  3. Hutchy, these are beautiful! GLWS. Were these done in mirror, satin, or smoked copper? I love how it has patina'd so far. Reason being is that I want to send in one of my Hogan sets in for the copper treatment someday, either one of my Personal sets or my Apex '99. Kind of leaning toward satin right now.
  4. Haha, nice observation. Probably because, like me, she has a $hitty swing. She's looking at cold medicines too??
  5. I absolutely LOVE the crown finish on these. I wish I could see this finish on some of the current woods. I wonder if someone can refinish woods to look like these?
  6. Yeah, she gets my peening blue super stiff! Haha. For me, I think Dr. Fujikura has got a cure for my shaft...unfortunately I am a speeder :( That was a little TMI. lol
  7. Many people choose to replace their long irons with either a wood or hybrid because that is what they prefer. It may be because of their swing (hitter, sweeper, etc.), how a club looks at address, etc., it is such a personal decision. If you are strictly looking for a higher launching club to replace your 4i, and you like to hit your long irons, I would recommend looking for either a more game improvement 4i or a compact-mid sized hybrid. However, if you are more comfortable or have good success hitting woods off the deck, then a FW or larger hybrid may be better. Hybrids come in so many sizes now, some are really compact and iron-like and others can almost be considered a FW. How a head feels is another big factor too. As you can see there are many things to consider. The only real way to be sure is to try out some clubs or see them in person (if possible) or really do your homework to be sure before you buy. If you are looking for a FW equivalent for your 4i, I think a 9 wood is actually the equivalent, or build a shorter 7 wood? It all depends on your current carry distances. You want something that will give you the specific yardage you are looking for, which would require hitting and testing the club. Another thing you could consider is changing the shaft of your current 4i to something that launches higher. My 7W distance fits between my 3W and 4 hybrid. It's closer to the 3W actually. I can sometimes carry the 7W almost as far as my 3W, but it just drops and goes nowhere. But I specifically built it for that fall-out-the-sky Charlie Sheen "Terminal Velocity" type shot. Really, I just wanted to do something like this https://youtu.be/UwNcCX_3zBo , of course about 30+ yards shorter :) Yes, head weight is very important when trying stuff like this. I was lucky that the Yamaha head was pretty light, so even with the longer shaft the swingweight came out ok, D3 or D4.
  8. I am currently using a Yamaha I.F.F. (2008?) 7W shafted with a Crazy FW80 at 42" 5W length. Essentially I wanted a 5 wood that I can hit suuuper high and would just drop and stop. The other 5 woods I had tried were good but I didn't feel like I could hit them high enough to attack and hold greens the way I wanted to. The longer 7W allows me to do that. The face is hot and has a solid metallic "tink" sound. The I.F.F. is nothing fancy, just a straight up solid fw. A great cheaper alternative. Picked it up based on the recommendations of others here. Another good 7W I have tried is the older Nike SQII. Not JDM, but plays great. I alternate between the 7W or 19* hybrid depending on the course and conditions. Mostly I keep the 7W because I can get that long crazy high/soft shot. I can not get that with the hybrid. The 7W is not bad off the tee either for shorter narrow par 4s. It just goes really high unless you knock it down, sometimes too high for the trade winds we get here. If I could try (afford) a new fw I would love to try the A Grind, looks so pure at address.
  9. Chris, no problem. I can totally understand all the liability issues that would come with offering adapters.
  10. The pic of the ONOFF stand bag makes me want to sit on that bench and eat box of chocolates. lol Chris, I don't like the proprietary hosel adapters either. Would we able to get adapters through you? I have been looking for one for a PRGR Egg 7 head that I have.
  11. Supo, Yes the Krank is very average in performance. Sound and feel is very harsh. But it is more forgiving than most would give it credit for and that feedback is something I wish I could get in other heads. But yes, average of average. The ZY-11 is what the Krank was supposed to be, disappointing especially with all it's success in the long drive championships. We're not all built like Tim Burke unfortunately :( I just got my Shingo 358 (mostly in part to all your praises) and it is impressive. I have only played 9 holes with it then a short 15min range session right after. Going to be trying a couple of shafts to get this tuned in for my swing. The face is HOTTT and has a beautiful, hot, explosive sound. I know this one will be a keeper along with my ZY-11 or some time. I also highly recommend the Shingo 358 to anyone to at least try.
