  1. Oh...and don't compare feel when you've got a C Taper Stiff in an iron with your 6i SS. That's can't feel too great compared to a 5.0 PX or any softer shaft. Apples and oranges.
  2. The 302s will feel more clicky and sound "hollow?" on off center shots, especially thin ones. This was confusing because for me I was getting good results on the mis**ts and was like...these things aren't soft, they're clicky and hollow. But the shot results was more like I hit the sweet spot because of their surprising forgiveness... After a little more dialing in I realized I was missing the sweet spot more than I thought, and adjusted accordingly. What shaft was in the 302? I know it sounds strange but a NS950 S shaft always gives me a heel side strike, I guess due to toe droop of the soft tip section. A stiffer tip shaft could lead to more thin toe shots. If they don't feel soft, you aren't hitting the sweet spot, plain and simple. If you pure a 302 it feels like you hit a bouncy ball out of a supermarket vending machine instead of a golf ball. Since you're accustomed to hitting Pings you are probably playing the Epons too far out on the toe. With any Japanese player's iron try playing them more to the heel side of what you're used to... Could also just be the 502s or 501s are more suited to you. No shame in that either. I'd try and hit them again using this advice and see what you think. I have to believe based on my experiences that any 15 cap or better should have little trouble with the 302s. After playing player's irons for a while my ball striking has improved so much that when I hit a forgiving iron now it's automatic.
  3. That is gonna be an insane set. I want to put a set of Recoils in the 2013 OnOffs I hope are waiting on me when I get back from Colorado next Wed. The more sensible part of me wants to stop hemorrhaging money on golf clubs when it is 16 degree for a high outside and snow on the ground for the foreseeable future.
  4. You're killing me guys
  5. Dang it must have been nicer in STL than up here. Although yesterday I did chip a few balls around the yard but it was way too soggy and windy yesterday to be actually playing. Some of my flop shots I was hitting were plugging 2/3 of the way into the ground.
  6. Great info. Sounds like a winning combination. Yeah the Aeros are unlike anything I've ever hit for consistency and dispersion. Kinda make me wonder how many past shots I've missed and how many were the shaft! I think the way to think of them isn't as graphite shafts, but to think "I'm getting dispersion and consistency of rebar stiff steel but with the feel of soft steel" It can't make it have rebar style dispersion AND full blown graphite style softness I guess. To me they give c taper results with ns1050 feel and DG ease of use. Ok sorry for the thread jack now back to your regularly scheduled programming
  7. Looks like you hit the brown water pretty hard before taking and loading these pictures.... haha GLWS man
  8. How are you liking those Aerotechs? I am trying to decide what to put in my OnOff Forged that should be here in the next couple weeks. I kinda wanna go Aerotech's because they're a known quantity but at the same time the Recoils are very tempting. I've got a line on a set of pulls but they are the 125X so likely I would need to soft step them. Love me a rebar stiff wood shaft but for some reason not so much in irons.
  9. I'm trying to get one bought. No luck yet.
  10. Off the deck means hitting it while the ball is sitting on the ground. Be it fairway or whatever.

Looking for a good used Egg 5W. Head only preferably unless it has a Crazy FW80 7.7 or 8.2. Might even consider a 7.4 since I don't crank on a 5W too hard. Pm me thanks
  12. The one spot in my bag that seems safest is still my Egg. I know they're not for everyone but its been great for me. I too am curious to see if anything new comes out that might give it a run for its money this year. I'd like an egg 5w actually. I've got a 15* - 21* gap in my bag.
  13. ^ I'd like to see those iron Byron results!
  14. There's at least 2 of us with Aerotechs in the Personals but there's snow on the ground and generally miserable weather so I haven't been able to play and the other guy with them has hit them just once I believe. Good old upper Midwest winter.
  15. R series is lower CG higher launch. I want to try them both. Yesterday.
  16. Isn't this a cavity back? There's...a cavity...meaning a hollow spot...between the muscles. I like the way it keeps a traditional look but uses heel and toe weighting to improve playability.
  17. When someone penned the phrase "the grass is always greener on the other side," they clearly had Stew in mind.
  18. Pm sent
  19. Maybe it is just me, but I can't hit the 501s worth a damn. In my book the 302 is way easier to play particularly for a digger. Well struck shots have similar rewarding feel. The 501 is more bladelike at address with a smaller sole and less offset which appeals to many. The 302 might be the easiest to hit players CB on the market that doesn't give up much workability. There is a fair amount of GI in the 302 for a "player's iron." I think the 2013 Onoff Forged is a real winner too. Hope to have mine from TSG in the next couple weeks.
  20. I have not hit this head. I bought the head and shaft separately. They are not a combo I just had them dry fitted for pictures. They're in my office in separate boxes right now. I kind of just want someone to buy them so I move them on. Hate to fall in love with something when most rounds I play I can't legally use it.
  21. It would be a huge benefit to me right now as I try to get a set of irons to d4 without putting 14g of lead or tungsten down the shaft!
  22. I'd have to imagine Epon would be able to verify and track serial numbers for limited edition products...otherwise why even have them? I'm sure they could tell you what run and what retailer it was sent to but whether or not they could or would tell you what exact number it was out of 300 is hard to say. I have no reason to believe that Epon wouldn't be on the up and up about the quantities produced of limited models but its pretty well documented how its been done by other companies. Make limited edition at high cost. Create large demand. Sell out. Make more. I personally would find it very interesting to know what # of the 300 or 500 or whatever my limited edition whatever might be. It's just part of the pride of owning something limited and costly.
  23. I may be all wrong but my guess is that because all muscleback irons across all brands seem to almost universally be higher priced that perhaps the lower consumer demand forces a higher retail price per unit to recoup the R&D and tooling costs for that model. Add in the appeal of anything stamped with the 4 magic letters T - O - U - R and an additional weight port over the muscle cavity version and that probably accounts for the variance in price between this and the other models.
  24. Are these available yet to purchase through TSG? Not in pro shop that I can find. Otherwise I would have put it in my cart and sat there with my finger hovering over the "checkout" button for at least 2-3 nights by now. :)
