  1. People consistently say that Jbean and Maxima go the furthest. With USGA rules being what they are... what's the reason for the extra distance gained from these clubs?
  2. I use a 2011 Maruman conductor. It cost $175 brand new still in the shrink wrap. The club is automatic. Just brush the grass with it. It's 14.5º so it's a little stronger than normal, but not any less easy to hit. It's endo forged, and has the classic feel of the club face catching the ball - that I love about JDM clubs. There isnt one on ebay, probably because its so good, people refuse to take it out of their bag. There's are a lot of the 2008 version on ebay. I wouldn't waste a cent on those.
  3. Use a distance golf ball. If your swing is a lot slower then maybe a lower compression ball would fit you well.
  4. I have an 8 year old driver. I recently tried the titleist D2. one is a pro driver the other is more game improvement. The longest drive with each were exactly the same. 292yards. One carried further, the other had more roll out. The game improvement club was about 15 yards less offline. So, for me - old and new max out the same. The D2 had a longer average, by 8 yards.
  5. They already make drivers that are a lot longer. They just don't conform to the USGA/R&A rules. What's so annoying about Taylormade releasing a new driver every 6 months. What's the point? They might as well space things out. Recent rule changes regarding clubs has only gotten more strick over the last 5 years.
  6. How was your abilty to shape the ball with this club? specifically a cut/fade The Ping G30 SF tec has a similar heel weight that turns a draw into a 70 yard hook, and a slice in a straight pull.
  7. It is. First 18 hole course I ever played. in the late 90s it was only $20 for an 8am tee time.
  8. What course(s) did you play in Monterey?
  9. Good Question. I'm wondering the same thing
  10. I'm watching a video on the new Vizard shafts, and they're mentioning "pull style" can someone explain to me what that is? Seems to be related to slower swing speeds.
  11. i like how the weights placed on the 717 + it comes with the armrq8 for no additional charge
  12. Distance wise I can't imagine hitting any driver further than I do my current one. With a 103 swing speed, and hitting a toe hook i can get 270 carry, 1900 spin, and 295 total. My average in neutral conditions is about 255carry 275 total, but on any given swing I can be 30 yards offline on either side. So I guess I'm looking for = distance more forgiving.. I have the new ping G30 hybrid and man that thing is automatic. even the Maruman 3 wood, off the deck, is a lot more forgiving (as 3 woods tend to be) I'll look into the 727s. 4 different versions though. Not sure which would best suit me.
  13. It's Bayonet Golf Course. A public course between $45-$75. It's in the (mostly shutdown) Fort Ord Army Base. Bobby Jones decided to have Alastair Mackenzie design Augusta after playing Cypress Point. Cypress Point and Augusta are ranked #2 and #3 in the the world. If you're on the central coast and you want to play an Alastair Mackenzie course that's public an affordable check out Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz. Very difficult to walk. Mr MacKensie designed that course to wear you at key spots.
  14. Couldn't agree more. Not sure if the 2008 Maruman is Endo forged, but the feel is amazing. it feels like it catches the ball rather than just colliding with it.
  15. I'm playing a driver 7 years old. I bought it 3 years ago, and I hit it pretty well. I only struggle when I don't swing in to out. There are some current drivers that have caught my eye. Yahama RMX, and Honma TW. I'm just wondering how much advancement there really is in these newer drivers? I Obviously I can't demo them, and all the new domestic drivers I've tried I don't like the feel of at impact at all.
  16. "Just an update on this club as we have been getting a few emails about the new Modart MA01DS Driver, Suda-san told me it's the same thing as the MA01D but designed for the adjustable Hosel"
  17. I say forget forgiving irons. Learn to swing better. get a blade 6 or 7 irons and only practice that on the range.
  18. I owned the 2014 VG3 for a few months. The feel on those clubs is amazing. It really is. The issue I had with them is the way the lofts were spaced out. only 2º separating the 4 and 5 irons. 5º between the 9 and Pw. I was using blades for 7 years before buying the VG3s. The weight of the chunky head didn't appeal to me either. short irons the head felt to heavy. On the 4 iron the shaft felt too whippy. The 6 iron was the sweet spot in the set. I sold them Got Mizuno with KBS shaft. Every happy with them. I have a 12-15 yards (carry) gap per club, which for me is ideal. I can see why A lot of people really love the VG3s. Probably why Mizuno modeled their JPX850 forged after them.
  19. With the NSPro 95 they're D1. With S200 they're D2
  20. I received my set of these a few weeks ago. I put the 6iron through it's paces today on a launch monitor this morning. These clubs are long, and the feel, to me, is amazing. They feel both very soft, and springy. Which are characteristics I'm not sure were synonymous with each other in the past. With a 6 iron, mid 80s mph club head speed, and a swing that launches the ball too high (still having difficulty keeping my wrists cocked on the down swing) I got 165-168y carry and a 172-175y total. Drawing the ball I averaged total distance in the mid-high 180s. On one miss hit, that I didn't even initially pay any attention to I thought it was so bad, carried 150y and flew less than 10 yards offline. I ordered my set with the Dynamic Gold S200. This shaft feels a little light to me, and I haven't seen how stable the ball flight is in the wind, but the clubs feel good enough that wouldn't feel bad about having paying to have them reshafted. Although I am regretting not ordering them with S300.