  12. +++1 on giving the ZY-11 a try. I have both the ZY-11 and Krank Formula 5, which the ZY-11 face shape was supposedly based on by request from Yamazaki. Their face shapes are similar, but they are very very different from each other. My Formula 5 is a 9* head but it launches like a 10.5*, it is NOT a low-spin head...it spins a little more than I would like actually. The sound is harsh, almost painful to my ears at times...think glass breaking. I cotton-balled the head and it sounded like hearing glass break on the other side of a wall!! Haha. Got rid of the cotton after that. As for feel, the face feels very hard, like the head is a solid chunk of metal, but in a good way. It is definitely not one of the longer heads, but it is very forgiving and very straight. I've hit it on the extreme toe/heel and the ball would go straight and still carry about 85% of a middled hit. Although sound and feel is harsh I did find that it gives the best feedback of any driver I have hit. You can tell exactly (within millimeters) where you hit the ball on the face. Now, the ZY-11 is an amazing driver. It has the same trapezoidal face as the Formula 5, but it has the same classic round/square J-Beam 435 shape at address. Sound and feel is totally opposite from the Formula 5. Sound and feel is muted (not dead) due to the foamed head, but it has a nice solid-hot "tink" that jumps off the face. Sound and feel reminds me of a slightly muted version of classic, sub-400cc era drivers of years past. Loft (and shaft) selection is critical for this head as it launches low-ish and has VERY low spin. My head is a 10.5* but it launches more like a 9.5*. The low spin is the biggest issue for me and I am now trying shafts with a higher launch/active tip to help keep the ball in the air longer. The head has tons of roll which is really nice. It is also a VERY forgiving and straight, probably the straightest and longest head I have hit.
  13. Jumbo will always be "the man" to me. He was a Beast! Too bad he wasn't more successful when he played against the world's best. I think his endorsement can definitely help 7D get noticed by high end customers who only looked at gear from the mainstream brands. Just depends how they market it. Makes me wonder how this would play shafted with a 7D?
  14. WOW is right for the crown finish on that GIII !!! Definitely would be Gold Member's driver of choice! ...and the ONOFF gear looks great too :) Really like that stand bag having lunch in the park.
  15. Great! Japan experience stuff would be cool too. Getting me more excited to go back to Japan, planning to be there in April. Is the golf fair open to the public?
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. Was interested how it compared to other drivers as well as current stuff. Nob-san, you mentioned that it was lower spinning. What is the ZR-30 like in flight and trajectory? The TV announcers mentioned that in his career Ricky has hit it into the water on that 17th hole 9 times.....9 times!!!! You would think a pro would kind of learn from that stat.
  17. Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this driver. Hideki Matsuyama won last week, but has been gaming it for last handful of years.
  18. I picked up the Roberts puller off the bay recently and it has been serving me well. It's built a bit rough around the edges but is solid. However, if I had high $$$ shafts to pull I might still bring it to my builder. You can never go wrong with Mitchell equipment.
  19. Looking for another Crazy Boron Stiff shaft. Shaft length preferably to play at least 44.5" - 45.0" installed. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the comparison between the two. I have a 5-PW set of Modus 130 S sitting on my bench waiting to get shafted. However I'm thinking I need at least the R flex as the shafts feel like XX rebar when flexing them by hand. I wont know for sure until I shaft them up and test them out.
  21. ZY-11 w/ Crazy LY-01 6.9 T.388 w/ Kaili 60s Orig 435 w/ Diamana B60s All are equally as long but have different launch/trajectories/purposes. So far I am loving the muted, but solid, feel and sound of the ZY-11. Best feel of the three. However, I am not so impressed with the LY-01. I feel like there's still easily more distance to be had out there with the right shaft combo with the ZY-11. I love the feel/sound of the 388 as well.
  22. I apologize to the seller as this is getting a bit off topic from the sale. However, I highly DO NOT recommend playing Ko'olau as it's condition has gone downhill severely. In the past I would be confident to say that it was one of the premier courses in the country, if not the world. I believe ownership of the club changed hands a few times and I think is now owned by a church group. I played the course about 5 months ago and sadly it is in very poor condition. The fairways were pretty much rough with mostly the native wild grass, bunkers like hard packed clay, and the greens were almost unplayable. It felt like the course does not have enough staff to up keep it. It seems whoever the current owner is, they just are not putting enough financial support to keep the course in the condition it should be. I don't think I will play there again unless the course returns to it's former condition. It's really sad to see such a great course go downhill like it has.
  23. Reggie, welcome to Oahu! Yesterday indeed was very windy. As for suggestions where to play, you have two great courses lined up already in Ko'olina and Waialae. Both are host to tour events (LPGA Lotte Championship and PGA Sony Open). Wind will be a huge factor on both courses if it's blowing like it did yesterday, especially at Ko'olina. Good luck. The Turtle Bay courses on the North Shore are nice as well.
