sniperjoe
Hey all! This is my first post and I've only just discovered TourSpec and Japanese steel. LOL. All of the equipment made in Japan looks like better quality and it's all very tempting. Like I've read in other posts; just charge it up and hide it from the wives, right? I don't really have a problem with spending the extra money on this equipment except for the fact that I don't get to test any of it out, and how do I know what will suit my game the best. ie. Shafts, Loft, Irons, etc..... Right now, I have Mizuno MP-30's with TT Dynamic Gold S300's, MP-001 10 degree with a Fujikura Vista Pro 70 stiff flex shaft, and the MP-001 3 & 5 fairway woods with the Exsar 60 stiff shafts (stock Mizuno shafts). I also use the Yes Tracy 35" putter, which by the way is the best putter in America right now. My swing speed is between 106 to 110 mph, and gets a little quicker each year. I've been playing for 3 years now self taught and have about a 10 handicap. I plan on getting very good in this game and I think it's very possible, but in order to do that I need the best equipment possible for my game. So, there it is. I want the best equipment for my game and according to this forum, Japan is where I can find this equipment. Now, how do I begin without trying it all out. Especially the shafts! What weight, torque, kickpoint, etc...... I would really appreciate your help and thanks for your time.

matt411
Well you've come to the right place. For a good shaft fitting, I would PM Joe Kwok whose screenname is joey3108. He is an expert clubfitter and does a lot of work for a lot of guys on a couple different forums. I know it might seem a little intimitating at first, but he is very helpful and will walk you through everything. If you just want advice from us, just ask and we will do the best we can. Welcome to the site. Matt
sniperjoe
Thanks guys. Does anyone else feel weird spending this kind of cash without testing the equipment first. I'm not saying that it's not all good equipment, but when you spend this much money it would be good to buy the best fit for your game. Does everyone bother Joe Kwok about this? I guess people just already know what weight, torque, kickpoint, loft, etc.... to get, so this may not be a problem for some people. I just need to learn more about the technical aspects of golf. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Unfortunately, we don't all know what specs fit us best but we do have a pretty good idea. You are correct in saying that the hardest part is figuring out shaft specs. However, you should already have some idea of what generally suits your swing and have a rough idea what flex, kick point etc. would be best. Aside from that, you just have to buy and try! What you don't like can always be unloaded either here, Ebay or another board. Also feel free to throw any questions out in the forums. You will notice that on TSG, there is indeed a Japanese OEM focus but many of us will try anything, provided it's the best equipment available out there! :tsg_smiley_yes: Btw, judging by your numbers, I can tell you're a perfect fit for a Diamana ION S83 stiff fairway wood shaft - just so happens I'm selling one real cheap! :tsg_smilie_wink:
acrazygolfer
Taipanli is correct. Whether US OEMs or Japanese OEMs, you must have an understanding of your swing profile to fully appreciate the equipment, especially when it comes to shafts. The members here would be more than happy to answer any question you may have ... just ask. Welcome to TSG.
ramizuno13
Switch the MP-30's for the new 60's. Much better feel. The MP-001 driver is good but not our finest moment, and not with that shaft. The FW's are great with a heavier shaft. By the way, the Miz shafts are made by Miz, not by Fuji, as I am often asked that question.

Still, I'll be selling them soon - just can't help switching :tsg_smiley_embarrassed: Sorry to say I once hit the Exsar shaft and vowed never to hit another Mizuno graphite shaft ever again :tsg_smiley_no: Edited December 19, 2005 by taipanli

He has done some awesome work that nobody else could do. like put a rifle shaft into a bore through pt 3 wood.
