hit the KBS, PX and the Modus in an X it looked like I was trying to hard and it was not as smooth etc. Also, if I did swing harder on the S, the shots were blocked right, which is something I can easily rectify. The S just felt right and obviously the swing and results followed. Happy days.
  3. Went for a visit to my club fitter in UK today to test: Pro Modus 3 KBS tour Shimada Pro As a bench mark, I hit one of my current club - 7 iron Miura blade with PX (6.2) - distance (av) 150 carry and 165 total, spin 5200 (Pro V1) Then hit 6 irons (these were the demo's): Shimada Pro in stiff - 160 carry 175 total, spin 5400 - felt heavy and had to work it - did not likey at all Pro Modus 3 (stiff flex) - 178 carry, 195 total, spin 5000 - WOW, WOW, WOW what a MEGA AWESOME shaft KBS Pro (stiff) - 175 carry, 190 total, spin 5300 - felt a bit similar to Modus 3, but stiffer and had to work it harder Tried Modus 3 again, but added a bit more weight to club - felt even better and went about four yards further. Conclusion: Going with Modus 3 in a stiff - really amazed at the feel and spin - hit 10 balls each shaft and the results for each shaft were consistent and the Modus 3's were by far the best (all tested on trackman). Swing speed av 86mph. Just felt I had to swing the club nice and easy rather than have to feel I had to have swing hard. These shafts are going on both my new sets: Miura black limited edition blades - 3 - PW Epon AF Tour PW, 9 & 8, AF 302 7 - 4. can't wait! UPDATE: Went to the club fitter to try the built clubs: The Epon 302 - WOW, absolute like a hot knife through butter. No warm up, first hit out of the middle (ball marks to prove it!). Miura's re-shafted with Modus 3 (soft stepped as well as the Modus with Epons) amazing too. 3 iron, really is like a knife! Will publish proper write up after some "special bonding!!"
  4. Thanks. My swing speed (measured about 5 years ago) for the driver was around 115mph but I am older (it's arguable I am wiser) and think I have slowed down and so will be re-measured next week when I go back to UK. Will certainly post results and give feedback. Won't be til Jan though as I am now travelling.
  5. I am relatively new to the forum and wanted to start to contribute on experiences etc. First off, Tario has been BRILLIANT and has never ceased to stop to help. He has assisited in selection of wedges, wedge shafts, Crazy driver and now two Crazy driver shafts. It is the Crazy driver and shaft I will share my experience, though the story will not end here. Earlier this year I purchased an R11 and had my clubmakers in UK build it with a Fubuki Alpha 70X5ct X Flex cut to 44 inches. When I received it I spent a long time tring it out and eventually ended up with the head on the following settings: 9 Degrees loft Neutral Club Face 6g weight in heel 1g weight in toe The distances ranged from 260 yards to I kid you not 340 yards. Generally there was never much roll (I use PV1x). The driver never became consistent either and so I took some video footage of the swing and saw that on the down swing at 9 o clock position, the shaft was bent like a (huge) banana with the arc facing up rather than down! I compared it to driver videos of players on tour and their shafts pretty much stay straight. After reading about the Crazy driver and shaft and after much discussion with Tario, we decided on the 435II 9.5 deg head with 80 LS shaft 7.7 flex, 45.25 inches long. When it arrived - wow what a tool! Anyhow, I spent a while using it and for sure the shaft was awesome, ball flight quite low and penetrating and LOADS of roll and consistently straight but felt it was hard work. I remember being on the range and one of the european tour guys was bashing his R11 into the back bunker and so was I!!! His face was a picture. Weights in the head were all 1g's. Anyway, I liked the feel of the club at address etc, but wanted a lighter feeling club, to feel the head more in the swing and I could not really feel the shaft kick. So, back to poor old Tario (thanks for your patience) and a discussion about the Royal Dec. I decided on giving this a go and three days ago a stiff arrived. So I am going to swap the 80ls out and put the RoyDec in and then also put the 80LS in the R11 as Tario felt with putting the sleeve on it would soften the shaft a bit and this wil also be a good test as Tario was not aware of a crazy going into an R11 yet. (Only thing is I cant get hold of the interchangeable sleeve att he moment!!). So, when the drivers come back I will have some fun doing back to back tests and hopefully have two mega drivers! Story TBC.... After a long wait I got to try the Crazy head with the new Royal dec shaft (spec 46.5 inches long and swing weight D2). As you can imagine, the excitement and anticipation was electrifying. The club looked and felt great. In the hands the shaft felt a bit whippy to what I am used to and also VERY LONG!! I hit about 40 balls with the royal dec and compared it back to back with my current driver TM burner tp with mitsu javln X stiff, 73 g cut to 44 inches. It did not go well. For sure the royal dec is longer but it went left right and straight and no way near as consistent as my old driver. Even got one of the club pros to watch and he was amazed at the difference. So given the old club is still being hit well, I guess my choice in royal dec shaft is wrong - which I am gutted about as I love the crazy head and the shafts - just need to find the right one, but its getting expensive. Tario has been excellent in his advice to me, I have just gone in the wrong direction. So my quest continues to get the right Crazy Shaft or do keep trying to make this baby work for me? I don't really want to change my swing given I am good with the old one - just want a lighter shaft and more distance as I am getting old! The original Crazy LS 80 is being put into my R11 head and I am going to see how this works. Views/suggestions would be appreciated as I need a bit of cheering up!
