Posted September 27, 200519 yr comment_103867 Folks, There are only two choice left for my new iron selection list: 1) PRGR 910 with DG S200 (since ns pro shaft is not available) 2) Srixon I-505 with NS Pro 950GH so, anyone out there who can give me some quick review or suggestion of each set? Thanks! ----------------------------- Callaway FT3 tour 9.5 with Diamana 63 S shaft 3 Wood: Titleist 980F 13 Taylor Made dual TP 19 PRGR TR Speed Iron 3-PW, AW, & SW with Rifle 6.0 Scotty prototype
September 27, 200519 yr comment_103874 in my opinion, it has to be the srixon i505s... even though i have hit neither i have been around here a long time and have heard review after review that the japan srixons are quality! They should beat the prgr in terms of forgiveness and definately beat them in terms of looks.

 thanks +1, I think your are right, one more thing here, how do you compare DG S200 vs others (rifle 6.0 or ns pro 950)? kindly advise, thanks!
September 28, 200519 yr comment_103894 Nope, exactly the opposite. I previously played with I-302's being a major Japan Dunlop ho. I switched to PRGR Model 900's IMMEDIATELY after hitting a friend's that were equipped with the M-43 steel shafts. So don't join the masses!

That's because you played the I302 which is the second line CB Dunlop was offering at the time. These irons would not excel in the feel department but if you had been using the I404 you would probably hold a different view. There is a major difference between I505 and I302.
September 28, 200519 yr comment_103918 Aluinser-Yes, never hit the I404's...weren't out at the time. I had XXIO Impact Power Face before that but was a hook, line and sinker J Dunlop ho...BS, Miz had/has nothing on them to this day IMO. But I tried a friend's TP 900's and was hooked. PRGR makes wonderful equipment and anyone would sell themselves short by not trying/considering them.
September 28, 200519 yr comment_103922 i404s rock the show ....so i reckon the i505s for sure... as for the s200s id stay these play like the like a weak stiff flex, ie similar to the nippons stiff only much heavier!

PRGR no doubt is a very good brand with very high level of quality control. If you play lights shafts they are a great choice, but for anyone looking for x-flex or heavier shafts they will be a hassle because of the need of reshafting and rebalancing swingweight etc. I reckon (personal opinion) their clubs are designed to play light.
September 28, 200519 yr comment_103991 Aluinser-No, my irons are not limited release to the best of my knowledge. Sorry about the previous typo...my irons are the TR Model 900 with stock M-43 steel shafts. Anyway, they perform far better than the I-302's with DG S300 steel shafts that I used to have...gave them to my Dad. The PRGR's look blade like but are very, very accurate and easier to hit than they look. ASSUMING newer is better, the new PRGR's may be worth a look.

Wow we really have a mixed group here, It is a tuff decision, Both Irons made in Japan both have heavy play at this moment on the JPGA tour. Here are some ups: -The PRGR Shafts are Kick Ass, M-43, M-46 etc.. They remind me of NS shafts but better than the 950 & 1050. - The PRGR's are extremely forgivng yet setup just a tad bigger than what I would call player. That alone will inspire more confidence when standing over them. - The Srixons, a new release and I have only had the 5 Iron with NS950 shaft to play around with, They remind me of the XCBs with a better shape, sole grind, feel and just all around more refined. The long Irons were super easy to hit. I cant make a decision just because I havent owned the I-505s with my favorite shafts, I have had the PRGR's and liked them a lot, in fact I have liked every PRGR Irons I have ever had. Srixons the I-404's were sweet and the I-505s should be even better... Maybe you should try the toss of a coin
September 29, 200519 yr comment_104079 lol or do what i would do and buy both then flog the set you like least! true ho style lol
September 29, 200519 yr comment_104082 Alohano, There's a set locally I have had my eye on but can't figure out the flex ratings of PRGR. Do you know what they are?
September 29, 200519 yr comment_104090 can't figure out the flex ratings of PRGR. Do you know what they are? they're by swing speed - meters/second
September 29, 200519 yr comment_104097 XXIO-they are as the other poster stated. My first try with them was with a friend's set, I hit them perfectly so I have not tried any other flexes. All-let us know what you decide!

September 29, 200519 yr comment_104121 Srixon all the way. Sorry, just a little biased....lol God Bless Jer
September 30, 200519 yr comment_104144 can't figure out the flex ratings of PRGR. Do you know what they are? they're by swing speed - meters/second I'm not good at M/S conversion. So which shaft would flex similar to a DGS300 or a PX 5.5?

So which shaft would flex similar to a DGS300 or a PX 5.5? had a 46 in the old duo driver that played weak but it might be different for the steel shafts. 43 = 96, 46 = 103

Srixons the I-404's were sweet and the I-505s should be even better... Maybe you should try the toss of a coin  folks, something I just found which I would like to share with all of you: the 9 iron loft of PRGR TR 910 is 40, and PW is 45, in which mean 910's 9 iron is about my current 7 and 1/2 iron (also PRGR TR iron in year 2001, 9 iron=44), so, here is the problem now, my 7 iron is about 160 yards, therefore, wit the new PRGR 910, with stronger loft, lighter, softer shaft, I might can hit my 9 iron 160 yeards .... :surprize: ....., so, what I am going to use within 130 yards, which's the most favor distance to attact greens .... :fever: on the other hand, Srixon I505 is one degree stronger (9 iron=43, PW=47), which might be a better choice for me since I don't have to change my current game ...... :tired: am I in the right trcck ??? anyone .....
October 1, 200519 yr comment_104231 simple if you wanna hit the irons miles get the prgr....but inevitably it will screw up your distances! on the other hand if you want to keep your game tight....ie as you know it now get the srixons! IMO id go srixons as this way you will enjoy a new set of beautiful clubs and your game will not suffer!
