A great day for Betti
:tsg_smilie_cool: I played yesterday afternoon and had a sensational day with my Betti BB2. Stragely the trick to this club has been adding the sugar to the shaft. A number of puts went in and I also had a number of close misses. The thing is this. The course super has done a great job on the greens and they are now very quick. That said the distance control on my putting yesterday was just superb. I know a thread similar to this has been posted before, however I learnt the sugar/sand down the putter shaft from this site, and it has made all the difference. Thanks TSG!!

Mizuno teams with Bettinardi for new putter line!
My view is this is a simple branding exercise. RJB obviously has a great perception out there in the golfing community. The fact that a number of manufacturers are prepared to jump into bed with him speaks volumes. No doubt Bob is looking for scale, through these associations. Cameron has had his association with Titleist from day one. I like all others will be interested to see how the association with Mizuno progresses. Love Mizuno. Love Bettinardi. That said, my "non branded" BB2 will be staying in the bag.....at this stage!!

Tourstage XD435 vs Taylormade R7425
In my view the Tourstage simply looks better at address. Just my 2 cents worth.

** UPDATE ** GFT-FW by G-Field w/REAL PICS!
:tsg_smilie_cool: High praise indeed from the master. Chris I know you were a fan of thhe UX-2 for a long time. The question now is do you put in a Gauge fairway wood and a Gauge utility (I know this is yet to be released) or two Gauge fairway woods?

New clubs honeymoon period
:tsg_smilie_confused: Well guys, besides being an incurable HO, why do we have this honeymoon period with our new clubs. You know what I mean. We buy the new driver and suddenly we are twenty yards longer than Tiger, dead straight. The first four to six weeks is fantastic, then of course, the damm thing starts to lose direction and distance. The same can be said for irons, wedges and putters. Do we tinker with the newies to get them just right or do we get newer newies?? This doesn't just apply to the hackers, if your a touring pro, it may even be worse. A number of times I have read of a touring pro using four different putters (one for each day) and winning the tournament. I would welcome the opinions of others on this subject.

TRUE TEMPER - 200 gram putter shaft
:tsg_smilie_wah: How sad!!! Betti would have like a new shaft!!
-
TRUE TEMPER - 200 gram putter shaft
Man, this is great news. I guess it would be better than sugar in the shaft. :tsg_smilie_confused: Pity it doesn't come in a fluted model for blade putters or does it??

Quality of Japanese Clubs
The status of golf in Japan dictates that the price will be higher there. I'm sure there are plenty of Publinksers using Mizunos in the States. The market in Japan is driven by status, the market in the States by price. I bought my MP11s in San Francisco and think they are great, even if the man swinging them most of the time isn't. I would like to think the Japanese product is completely made in Japan, but having received the information from this thread this is not the case.

golfernut78's bag
:tsg_smilie_cool: Well there are certainly plenty of options in your bag. Good to see someone else subscribing to the sugar in the putter shaft. I believe this really does make a difference. Overall a great bag!!!

The New Tourstage ViQ Series!
Ditto, plus 1, I think a number of us are eagerly awaiting Chris' review on the new VIQ driver. Mate those BJ protos must be designed by a true HO :tsg_smilie_wink:

Tourstage X-Drive 435 w/PT-6
:tsg_smilie_cool: Chris personally I like square heads. Each to their own of course. The pending $64 question is to compare the 435 with the new VIQ. A Merry Christmas to all, Phil

Custom Shafts---Is there a difference?
:tsg_smiley_yes: Night and day is the answer. My advice would be to go to a custom club fitter or two in your area and have your swing speed, height and reach measured. They could then recommend shafts that fit you, in terms of length, weight and flex. Unfortunately stock shafts fit very few people. Just my 2 cents worth.

Golfebj's Bag with Pics
I have to ask for a review on the Ashton driver. I have been surfing the web like everybody else and the Ashton did catch my eye. Your comments would be appreciated. :tsg_smilie_cool:

Japanese vs. Other manufacturers?
It probably comes back to the issue, that the only similarities between an OEM sponsored players clubs and those you buy of the rack at K-Mart is the paintfill. It also comes down to the difference between golfers and people who play golf. A purist (a golfer) will seek out the very best clubs for their game. A person less interested will be happy with just the brand name. Phil Mickelson spent weeks at the Cally factory changing the COG on his driver. You can buy custom made Mizunos from this site. Why would you shop any where else?

TOO MANY GREAT LOOKING DRIVERS BEING RELEASED

Some new Driver images! XD435 and T3 Black!
:tsg_smiley_yes: Chris, I know you love it but man are you going to be busy!! The new XD 405, the new PRGR, the new VIQ range, the new G-Field range, I've probably missed something. All tested on range and course and reported in triplicate (only kidding) But boy oh boy, you're going to have some fun :tsg_smilie_cool: Sounds like HO heaven to me!! :tsg_smilie_wink:

Buying clubs without trying
FEEL A launch monitor can't measure that. That's why the equipment companies love us. That's why the metal in the irons has become softer. The next best thing to trying before you buy is to take the advice of your fellow HOs :tsg_smilie_cool:

Need more length from driver - getting old !
I am inclined to agree with d**ksy. I don't know your age JET, but swingspeed of 105 should get the ball out there a long way. I haven't been a fan of Titlesist drivers either. If you are looking for something really special, I'd look at the new VIQ. The shape of the crown at address is absolutely classic. So far as shaft selection to get the most out of it, plus 1 and Chris are the gurus.

The New Tourstage ViQ Series!
:tsg_smilie_cool: Thanks Chris. The shape of the crown at address is very, very good. Someting for everyone with this. Spaceage sole and an imaculate traditional crown. A real winner!