  6. Thank you - I was hoping you would chime in as I respect your views and I think your right about the Shimadas - they do. I knew as soon as I hit them they were not right. I have been told the super peening are essentially a dynamic gold clone???? I hiot my old miuras with orogonal PX today and hit them SO much better than the new ones.... I am baffled. Good point on that - I had not thought of that. Still not an easy decision without the ability to try various shafts out...... wish I was in USA or Japan and not the UAE!!!! Thanks guys.
  7. I am seriously confused and need expert help from you wise owls here on two irons: I recently had Miura Tournament ltd edition blades built for me using Shimada Pro shafts (I already had the tournament with old generation PX 6.2 shafts and really liked them) but thought the shimadas would be a good alternative. Well, after three days of solid practice/playing, I just aint getting the Shimadas. They feel heavier (although swing weighted to same as previous set) and feel I have to swing really hard to get the best out of them - which I do not want to do. My pro has said to go back to my old set!! I like the PX but seems people dont rate them here? If I could have a similar feel but in a lighter shaft is this possible? Suggestions? I am also going to get some Epon AF tour 5-PW and 302 nr 4 iron. What is the advice on shafts for these? Can I/should I use same shafts as the Miura's. liking the thought of Crazy tour lites.... Swing speed with a six iron is 85-90mph and I swing best with smooth tempo. I would rather go for lighter shaft. Help greatly appreciated.
  8. The slippery slope your on results in endless pleasure! I have Miura tournament (6 - pw) and have had them for 5 years. They are simply fantastic to hit and I find them quite forgiving but if you do hit a bad shot the club will tell you! (though shaft and grip combo can help towards removing the bad feeling. For me, the feel you receive when hitting a pure or as near damn it is worth the search for the next one, and the next one...... Pros - the feel they give, looks, weight. You just know your hitting something made by true craftsmen, and the passion they have passes onto you. Cons - the pure shot makes you go on a relentless search for more! I like them so much I have just ordered the limited edition set!
  9. I have a set of Miura black wedges (feel too hard), then changed to Titleist Custom black (not hard but still not the feel I want) and then when found out about the Titleist forged ordered these and am awaiting delivery. Will post report once I receive them.
  10. Thank you - I have a feeling I am gonna enjoy being member here.
  11. Hi, I am new to the forum having found this fantastic site through searching for Titleist forged wedges ( which i have just ordered) and would appreciate advice on shafts for woods. I have Fubuki shafts in my R11 driver, burner tp 3 wood and R11 rescue. Specs are: Driver a70 X 75g cut to 44 inches 3 wood fairway ax f75 X 78g Utility ax hybrid 400h S 80 g I would like to change to Crazy on all and obviously can't test these living in the UAE and would value your thoughts on what to get. I am a smooth swinger (tempo 27/9) but like to hit the ball. Not sure if this helps but I have video of the driver shaft bent like a banana at the 9 o clock position on downswing and I really mean like a banana! Thank you in advance.
  12. Indeed it is a tragedy for Marco's loss and horrific to watch. A huge talent destined for greatness. Thoughts and prayers to his family. For Colin Edwards and Vale too.
