I personally have NOT tried it. But Nippon Super Peening sounds like a good fit. I'm thinking of ordering the Nippon S.P. Orange 9 iron shaft in S-flex for my next set of wedges. It'll be a couple of months till I get my new wedges so I'm hoping you can try it first and let me know how it works out. lol Bat FWIW, I'm also using the 1150 in my irons. The trajectory of the S300 in my wedges are ok but it's a little harsh for my taste.

Didn't like their previous models at all. These look much better IMO. Not sure about aluminum and epoxy though. Bat
  3. Does it starts with an "E" and ends with an "O"?
  4. Here's a quote of their description of the Ping i10 "...with a noticeably penetrating ball flight created by its low centre of gravity." Hmmm Reeally?? Also, along with the incorrect photos of the Epon and Srixon, the Snake Eyes pictured is the 675C not 675B. Bat
  5. They clearly have no clue what they're talking about. Just look at their review of the Srixon i701 - "The press-milled face increases spin control in rough and wet conditions, and a new sole design reduces turf drag from all lies. Decent performance and solid feel were plus points, but a slight lack of forgiveness in our test meant that Srixon’s offering fell a little short of the top scorers." First of all, the i701 (non-tour) doesn't come with press-milled face. I'm also willing to bet that they are by far one of the most forgiving sets in the test. Certainly more forgiving than MP67, MT-Pro, ZB Forged, TP Forged, etc. Of course we here know they were probably talking about the i701 TOUR and not the regular i701. But it just shows how incompetent they are by using the regular i701 in the picture, title, AND description when they're clearly talking about the i701 Tour. I really feel sorry for some their readers that may not know any better. Bat Btw, AF-301 HARSH?!! you have got to be kidding me.
  6. I wouldn't say that the AF101 feels any better than the ZR (they feel Very similar) or go much further on center hit if you're fitted properly for both. But the improved forgiveness is definitely noticeable. Also looks much better at address IMO. Bat

Golf Pride Tour Velvet. The No1. feels nice and tacky but a little too soft for my preference. Didn't like the Iomic either. Bat
  8. LMAO. This has got to be the funniest equipment name/photo ever. I'm not a fan of the busy text/graphic sole but the "dice style" dots are kind of cool. Bat

This link could be very informative for people interested in the Rombax series of shafts. Unfortunately I can't read Japanese. So I'd appreciate if someone can please help me read the octagonal charts. T? Bat

Here's a list I just made of offsets in the #4 of some cavity back irons in inches. My Type S is somewhere in between the Mizuno MP60 and MP57. Don't forget to keep in mind that offsets progress at a different rate for each model. So a list of offsets for short irons may look very different from this list. Also, the design of the hosel will play a major role in how the offset LOOKS as opposed to these actual measurements. 11. Yeah, I hit a few balls into the net with the 208KGX a couple of days ago. Sets up very nice and didn't tear up the ball as much as I was afraid (I only hit the satin finish). I'm still waiting to hear more on this new Royal Collection DB WS wedge though. Are these out yet? I may have to stick with Callaway and get their X-Forged wedges unless I get to try these real soon. The AF-501s have a more aggressive progressive offset slope than the Type J. Meaning the offset decreases at a greater rate from the long to the short iron. So while it's true they have more offset than the Type J in the long irons, they actually have less offset in the shorter irons. IMO, it's perfect for a combo set. I've been using the Type S with 1150 for almost a year now and have yet to find a better match. From address position they appear slightly larger than the Type J but noticeably smaller than the 701s. It's larger than MP60 but smaller than ViQ Forged. I'd say it's pretty close in size to the Fourteen TC-550. Topline is about the same as the Type J with very slightly wider sole but less bounce in the short irons. If you're looking for quality forged JDM irons with forgiving long irons and solid workable short irons, there isn't an iron in the market that can top this. Well, at least I haven't seen one yet. Does anyone know the tip diameter of the Tourstage X-UT? Thanks, Bat
  14. Does anyone know what DB/WS stands for? Dual Bounce / Wide Sole?? I prefer the less busy graphic of the 6150TG but I'm sure I can get used to this. Can't wait to try these against the 208KGX (although Spoon's pictures of the 208KGX shredding golf ball covers are turning me off a little). I hope these perform as well as the 6150TG. Bat

