  1. I would recommend the 202s to you based on where your game is at and where you want to take it. The amount of help they give you will be a big advantage for you now and outside of a little more offset than the others (X and 33s) look very "player CB" like. There are plenty of people out there that consider the 202s one of the best, if not the best combos. of forgivness and playability. Sole grind on the Xs is great but also very good on the 202s. The fact they will be quite a bit cheaper than the VIQ is just an added bonus.
  2. Face progression is a measurement of offset. The smaller the FP number the less offset. An easy low tech. way to use it is to look up the FP numbers on a set you are familiar with and use that as a base when comparing the FP numbers of other sets.
  3. Off the top of my head from what I've played. TS-202: Target would prob. be mid to higher HC. Very easy to hit. Still suitable for low HC as long as the offset doesn't bother you. Pretty amazing how good this iron looks at address while still being so darn easy to hit. Great iron but a bit more offset than I like. TS-201: A little more compact than the 202 with quite a bit less offset. IMO best suited for a mid to low HC. Think it is or was one of the most popular TS irons on the JPGA. X-Blade CB: IMO a mix of the 201 and 202. Less offset than the 202 yet easier to hit than the 201. I think any HC within reason would be happy with this one. This iron is in my bag now. MR-23 US Spec.: Great classic CB blade type iron. Very little offset and on the smaller size. Def. for the lower HC crowd. Z101: IMO these US released irons didn't have the same feel as the others. Forgivness and size wise prob. closest to the 201s. All of these Japanese TS sets are top notch forgings and have that great TS feel. Good luck.
  4. My pleasure. After purin' one with the 202s you'll never go back to the 804s. I had the 202s 4 a season. The combo. of feel and forgivness while still being quite playable was 2nd to none. If they had less offset they would still be in my bag.
  5. The 202s have some pretty strong lofts and hit it a mile. Such a sweet set though. Def! worth adjusting or getting use to.
  6. no. he had some funky moi mallet with a red insert and hollowed out back piece. didn't look like a zomo. Looks like a Corza 2 me. From what I see the Corza is the most used Rossa out on tour.

FAQ it seems you have good knowledge of the 27s. Would you agree with me that the 27s are in the same category as the TS-202s? Basically a little chunkier head with more offset than most true "players" CBs. Really a great compromise and marriage of a players and game improvement CB.
  8. Great pics Chris! Saw the 1st. pics over at golfwrx a few weeks back. In the tourney pic at golfwrx you couldn't tell it had the weights. I'm not even close to the biggest TM fan out there but this looks VERY nice. Reminds me of the 503I (which will prob. never go retail) and to a lesser extent the TS Airmuscle. Basically hybrids based on irons, not woods. Here's the big question. Is it coming retail?

My MP-27s have virtually the same offset as my buddy's MP-60s. YUCK. The 60s have that much offset? I've owned the 27s and sold 'em cause of the offset. I would have thought for sure the 60s being a more "player" CB would have less. That's too bad.
  10. Agreed. The older model def. looks better but I'd still love to try these. thanks 4 the pics. btw. the wedges do look REALLY nice. Love the look of the grinds

27s will have quite a bit more offset, be a tad more forgiving and cost more.
  12. I think it's a great looking head. But hey, of course I like it. The X CBs are one of my fav. irons.
  13. Literally just got done hittin' my X CBs. I'll tell ya, if these are not considered "player profile" CBs then our definitions of what that is are mighty different. Smallish head, very little offset and DEF. 'blade like' @ address. As far as feel and quality vs. Srixons... I have never hit the 505s, but if they are built better than the Xs and feel "better"... then the 505s must be simply AMAZING. btw. Chris, I thought the Xs were forged @ Endo Thailand?
  14. Just looked at pics of the 505s. They def. borrow some design characteristics from the X CBs. I do not believe the companies are related. Srixon is a Dunlop company. TS is Bridgestone. Both obv. also in the tire biz. I would guess that they are competitors in both industries. Looks like a case of 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'.
  15. To my eye the offset on the J33 Combos and X CBs looks pretty much the same? I own the Xs and have only seen/held the 33 Combo. so I might be a little off. Anyone confirm that the Xs have more offset than the 33 combos.?
  16. I can say for certain that the basic shape/design of the 33combo. CBs is the same as the X CBs. I've heard the sole is modified on the 33s and based on a post Chris made, the X CBs were forged by Endo and the new US Bridgestone is being done at Nelson.
  17. I would have to say ebay will be your best bet at this point in time. Pretty sure a new set from Japan is gonna run ya $1000+.
  18. Sorry I don't have a lot of time right now but I'll give a really quick response. First of all they're AWESOME. Very little offset, prob. close to a Titleist 690.CB or Tourstage TS-201, yet quite forgiving. Sets up like a players blade/MB at address. Feel is butter soft as with most Tourstage irons. I think they would be a wonderful progression from the 202. I used to play the 202s and wanted less offset with all the same positives as the 202s. These are a winner.
  19. What's this??? Miz. custom can no longer be sold in the US??? I guess that would explain why the Chris' custom MP-60 thread is gone
  20. Yea, thanks a lot for the update. The wear on the 8 iron does send up some red flags. Looks like it was hit off the cart path

    Appreciate it bro

Great question. It def. is one of my fav. Miz. custom finishes. A set of the 60s in this finish would be really nice, though I think it looks the best on the MBs. The pic of the 33s Chris had posted a while ago with the shinny blk. finish are still one of the best looking sets I've ever laid eyes on.
  23. Totally agree. Based on aesthetics alone, the MR23 blades are second to none.

So even though the older Japanese X-Blade CB and new J33 combos. look the same (3-7) the Xs are Endo and the Js are Nelson? Also have to remember. Different grades/types of steel can be used in the same foundry depending on what the OEM requests. So the Titleist irons and Tourstage irons that were both forged @ Endo can feel/be totally diff. I know I've never hit a forged Titleist iron that has felt as "soft" as some of the Japanese Tourstage irons.
