ms4awd
I was just looking for any input on whcih Nippon 1150 flex will be similar to PX 6.0 stiffness wise. I plan on using PX on one set and an equivalent NIppon 1150 in another. I have been informed prior that the Nippon 1150 X flex will be similar to PX 6.5. I have read that NIppons have a tendency to play weak to flex a bit. Any input is appreciated. thanks

stevopagolf
I really like Nippon shafts for one. I feel they do play about a half flex softer, but they are so smooth that it does not make a huge difference you do not get the balloon or hook normally with a too soft shaft. I have the 1150 Tour in Didier Li's old I-404 Srixon's. They are a great combo. I hit a high ball with any shaft. These, combined with the head, tended to smooth out the trajectory. Still high with all clubs...I hit all my irons on a pretty identical trajectory...I can bring it down. I have also hit the 6.0 rifles. These play between the 5.5 and 6.0 in my opinion. As with all Nippon's they favor a swinger ( a smoother tempo, think Els) vs. a hitter. Nothing to do with swing speed, but more how you go after the ball. My 2 cents worth. BTW Didier (Aka Taipan Li) the Srixon's are staying.... the dilemna now is which irons to sell....the 2005 RAC CB TP's with DG S300 or the MR-23 US Spec with the S200's.... Opinions welcomed. Stevo Great to see the i404s will be staying - very surprised not to have come across anyone else playing them. I wasn't lying in the Ebay listing when I said they're probably one of the very best forged CBs ever made. Considering how fast TM introduce new products, I'd say sell the TPs while they're still current. The MR-23s will hold their value better imo. gus
I'm playing the 1150's in my new custom MP-37's and love them. I'm a three handicap and long time S300 guy. It takes a few minutes to adjust to the lighter feeling shaft but they win you over in the end. I was worried about this shaft selection when I dropped $1300 bucks on these irons but it didn't take long to realize these are superior. I'm playing the stiff flex and they are very similar to the DG's but much more consistant and plush. I'm not having any problems with ball flight either. This shaft is much tigher than the earlier models. If you like S300's you will love the 1150's! I played in the Nationwide tour Pro-Am in Cleveland and the Pro's showed a lot of interest in this shaft/iron combo...

gus
Sorry for the delay, out of town on business. In regards to the ball flight, as advertised initially the launch angle is a bit greater but it flattens out and ends up being very close but with greater distance. I clearly believe these shafts are longer than DG's ans much more supple. Again, if you like the 300's you will adjust to these no problem... I suggest the 1150 in Stiff for you if your a big fan of the PX6.0 as I was. The 1150 is the best shaft I have hit to date, Its got good weight, it doesnt hit to high and just feels great. I suggest this shaft for those who didnt care for the 850, 950, or 1050. I didnt get along to well with those three but so happy I gave the 1150 a chance. If anyone needs them I got um shaft only. acrazygolfer
Chris, How much for a set of 1150 stiff? Thx.
plus1
the s300s would be classified in the same league of shafts, however i believe with the 1150s you will get much greater feel from the shaft ie you will get a great kick, with much more distance but most importantly no loss of accuracy and all in all more enjoyment.........IMO a sweeetly stuck nippon cannot be beaten.
+TourSpecGolfer
Chris,How much for a set of 1150 stiff? Thx. 27.50 each shaft + shipping. If you can find shafts only at a lower price from a dealer I will price match them or better it.
