  1. Guys can you help out a brother make a decision? I'm loving my jbeam blackout 9 degree, 1.5 open face so much right now. Super low spin and launching head. Its a beautiful thing for a high ball hitter like me. However, I see that so many of you jbeam fans are playing the zy11 or so it seems. I am very close to pulling the trigger on my order for the 7d shaft (BTW guys lets do this 5 person deal that Chris offered us!! please). Should I buy the ZY-11 and try that before ordering the ultimate 7D combo OR just stick with the Jbeam blackout (I'm going to order the same head if I go with blackout)? It could take a full month to order the new zy11 head, test it out a few rounds, before deciding. Is it worth trying before I order the shaft? How is the forgiviness of the zy11? I know that its important to determine the head before ordering the 7D.... what do you guys think???
  2. Completely agree with nob. shallow face wood would not work well as the ball would get even higher. I have a yamaha inpres 3 wood which is very shallow and forgiving but too high of a ball flight for my liking. I lose 20 yards using that head. I'd suggest a deep face wood. I like open faces with flatter lies, so I'm playing an exotics cb pro. Callaway super deep is also a good head, even though these are not JDM. I would love to find a great JDM head, but have not found one yet that stays in the bag :)
  3. Perfect timing, was about to order. Count me in!
  4. Sweet! cant wait to see your reviews
  5. can the fw be custom ordered to open face?
  6. Robbie - have you played the blackout? How do they compare for you against the zy? I currently have two of the jbeam blackout heads

How's the crazy blades play? I'm currently gaming af tours with dg s400. I have two shaft sets on the way amt s400s and super peening blues. Thinking of going with amt for the crazy mbs

Sweet! You picked up those custom crazy mbs from tsg. I was considering customizing my naked set of crazy heads. So beautiful
  9. haha - whats your SS?
  10. What was the flex you tried? I got it in a 7.4, which should hopefully be plenty stiff for me. I'm hoping that flex will help with the dispersion
  11. Anyone have experience with this shaft? I just picked it up in the BST and was wondering if any of you have tried it. I'm a high ball hitter and shafts that fly low work well for me. Most shafts produce too much spin for me. I like to play push draws and rarely play a cut. Recently I tried a TRPX Aura SX and it was a bit too tip active for me. Currenlty playing Kuro Kage proto tini and xt shafts. Thoughts? I'm going to order the 7D after trying this shaft.

I completely agree, I dont know why most manufactures still use velcro. I love the byron morgan headcovers that have the magnet closure. I normally slip on byron cover on any putter I use for the convenience.
  13. same here - love the Iomic Black Armour 2.3

OP If the KK shafts fit your swing, its a phenomenol shaft in so many ways. Misses dont balloon but are straight and strong. Control and feel can't get much better imo. However, If you like to feel an active tip this shaft is not for you. As reference, I recently shafted a TRPX Aura SX shaft in an indentical jbeam blackout and it is way more tip active than the KKs in both 60s and 70s.

I have a lot of experience with the Kuro Kages. I have been gaming the Kuro Kage proto tini in both 70s and 60s (this shaft version is the predecessor of the XT shaft) after a fitting last year. I was fitted to a KK proto tini 70S tipped. Played that until the KK XT was released earlier this year. Bought the XT in both 60s and 70s. These KK shafts (proto tini and XT) are different than the black or silver tini series. The XT and Proto tini are extremely tip stiff and keep the ball down very low. I think the shaft works well for players that hit the ball very high and have aggressive down tempos. My friends who are all scratch and have smooth transitions have a hard time getting my drivers up in the air. If you hit the ball low, this shaft is not for you. I was gaming the XT 70s in a Epon 102 9.5 loft for most of the year. Worked out really nicely, although I would have preferred less spin. So I ended up getting a jbeam blackout 9 head to lower my flight and reduce spin. I shafted it with the XT70s and my misses would be low hooks. The combination of the low flight shaft paired with a low head jbeam wasnt working out as it really wanted to go left. No joke, my friends who bomb drivers 300 yards easy could barely get the ball in the air with this combo past 150-200 yards haha. I could still get the ball up fine, but again my misses were low left pulls. I reshafted the jbeam with a XT 60s which helped a bit but still similar misses. I ended up going back to the proto tini in 60s with the Jbeam head and perfect flight! push draws all day! Strong trajectory. The proto tinis compared to the XT are a little softer in the tip and produces slightly higher flight than the xts. So I strongly suggest deciding on the shaft depending on the head you plan to use.
  16. Has anybody other than RLL33 ordered the 7d with only the questionnaire? I would love to go to Tokyo for the full fitting, but don't think that's going to happen this year. Also, does the 7d shaft only work when built long? I am 5'9 with abnormally long arms and low wrist to floor of 31". I play a driver of 44" and my irons are 1 inch shorter than standard 3-4 degrees flat. I dont think I would play anything longer than 44.5. Would that be an issue with the 7d shafts? I'm currently playing a jbeam blackout with KK proto tini shaft.
  17. wow thats a steal for the epon 153. I paid more for the just the head alone.

irons with less offset should also help lower the flight

yes, I agree its not about the lofts but getting the right amount of distance gaps between them. Loft is not the only factor. Everybody's swing is different, so someone elses loft gaps are not always going to work for you. I play a 46 PW and 50/56/60. Effectively I get approx 138, 125, 115, 103 on full shots. I play strong lofts because I hit the ball super high. Even with my strong lofts, I hit the ball higher than my friends that use traditional lofts. My strong lofted 4 iron has the height of most average 6 iron shots that I see. Therefore, I don't see any reason why you cant use strong lofts as long as the distance gaps work for you and have enought height on the ball to land softly on greens.
  20. I personally don't think a degree or two will make that much of an impact considering the bounce. I play the Epon AF Tours and I bent some of the short irons a degree or two strong as I hit the ball very high. No problems with the turf for me. Plus these are all forged, so you can always easily bend them back if needed. I've also bent irons for several of my friends and they have not had any issues. I have a Loft and Lie so I tweak each iron till I get the desired flight and distance.
  21. anyone thoughts on these Crazy MBs vs. Epon AF Tours? Epon AF Tours have been the purest and most forgiving blades I've ever played. I hope they perform at that level. I want these Crazy heads to pair with the new dynamic gold AMT shafts when they come out next year.
  22. How long does the club play?
