Thanks guys for the responses. The boys are 7 and 5. The eldest has been playing for 2 years and the youngest for over a year. They are both hooked! Now this brings back good memories and tears (of pain)! My father has always been a Mac Gregor and Hogan blade Man. And I learned with his Hogan Directors then got hooked and felt compelled to get a set of Apex which I still have to this day. (to my wife's despair). I agree with Stew and Ant. The Apex were firm, hard, unforgiving and crisp. Not everyone's cup of tea but that's what I liked at that time. Then discovered Miura and Kyoei relagating the apex to collect dust but that's another story!...

Wow good job C! Now I am sure a few here amoung us would get into satinizing mode big time. Since you got practising and home your technique fancy doing a few more sets ;-) My Miura blades and wedges could do with a bit of botox satinizing to erase all signs of ageing! F

The more I look at them the more I want them..........................The Headcovers! Those are really cool looking. With such great headcovers they are bound to play great! I am a Miura fan at heart having owned their CB and blades but still a blade man. It do notice that Miura is going down the road of bigger size CB, but this has not always been the case. This most certainly to appeal to a wider audience. I still have the CB-1005 in a combo set with the MB-5001 blades and the CB-1006. The CB-1005 was the smallest of the two. The forging quality is there you are splitting hair to determine which feels better or is more forgiving. As feel and forgiveness are subjective depending on your swing. You will be satisfied with any. I would agree with Spoon select an iron that pleases your eye. It will give you confidence and pleasure. Good luck keep us posted.

I am surprise no JDM has developed similar concept yet or even improved on it. They are normally always at the forefront of technology innovations.

Eca, Yes the proto are the first version of the C-Taper. I have found the C-Taper to produce a lower ball flight. Out of the two the protos suited me better. Both brilliant shaft and you do gain in length. F

Eca, Although I have not played the modus, I have gamed other nippons and liked their responsiveness and the smoothness . I am currently gaming the KBS Proto. For me and my swing at this point they represent the best risk reward ratio I can find until I find something better! They are super tight, smooth, provide a late kick and a soft landing which I like. Big improvement on the PX satin which was my favorite. Certainly a shaft to consider. F
