  1. Has anyone tried both of these shafts? Can anyone compare feel, distance, dispersion? Considering putting the Code 8 Firm or Blueboard 83 Stiff in my HiBore XL. Would the Blueboard Stiff feel more stout? Currently using a VS Proto 80 Regular which I like the feel of, but it occasionally balloons in the wind and I could do with a flatter downrange flight, with slightly more roll. Also have a VS Proto 80 S Proto shaft in an Adams Idea Pro hybrid which I have absolutely no problems loading with my fast tempo. ~95mph and increasing with the driver. Thanks.

I'd also be interested in knowing how stiff the Roddio is relative to the Quattrotech. Currently playing a Quattrotech SR in an Epon 10.5 (~95mph swing, fast transition) - would the W6-BA or W6-WA in SR play stiffer (all things being equal)? Would I gain anything by putting in a Roddio? Anyone have experience with both setups? Thanks.
  3. Is it possible to get the 45* Yururi Gekku Black pitching wedge bent to 46* to fit with a 52/58 wedge combo? Chris, I see that you are playing a Yururi PW with a 52 and 58. Are you playing with a 7* gap between the PW and 52? Are Black Golds out of the question with this wedge?
  4. Yeah, I don't have many JDM options. I could get a Toursstage VIQ TF1-C to match with my irons, but the head seems really big and there appears to be some offset. I tried the new Taylormade Rossa Monte Carlo #7 in the shop today. Nice compact shape and I could really tell that it was putting a great roll on the ball. The only negative is that it felt a bit light - this is coming off a Yes putter with a 355 gram headweight versus the 340 in the Monte Carlo.
  5. Looking to get myself a new putter. Face balanced centre shafted putters suit my eye and my putting stroke, but the choice out there isn't huge. In your opinion, what's the best option - both JDM or USDM - available? Whoops - should this be in the Flat Stick Forum? Feel free to move.
  6. Just the kind of info we need to make informed buying decisions. Thanks gocchin!
  7. Thanks for the initial review Willy. Your swing numbers are not too dissimilar to mine and I absolutely know that the 2007 X-Drive 460 would be too much club for me, so its good to hear that the GR is definitely higher launching and more forgiving. I used to have a 435 with PT-6 too and I experienced the same hard draws. Weird - haven't hit another shaft since that wanted to go so consistently left on me. I guess that's not the shaft for me. Did you notice any difference in feel or acoustics in the GR versus the 435?
  8. Great write up Gocchin! I used to have an X-Drive 435 and I agree that I prefer more of a tink to the muted thwock sound that it provided. Does anyone know whether the feel or acoustics has been changed in the new 2007 X-Drive? I remember seeing a video on Inpakuto where they tested the new 2007 X-Drive line-up and the sound seemed a little higher pitched than I remember my 435 used to sound.
  9. .....must resist! Seriously though, gonna wait for some feedback before I pull the trigger. So keep it coming in! Thanks.
  10. Any feedback on the X-Drive GR yet? Is anyone able to comment on the differences in spin/ball flight/forgiveness versus the 2007 X-Drive? Has anyone tried it with the Rombax 6X07? I used to have a 9.5* X-Drive 435 with Tour AD PT-6 stiff but at the time my 95mph fast tempo swing couldn't get it to kick enough, therefore spin and ball flight was too low. I'm thinking that the new X-Drive GR might be exactly what I need. I'm looking for some info so that I can decide on the best fit for me and whether I should be going with the 10.5. For reference, I'm currently playing a standard HiBore XL 9.5 with VS Proto 80 regular - which was identified as being the best fit for me at a demo day. I want to get back to using Tourstage though! I'm thinking that this coupled with the Roddio Pentacross might be a killer combo! Chris, is this an option, and if so how what's the upcharge? Thanks everyone.
  11. I play the Callaway Fusion irons with the NS Pro 990 Uniflex shaft which is also mid-kick. Weight is pretty good - Dynamic Golds feel like they take too much effort to swing - and I also like the feel of Nippons, although a slightly more penetrating flight would be even better. I've been considering getting graphite in a new set of irons though because my elbows get a bit sore. The R7 TPs interest me and the RE*AX 85 seem not to be too light for graphite - which is good - but I'm just concerned it could play a little loose with it being low kick. Thanks Gocchin.
  12. Great info. Are the frequencies measured with a 5" clamp?
  13. Does anyone have experience with this combination? I might be getting a set of R7 TPs and this along with NS PRO 950GH S is a consideration. Specs sound quite good - 87 grams in stiff - but my concern is that they appear to be a low-ish kick (high flying) shaft in a relatively low flight head. Anyone played this combo? I have a medium to late release, strong transition and have about 160+ carry with the 7 iron - would I probably get better dispersion and ball flight with the Nippons?
  14. New Callaway Hyper ERC Driver! http://www.callawaygolf.jp/press/index.html Anyone know anything about this driver - features/characteristics/who its aimed at?
  15. I think I read somewhere before - maybe on Honma's website - that their irons are cast. However, the finish also plays a big part in how soft a club feels and Honma treat their irons such that they feel relatively soft (I've tried a few sets before). The body of the MG801 is forged, but I think the rest of their range are cast. Somebody corret me if I'm wrong.
  16. I've had the pleasure of using my father in law's Honma MG460RF driver and the thing is like a rocket launcher! Even mis**ts want to fly 300 yards and straight. The sound at impact is like somone firing a gun next to your head might I add!

