Mizuno UX2

Recommended Posts

thanks dkats.....il def give it a go!

my 17* has had a few workout sessions and all i can say is  ! flies very straight on a good trajectory. the nspro 950 stiff feels whippy enough, but seems to play fine. the club is so pleasing to the eye, especially since it sits square and not closed. it is very easy to work and is surprizingly easy to get up in the air with such a deep face.

yet another great call from chris (tourspecgolfer)...thanks .....your forcing me into a severely sweet set up!

Is it just me or does the UX2 not have the distint "click" sound on flush shots that the CLK has?

I agree, The CLK had a "click" that felt kinda cheap where as the UX2 has a sound/feel similar to mini steel driver.

I got a 17, 20, and 23. The verdict is in on the 17; it's a keeper. It's very long, easy to get in the air (but not ballooning), and dead straight. It's better for me than my Hogan 17 degree, a previous Callaway Heavenwood, or a Nickent Genex 3DX 17 degree in terms of accuracy, distance, and ease of hitting. I still have to do a few more range sessions on the 20 and 23 vs. my Hogan CFT 21 and 24's before I'm ready to make that call for sure.

thanks faq.....even if it was a heavy raphite?

or even would i be able to change it from the nippon 950gh to say a px ?

Project X... Those are steel as is the NS950. You can change from steel shafts to steel shafts. Re: heavy graphite, you can do anything that you want however it's not recommended. It would be better to just buy a graphite head.

Follow up; the 17 and 20 are now firmly in the bag. I've got to work a little on the 23 to get the distance worked out. It hits a little farther than my 24 Hogan, so I'm going to have a little gap in distance between the 23 Mizuno and my 28 degree Bridgestone J33 Combo 5 iron. I think I'll just learn to play a grip down/choke up shot with the 23 degree Mizuno to bridge the distance gap, but that's going to take a bit of work to calibrate.

Overall, I can give rave reviews on the MP UX 2's with the Nippon shaft. The shaft kicks very well, but still has great control.

Thanks, Chris.

Longer Term Follow Up on the Mizuno MP UX 2's

I've now had them and played regularly with them for a couple of months, and they are all firmly in the bag. I got the 17, 20, and 23 with the Nippon R flex shafts and now that I have the feel of the shafts and swingweight these clubs are sweet feeling, long, and accurate. The soles are versatile, the face feels hot, and they are attractive in a conservative, understated, classy sense.

Thanks again, Chris, for great service and a great product. Kudos!!

Chris or others. If I play my Mizuno irons 1/2 " over, should I add 1/2" to my ux2's with Nippon shafts. I was told this was easy to do by adding to butt end of club. What are pros/cons of doing this. Thanks

That might be a good idea as Japan standard is already a quarter of an inch shorter. I say go for it, these are the best hybrids I have ever owned and I have had quite a few.

I've also got a question or two for Chris or others on this forum.

1. I play reg shaft in my fairway woods but stiff Dynamic Gold in my Miz MP-30 irons. What flex is recommended for the UX-2?

2. I'm looking to replace my 3 iron. Is the 20* or 23* best suited?

Thanks guys. I'm a newbie in Sydney, Australia and we only have the CLK available to us here but since I like to be a bit different, am loooking to buy the Ux-2. By the way, does anyone or Chris have a picture of the headcover that comes with it? I really like the look of the CLK cover and was wondering if its the same type.

Regards, George...
