TM RAC CB or new Miz's??

Jamesons

Recommended Posts

I play 33's right now and interested in some new toys. Interested if anyone has played the RAC CB's (specifically tour issue)? How did they play? I'm sure at least a handful of you in here have played them at some point. Either that or I'm looking into new Mizuno's. Nothing against Mizuno been playing for 6+ years. Looking for some excitement. Thanks, JS

Jamesons,

I played MP-33s for about 4 years. In my opinion there is no forging as soft as a Mizuno MP-33. I currently play TM tour issue satin RAC cb/mbs...the combo set is not quite as soft but is slightly more forgiving. I have TT TC shafts in the TM set and had standard Rifles in the MP-33s.

I have found no appreciable difference in distance , ball flight or ability to work the ball between the two sets. I just wanted to experiment a little, too.

I hit the MP-32s at a demo day and found them to be more forgiving for my typical misses than the 33s. I also like that the blade seems a little shorter from heel to toe and the tip line is a little thicker. I hit the 32 side by side with the Callaway X-Tours and liked the Mizunos much better.

I would hit both the 32s and TM cbs before buying.

I played the Tour Rac CB's on and off for 2 years. They're still one of the best feeling irons I ever played.. Mizuno's are very nice also..But for me--it was the TM's.

Thanks everyone. I am not displeased with my 33's, but I fortunately and unfortunately hit the ball high. I have never had a problem with getting a high trajectory. I am looking to get to a mid or mid-high trajectory that I can control a little more especially in the wind. I have been eyeing the 32's and even the 37's and 30's. I know they are all different when you get into the nitty gritty, but hey that's what we do. Having the custom Mizuno option is pretty sick though. Thanks everyone. -JS

If you want new excitement have your MP-33s bent to the MP-37 specs. The 33s have 1 or 2 degrees weaker lofts, have em adjusted and save yourself some green.

If you want to lower you ball flight you probably won't accomplish this with the RAC's. I used to own a set of RAC CB/MB's and they were nice but I am much happier with my MP 37's. If you want a lower trajectory, the Miz's are easier to use to accomplish this. You can also strengthen the lofts on your 33's by 2 degrees.

high trajectory with the blades may be a function of your swing. Try experiemnting with different shot shaping techniques to lower trajectory, maybe more knockdown style shooting. I'm no pro, but this helped me bring my trajectory down when it was too high, now its second nature.

what type of shafts do you have in them?

if you love the club, dont move to something else. It's fun experiemnting and testing, but if what you've got is good, there is really no point in leaving it. You will find that you just wasted the money :money:

case in point: i liked my cobra irons, but i needed to graduate to a better set to improve my game. many were skeptical, saying i would lose distance, and struggle because the irons i have now are not nearly as forgiving. My first round matched my cobra average, but since then i have only improved, and now i have much greater feel and control.

if you like the clubs that much, and they are not holding you back, i would say stick with them.

Currently playing DGS300 Sensicore. Had the rifle 6.0 in another set of 33's about a year or so ago and couldn't hit them as well as the DG. I think they were too stiff. I am getting on a launch monitor within the next couple of weeks to get my updated swing information. Then, going to compare to other shafts. Once I do that it should help show me know what's up...or hopefully what helps bring it down! -JS

Jamesons,

the Racs are a great club no question about it. But for the amount of

customs you can get, I'd go with Mizunos...check out the Mizunos Japan fair thread Chris posted. Awesome clubs!

huh are you saying the mizuno customs are cheaper, if you are considering buying retail rac cbs...they are about 1/3 of the price of a set of miuno customs from japan....(hehe i have a set for sale !)

Jamesons,

I would say you ougt to consider calling Chris and treat your self a custom satin nickel finish Mizuno. You can basically order any combo of Mizuno products.

You can order a long iron cavity back ( maybe MP30 ) and short iron MP37 for better trajectory control. Have them w/ DGS300 and specified what spec you want them to be, I'm sure you'll be a very happy man at the end.

Expensive but IMO it's well worth the trouble if you know what you exactly want.

Good luck!

That's why you are all here. Nice sanity check. I agree with everyone. I'm sure the TM's are good clubs, but come on. Custom Zuno's. Nothing like em. I have played Mizuno for 6+ years how can I leave now. They've treated me well.

Chris, you'll have to wait though. We're talkin' a little different price tag.

Joe, I like the 30-37 combo. What 30's in the 2-5 or 6 then 37's on up? I like that idea. You're right, nice satin finish would be bad ass.

Thanks for being so kind to the newbie! -JS

I even probably do MP27 on a 3 and 4 iron , 5,6,7 w/ MP30 and 8,9,PW w/ MP37.

Or if you are a high ball hitter and prefer a players club profile, you can just do 3-6 or 7 MP30 and 7 or 8 - PW MP 37.

Or you can even do 3-6 or 7 MP32 and 7 or 8 - PW MP 37 or MP33.

Basically, Mizuno custom dept will do anything you want as long as the logo of Mizuno is on the club.

For me I probably like to see a solid M logo on the toe and number on the sole. That is it nothing else on the head.

Good Luck!

ps: And after that send them to me for blueprinting. :surprize:

know what would be flat out deadly

a set of mp-32 in a gunmetal finish. I can picture them in my head, makes me drool. :surprize:

i love the look that vijay has with the gunmetal cg1, dont know why other companies dont offer. gunmetal mizuno would be awesome. A set of gunmetal taylormade blades would be hot too. Imean look at their black wedge, very nice looking. A whole set of similar blades, thats badass.
