Posted February 27, 200519 yr comment_81389 Taylormade was very kind to TSG this year giving us top tour / design contacts to help clear up the mess and confusion someone has created :o I spoke with Mr. Sean Toulon Vice President & General Manager of the Taylormade-Adidas golf company, he was very helpful and totally recognized the website when I mentioned TSG. I asked why Japan gets their product first and it always has more technology and better options... the reason i was given was you can do so much more with a 1000.00 driver than one that only costs half that amount. When I asked what their goal was with all this Tour Issue equipment on the market i was told there is no goal, and this stuff is leaking from the PGA tour but soon will slow due to a change in the way players are on contract as well as less tour stuff is given out than a year ago. He also said the R7 allows them to make less Tour Issue equipment due to its adjustable weighting. I asked about Fake non authorized TM Tour equipment coming out of China in bulk and he said its uncontrollable and they don't have the ability to stop it because it can be coming from a number of inside sources including employees in China. This is the case for many companies made in china, so far IMO only Mizuno and Callaway have taken big stops to prevent it. I was also told that authentic Tour Issue equipment has been sold in bulk a handful of times to several shops but that doesn't account for even half of the stuff floating around. I was also told about several large orders and an entire Container that was stolen or lost filled with Tour Issue equipment and other TM products. That still doesn't account for the amount of Tour Issue product on the market and also all the clubs given to Tour reps doesn't add up to what is floating around on the market. The problem seems to be at the Factory in China and employees of the factories making side cash and the only way to stop it is to manufacturer in the USA which is virtually impossible. They did express displeasure with BSG because Todd is saying the TP line is different than the Tour Issue and that Tour stuff is Superior which is not the case. I had them swear that the TP line is exactly the same as the Tour even face material the only differences could be the rat glue, foam, different weighting and face angles done in the tour van. For those of you who bought a Tour R7 over the TP....Im sorry there is no one higher in the company I can ask than the Pres, VP, and head designer and I was told that its 100% the same. Someone has been taking us for a ride. I also asked why they don't use Miura anymore for their forgings and was told Miura is way to small to handle the orders Taylormade requests and that currently ZERO TM irons even Tour Issues are made by Mirua. I could have sworn I read otherwise on another forum :-) The new 440cc R7-XR is not the Prototype Dual adjustable that Michelle Wie is playing. It is a totally different in shape and is made with different face materials. I learned that all the Japanese TM drivers have SP700 faces while the U.S specs don't. This is due to the fact that SP700 can be made much hotter and that Japan needs this due to its .86 C.O.R regulations. When I asked what can Tourspecgolf do to help Taylormade, they said if we could spread the truth about Tour Issue equipment because to many untrue lies are floating around and people are getting burned. They put me in contact with the Head designer and guy in charge of the Tour reps so that I can have better information and help them clear up the confusion. Look forward to a very interesting update. Hope you enjoyed the info. R7 FW....yes its adjustable! R7-XR ladies R7-XR Series R360 series!
February 27, 200519 yr comment_81394 Any sole pics of the R7 FW? And this is just an assumption, but will the 360XD be coming to NA in a conforming head? Thanks Jer
February 28, 200519 yr comment_81421 Any idea on a price (either US dollars or yen) for the r7 fairway wood?
February 28, 200519 yr comment_81422 Thank you for the great information and pics. Would love to go to the Japan Golf Fair sometime!

March 1, 200519 yr comment_81791 Taylormade has the new R7 XR driver (and irons in the with the driver) on it's Japanese web-site: http://www.taylormadegolf.com/japan/compan...ite/c_s_map.asp I can't read Japanese, but I was able to determine that the shaft is an ultra-lite, 45/46 gr. model. Can anyone tell me the suggested retail price on that site in US Dollars?

I've already been banned there twice... Its a pain in the ass changing ip addresses so i can create a new account and log on again.
March 1, 200519 yr comment_81955 From what I could see on the TM Japan website, it seems that the R7 XR driver is suitable for average skilled players with high swing speeds. Seems like me. But when I took the "Find the Best driver for me" test I was pointed to the R7 driver. Hm...

First, do the .83 r7 Japan heads also have SP7000 faces? Is there any rumor on releasing the R7 Shallow & R5 Dual TP to retail this year. Finally, any word on a Monza VT centershaft. BTW, great report & truly awesome pics!!!

March 11, 200519 yr comment_84201 Thanks for clearing up, Chris. Good thing, I'm not a big fan of Taylor Made. But nonetheless, it's excellent info for educated buyers like TSGers. cheers
March 14, 200519 yr comment_84631 TSG HO, Thought I'd say, thanks so much for clearing up the fact on the Retail TP and Tour Issue TPs. This guy on Ebay was blowing my head off for saying they were exactly the same. I found an article buried deep within the USGA website and it was the senior writer of USGA who said this himself and this guy blew me with an email saying " Its amazing what they do to make you beleive". Best part was him writing me an 'essay' about why "Tour Issue" clubs were different and "Better" and more solid and made of different materials and had 2mm lower center of gravity. lol. The bestest part was that he even had the guts to lead me to this site as proof! Amazingly, I found the opposite... You know who you are! :smile1: Thank you for it, Now i'm sure they're hiding deep....very very deep....
March 20, 200519 yr comment_86186 Do the R7 XR Irons have a titanium face? And price with Mas 50 Shafts (3-PW)?
July 2, 200519 yr comment_98560 The 3. Japan has a VT center shaft coming in April[/b] The VT center shaft looks great! How much?
July 2, 200519 yr comment_98593 Good info. I only wish my friend had gone on ebay and bought an R7 Max faced driver. I saw it on the Japan site a while ago and told him about it. We went on ebay and found one that we could get but his parents wouldn't let him. He got a normal R7 instead. He hits it long now, it'd make me sick to see how far he'd hit a Non-Conforming driver. By the way, how much more extra distance can you get out of a non-conforming driver? I've always been curious as to how far they would hit.
