putting a 1 iron shaft in an tourstage airmuscle 3? Basically currently got a graphite stiff shaft, want to lob in a DG x100, and possibly make the shaftl onger to make it a 'real' driving iron - any suggestions? - what would happen to swing wieght etc - or what could I do to make it a really solid driving iron (not to bothered about fairway shots etc - just want something for the tee) thanks

I bought some lightly used nc1 heads from tourspecgolfer in december, I have still not got them made up, sadly i now need the money (didn't help buying maru spec wedges also!) - anyway - 9/10 hardly used! I have a 9degree tourstage xdrive 325 prospec, I would love to try and make it a 7 degree club (to see what would happen!) Is it possible to do this - how would it be done? thanks in advance for any help!

thanks for the reply! If I had a 2 iron, would the 38.5 shaft be the one to use? (I ask as I may not bother with my tourstage and keep it for a 2 iron or so I know thats the shaft to pull . I.e so that club is 'hardstepped' - but only that one? thanks!

Got 'custom' fitted - turns out that my mizuno mp33/37 X100s are pretty damn good for me! (grouping 97.7!) Anywya - the guy did say that I could get away with a softer shaft (but did say cold weather/time of year would explain slower ss), but the S300 would be to soft! So I need something inbetween... - and luckily I have already got what I can see as potentially perfect flexed shafts and heads :) anyway, I need to put my nippons into my nc1s 3-pw, need one in my gap wedge and possibly one in my tourstage airmuscle....if the shafts 'work' - i.e. I ordered 10 shafts from Chris - got 38.5", 38, 37.5, 37, 36.5, 36, 35.5, 35, 35, 35 now Which goes in what? (The specs I was given) My plan is- 38.5", tourstage air muscle 3 (38.75") 38, 3iron (38.75) 37.5, 4 (38.25) 37, 5 (37.75) 36.5, 6 (37.25) 36, 7 (36.75) 35.5, 8 (36.25) 35, 9 (37.75) 35, pw (35.25) 35, GW (35) Will this be ok - or will it mess up the flex (if anything I would rather have them playing harder, but I think the above = more of a 'softstep?) As said the x-100 were very good, could do with a flex in between s300 and x100, but obviously had best results with x-100 so stiffer = better for me.. I am assuming that this is 'right' in the sense the longer club length = shaft plus hosel to an extent.. Thanks for any help! (hope its clear :))

thanks- just got a tape measure out and I now see what you mean (even though the measurement is fractionally out with the but of the club - but then I am using a tape measure......) ANYWAY 1 more question - if the shaft is uncut - at 35", then depending on the club that shaft would be good for a 37" (due to the hossle for example?) - is that right? thanks!!!

I have jsut had a custom fitting session, and to my surprise I am Mr standard! Thats a standard in Mizuno. In a mizuno 6 iron I am standard = 37.25" I was wondering how this is measured? Also - if I want to use my nippon 1150s X, I have 38.5"-35 in 0.5 increments, so if I want to make my 6iron 'standard' what would happen? the 37.5 cut? or can 0.25 be added to the 37? How would it be added? thanks for help.

this is my baby, 1992 ST185 CS , rally homogulation (spelling?) - so only 5000 worldwide (known as RC in Japan), only 440 officially in the UK, and only 40 in that colour in the country ( and some say thats the worldwide figure!) - so pretty rare :) When I start earning more money going to mod it to a point - improve the handling (suspension, brakes, bushes), new wheels!, hyrbid turbo, downpipe, intake, exhaust and full respay (same colour!). Would love lots of torque! - but for now I am as happy as can be. Its completely stock at the mo (came with that bonnet !) good job tourspecgolfer :)

I got my nc1 heads and shafts - jsut need to get fitted and the thigns made -bring on the 31st for fititng then 7/8th for collection of my new babies- can not wait!!! Glad its worked out for you - you were unlucky -I bought mine about a week before you put yours up!

thats so true- its already playing merry hell on my mind, I was told by a scratch golf at my club its for tour pros only yadda yadda - but if I don:t get it done then I will always wonder - also - this is my :perfect: set in theory - so to me its worth it thanks

Back to square one. Basically I want to get custom fitted by this company - they 'deal' in nippon shafts - I have the 1150 and at least they have heard about the shafts (other companis I have approached have not!) Thing I am stuggling with now is the SST puring, just not sure if I can justify the cost - I am not a tour professional - I am a club golfer.... I need some unbiased views - I spoke to one of my playing partners (scratch hc) and his thoughts were that I was mad to get the shafts pured... Sadly I do not know enough about the process - I have searched and read a several posts about it - how will it benefit me and my brand new 1150 nippons? would you say its worth it>? sorry if this has been covered before - I am confused and unsure how to proceed. Cheers Joe I have possibly found an alternative - who supposedly has fitted david love and lee westwood - going to see what he charges and act accordingly. Heard he 'is the man', but in theory this mans fee should be $$!

tbh no idea on the quality of their workmanship - but another member has used them before- (them being precisiongolf) and said they were good...

tbh from what I ahve read gonna fork out the dough -think the clubs deserve it ;) Before the hammering they'll take with me on the other end lol

I haven ow recieved my NC1 heads and nippon 1150 shafts, I have just been on the phone to a custom fitter and the cost is- £60 for custom fitting Then £25 per club to get them SST pured and 'made' Then I would go back a week later and get a final 'fitting for lofts etc. So overall will work out at around £300, this is about $530... Is that the 'going rate'? Anyone? TIA!

Thank you! More questions - how you heat the solution? What clubs can you use this technique with? - I presume any raw finish? - or do you have to do somethign before doing this? Finnally - I have soem Chrome nikes - what can I do with these? if I recall right you need some really toxiz stuff to strip them? - presume thats not diy? -Wouldl ove to get nikes finishedi n a black and fill the tick in white - would look soooooooooooo good!
