Lennie
I finally had a chance to play 9 holes with the M/B's today. I am very well pleased with them. They are (as has been said) very forgiving for a blade style club. My handicap is 12 and I am a decent ball striker. I hit some absolutely beautiful shots with these clubs today. Nice tight draw pattern. On the last hole, a par 4, I hit a 5 iron to 10 feet from 170, went to the 150 marker and hit a 7 iron to about 8 feet, and then went to the 100 yard marker and hit PW to about 8 feet as well. So far I am impressed with the TC shaft and M/B head combination. Excellent feel. The clubs are not visually intimidating at all, unlike many blade sets. I even hit the 3 iron pretty well a couple of times. My mis**ts occur when I rush and spin my hips out early. This definately produces a poor result, but it's me, not the club. I would say that anyone struggling with their swing won't find alot of help here, but if you are a decent ball striker you'll fall in love with these as I have after only 9 holes. A plug for the clubmaker......Joe Kwok is a master craftsman and did a great job even though he's never seen me swing a club. I did provide him with a great deal of detail about my game and my swing. Here are the spec's for my set: 3 iron: 58 lie, 22 loft 4 iron: 59 lie, 25 loft 5 iron: 59.5 lie, 28 loft 6 iron: 60.5 lie, 31 loft 7 iron: 61 lie, 35 loft 8 iron: 62 lie, 39 loft 9 iron: 62.5 lie, 43 loft PW: 63 lie, 48 loft Tour Concept S3 shafts, minus 1/4 inch. D-2 swingweight throughout except D-3 PW. Tour velvet grips. java script:emoticon('') Cool Please feel free to ask me any questions you'd like. +TourSpecGolfer
Here are a few more pics of Lennie's actual set of Studio MB's.
joey3108
Received my custom Gauge M/B irons from Joe this week. Â The pictures that follow are Chris's and my actual club photos are posted a few messages down. Â My clubs have the work "Studio" on the lower toe area of the clubhead......very nice looking touch. Â Visually, the clubs are all I expected and more. Â Unfortunately, due to the bad weather here in North Carolina I have only hit the PW and 7 iron off the mats at my course. Â I had hoped to play a round today but right now it is snowing and sleeting here. Â I will post more comments when I have a chance. Â The TC (Tour Concept S3) shafts certainly produce a lower ball flight and the clubs are dead on accurate as far as I can tell with my limited use. Â Joe Kwok is obviously a master craftsman and did a great job even though he's never seen me swing a club. Â I did provide him with a great deal of detail about my game and my swing. Â Here are the spec's for my set: 3 iron: 58 lie, 22 loft, 241 gr D2 4 iron: 59 lie, 25 loft, 248 gr D2 5 iron: 59.5 lie, 28 loft, 253 gr D2 6 iron: 60.5 lie, 31 loft, 260 gr D2 7 iron: 61 lie, 35 loft, 270 gr D2 8 iron: 62 lie, 39 loft, 276 gr D2 9 iron: 62.5 lie, 43 loft, 289 gr D2 PW: Â Â 63.5 lie, 48 loft, 293 gr D3 java script:emoticon('') Cool Please feel free to ask me any questions you'd like. I'll pray for the weather, so you can wack 'em. :smile1: Thanks to you who trusted me to handle your new baby. BTW, Something is not right w/ that CPM numbers. They are just way off my charts. Who measured them and what kind of machine he got? YOu might want to double check that one and make sure the clamp was tighten the same tightness on every one of them. Just a head up! Joe
joey3108
OK now I understand where the problem is. LOL! Those number are actually the weight of the heads that i marked on every heads w/ sharpies. And on the lie you only missed the PW, It's supposed to be 63.5*. And those are Joe Kwok Standard lie. And all the .1, .9 , 1 are just my calculation when i'm working to make the swing weight calculation perfectly. Every iron are perfectly on D2 sw except the PW at D3. Tolerance will be 1/4 sw "if any". Sorry for the misunderstanding! Joe
plus1
wow guys, i get got mine today, shipped by chris of course....thank you! the pics of these REALLY DONT do them any justice. they are pure beauty! they really do inspire confidence = sleek blade look with alot more forgiveness! the heads on them are similar size to most modern blades, however they do have a lot of weight in the sole. from what i can see the amount of weight in the sole is progressive from normal in the pw - most in the 3. all in all they are what i would call the 'new style of combo' where they short irons play like players clubs should and the long irons are easy to lauch with tonns of forgiveness. so anyhow i took them to my practise ground and got stuck into a full session. all i can say is :-)!!! at the moment they have s300s in them (which i will be taking out soon to replace with something stiffer) this taken into consideration i found that the ball flight was normal, and i would say for sure lower than the mp32's! workability was v.good also but the most impressive part of them was the feel.....buttery! all in all im very impressed and hope the honeymoon period lasts! Lennie let me know how the TC work in them, thanks bud
+TourSpecGolfer
I have never felt anything better than the pure struck shot with a Gauge MB #3 Iron. I never really thought of them as a progressive sole weight blade, but that explains why they are so easy and forgiving.
MGB
You can see the soles are a bit thicker than most blades. That indicates a good amount of wait down low for forgiveness. I love the machining marks on the back of the blade and the squarish toe at address; a lot like my Mizunos. Thanks for the pics!
noraagolfs
They look beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are they size wise, heel to toe? I'm playing Srixon I-201's right now and dont want to get much smaller than them. I have also had TS TS-201's, RAC LT's, and TM 300 TOURS. Which is the closest in size? THANKS, I just might have to get me a set !!!!!!! AARON
Lennie
These clubs are what I would consider more "traditional" in size.......more like the RAC forged C/B rather than the L/T.
achu28
joe, this is the exact reason why you are the top guy in my book! when so much attention is paid to the details, you really can't ask for much more!! now, i just wish i didn't have to spend all my $ on my bathroom renovations... :yuk: OK now I understand where the problem is. Randy
How are the Studio MBs different from the standard MBs? Just curious, as I have a set of the MBs and don't know how they could get any better. Thanks Randy

+TourSpecGolfer
Good review Lennie, I'm sure your honey moon period will be long and glorious! I am in round 2 of the honey moons with my Gd's. I took them out of the bag for 2 rounds and now they are back in. If I had to pick an Iron set for Best of in 05 I choose these. +TourSpecGolfer
Wow that is a pretty bold statement considering the jpga show hasn't even started. It just makes the wait for the cbs that much better. putting profit aside and with the results I'm getting, as I told all my close friends that ask me to sift through the hype and tell them what I would shell major cash out for its the Gauge MB's. I would pay full retail if I had to. If your looking for a players CB I highly recommend it. More forgiving than my Tour Fusions, 2005TP's, MP27's, and Hiro's. BTW this year at the show we have a video camera man and a digital camera man, several translators so we will be offering much much better coverage than last year. I have 1 scratch player who is 17 years old and one 9hcp who is 40 years old that will be testing all this new stuff giving us feedback on video so you guys can note their swings and the sound of the new equipment.