There's nothing quite like the RC 6150TG. If you're looking for maximum spin and feel look no further. The Fourteens has a very nice profile and good spin but not quite as soft. The RC and Epon are definitely softer IMO. Both are some of the best out there but I personally prefer the more compact RC. Bat

Hmmm... Firmer and lower. Sounds good to me. Too bad it's only for the ViQ. Bat

I'm not sure about other models but the Epon Technity (flat black) is a cheese grater. It feels great and put a ton of spin on the ball though. My favorite high-spinning wedge has to be the RC 6150TG. As good a spin as any out there. It'll still chew up the ball on a full wedge shot but much less destructive on touch shots than the Technity. Smallest head I've ever seen in a wedge with subtle milled face and black finish. The only reason I'm not getting it is because I have a sickness of wanting my 52 and 58 wedges to match. The 52 just spins too much for my chip shots. Bat

Anyone? Btw, this is what I was talking about http://www.tosan.jp/golf_iron_bs/ibs0703.html. I can't find anything about it on Tourstage.com. Thanks. Bat

Does anyone have any info on the NS.Pro V90 shafts that's an option for the ViQ Forged 2007? Are they available for sale or a proprietary Tourstage only shafts? How do these compare to the 950GH or 950GHWF in terms of weight, trajectory, feel, etc.? Thanks Bat
  20. Looks that way for the 8-PW. The longer irons has more offset though. Player's CB generally has less offset difference from long irons to short irons than larger CB. In this case it's only 0.9 difference from #3 to PW for the 301. The 501 has a more aggressive progression slope with 1.9 difference from #3 to PW. Nice chart Breal. Let's keep this going with more irons when you have the chance. Thanks for the info. Bat

You might also want to take a look at the New X-Blade CB. I haven't tried them yet but I'd definitely give it a shot if I have your game. Might not be as forgiving with the it's minimum offset but looks like a lower CG than the J33CB IMO. Bat
  22. Bat replied to tincup975's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I know how you feel. Those ONOFF247 / Miura CB202 look sweet. Especially coming from a set of J33CB. I don't think these will launch the ball any higher than your current set though. They still have pretty long hosel and the cavity design is not much different from the J33CB. If you want more forgiveness overall with not too much offset, I suggest you take a look at the Tourstage X-Blade GR, PRGR is3 501, and Epon AF-501. But if your ball striking is pretty consistent you might want to try the Epon AF-301 or PRGR is3 500BL. They won't be much more forgiving but should launch higher with a shorter hosel and lower CG than your current set. I don't think the PRGR is getting enough praise around here with their modern cavity back design. They make quality irons IMO. Bat
  23. I have to admit that it looks MUCH better without the paint fill. With so many wedges to choose from, they're going to have a hard time competing if they keep coming out with designs like this. Bat
  24. Similar, but like you said, day and night in terms of forgiveness for sure. Looks like a nice blend of the 04 and 06 X-Blade CB with the trapezoid indent in the cavity for some forgiveness. I think the design makes sense. I gamed the 04 model for a season before switching to these Type S. The 04 irons had too much offset and the sole was a bit too wide for blade like cavity back. The mass in the trapezoid of the cavity didn't help it's forgiveness very much either. The 06 has a nicer address profile for a blade lover but not very forgiving at all. It's more like a muscle back with shallow cavity. You might as well use a blade IMO. I haven't hit these but the 08 model looks like a winner. It has the offset and sole of the 06, top line similar to the 04, and a cavity design that looks as forgiving as it gets without compromising feel (deeper cavity than the 06, heel-toe weighted with some "meat" behind the sweet spot, and no undercut). I'm sure being forged by Endo doesn't hurt either. It's probably too much club for me, but I know these will keep popping back into my mind if my game ever get better. I'm curious about the inner magnesium alloy though. How much lighter is it than carbon steel? Is it mainly for vibration dampening or for more forgiveness? I guess I'll have to try this when I get a chance. Bat
  25. Saw this one in person yesterday. Didn't like the sole design but it's much prettier at address. IMO Much better looking than the V-GT at address. The "V" in the groove design reminds me of the J33R. Bat