Nice! Is that dog part of their logo? Any idea when it might be released? Thanks.

Do Epon make any bags? I'm sure some members would be interested if they did, and it might sway me into finally splashing the cash on those type X's! :tsg_smilie_money3:

Yep, I saw a competition where you could win one of these drivers in a UK magazine. It seems to be a new offering from Srixon. Not sure which market its intended for though, and it does appear to have arrived without much of a fanfare or anyone having heard of it.
  20. Haha, yeah. I started thinking about this topic because I was fantasising about how fantastic a Japanese version of the FT-I with a premium shaft would be! So would you say that the Driver technology in Japan is more centred around how the club feels rather than providing forgiveness? What does the use of many different types/treatments of titanium in the latest Japanese drivers offer - is it purely a feel thing? I say this because surely if they wanted to increase MOI this would be better done using composites - however, not many Japanese drivers have gone down this route.
  21. With the radically designed square drivers being introduced by Nike and Callaway I'm intrigued as to whether any Japanese company is planning on introducing anything as radical in the near future - seeing as they are meant to be at the forefront of golf technology. Is the Japanese market much more traditionalist and would they tolerate Nike and Callaway's new offerings? Will the Sumo and FT-I be released as is or tweaked for the Japanese market? Does anyone know anything or care to speculate? Incidentally, when do new clubs tend to be released by OEMS in Japan?
  22. Thanks for the info. No wonder the irons were being discounted 50% on the Japanese websites I looked at. Looks like I'll have to keep waiting patiently for the MX-25s! If only I saw some pics of the Mizunos I wouldn't have to keep ho'ing around! :)
  23. There's not much discussion of Works Golf equipment in these forums, but some of their equipment at http://www.dyna-works.com/english/index.php looks great! I noticed that the Works V-01R driver has been added to the pro shop. Has anyone hit this or the conforming 'V-01R PROSPEC' - how long/forgiving is it? Also, does anyone know much about the X-01R irons? They appear to be some kind of super MOI iron, but the lofts do not appear to be ridiculously strong compared to other thin faced irons. I notice that some Japanese shops are now discounting this iron heavily. When were the X-01R's released? Are they being updated (hence the price drop), or are they just not selling well?
  24. Spotted a new set of irons and a driver under the name of "premium light" in Mizuno Japan's JPX line-up (see their website). Has anyone hit these clubs or know anything about them? Is this a high launching range of clubs aimed at slower swing speed players? The irons seem to have very strong lofts and the driver only appears to come in R-1 and R-2 flex - whatever that means.... They sure look good though!
  25. Those irons sure do look good. I'm not sure that I'd be able to hit them well though. I'm curious - how much forgiveness do these irons offer? How would they compare to say the Mizuno MX-23? Or, are they much more of a players iron and more comparable to the Mizuno MP-60?
