apex523
I have a r510 tp that has a loose weight cartridge. Whenever i swing and hit the ball, the weight comes loose. Should I call TM about this..... Any advice?
zojo
you might be able to take it out and just super glue it back on, don't think it would change the swing weight that much
ga_pike
i have heard of others who have used shaft epoxy to resecure their weights. there are rumors of 510s that people have changed the weights in as well. again, i hear they use standard shafting epoxy to secure it. you can also get a clear 5-minute epoxy for about $3 from Devcon. it comes in a squeeze mixing tube and seals so you dont waste it after one use. I used it to secure the "fil-m-ups" in my 2 ball putter. you can get it from Grainger Industrial Supply (my work)... but any home improvement store should have something similar. MrParr1noid
As I understand it, weight ports are installed by using two sided clear tape and pressing them in. I don't see why you couldn't use regular grip tape, cut it to size, wet with solvent and slip your weight port in and then secure until the solvent dries. Just another thought. :tired:
yogi
I have used a few dropps of shaft epoxy and never had a problem since. I would reccommend you use a q-tip and dab it in the opening then pushing the weight in. If you put it on the weight and then push it in it seems to get a bit sloppy. FYI. Good luck, G :smile1:
pitbull808
Before you epoxy it, make sure you clean out the cavity. I was told that many of the early ones had a small bump in the cavity that caused the weights to fall out. The bump had to be ground down smooth to allow the weight to stic properly. And yes they do have different weights to put in the cavity.
tsg4tch
I'd use a tiny dab of clear caulk material. You only need to secure the weight and the caulk will allow you to pull it/change it in the future if desired. Put it in the back of the port trying not to get it on the sides. Mister64
I had a problem with a 580XD TP I bought from a private party that was swingweighting at C8.5 at 45 1/2 inches. I called Taylor Made and they gave me a return authorization number to send it back to the TM custom department. I had the club cut to 45 inches and it will return a D2 swingweight. It costs me $30. I called them today and it shipped out Friday, so it was about 3 weeks door to door. So if you want it done right, send it to TM. Good luck.
