EdChoi
I am overseas and have a chance to pickup a dfi driver from a friend. I understand that some of these are non-conforming, I have liked the ignite very much and wondered what kind of increased performance this club has over an ignite or a sasquatch.. any input would be MOST appreciated. thanks. (is the dfi hotspot on the heel just like the ignite?) or should I just save some cash and get a retail sq tour? also which shaft is better? the ignite G (made by gd) or the diamana amorphous? This driver is a champ! Much better than the Ignite 460 yet I haven't hit it side by side against the SQ. I own an SQ with UST V2 shaft and its very easy to hit, I sold my DFI a while ago. Rumor is that in April we may see a Japan only SQ DFI with a deeper face and carbon crown, but like I said its only a rumor right now. I say got with the Ignite G shaft! bruinduke
Chris, were there any tests done by you or golf magazines in Japan comparing Hi COR drivers including the DFI? How did the DFI stack up against other hi-COR drivers? Thanks.
acrazygolfer
It is one of the hot hi-cor drivers, if not the hotest. I found the Diamana Amorphous stiff to be soft and I'd it re-shafted with a AD M65(s) and on center hit it is a bomb ... easily 20 yards more than the W-505 with the stock shaft. There is a conformed version of the DFI but it appears to be very rare as I've been looking for one with no luck. There is also a hi-cor SQ listed on the USGA.org website. Ben, do you still have yours? I should have one on the way shortly. Let's get some So Cal TSGers and have a demo day/round soon.
acrazygolfer
Will do as soon as I get over this lingering "California flu."
toshman
my next driver, better looking and hot off the face, most definitely go with the gd rather than the diamana if you are going to get a stock shaft
EdChoi
thanks for all the replies, I think I am definitely going to get one~! One question though, how do the lofts on these driver heads play? I have experience with r7 heads, r5 tp heads, and 983e/k heads... so if you can relate to what kind of launch the ignite dfi gives, i like a nice high launch, plan to probably put a diamana 63x into to give it a little more roll. I like the ballflight I get with the r5tp 9.5... thanks guys~

bruinduke
Edchoi the DFI with Diamana 63x is silly long. I was able to take mine out to the range and you really can tell the difference of the hot face. I won mine on Ebay and according to the seller it was hot melted to mute the sound. At first the sound literally hurt my ear, but after awhile I got used to the vibration in my eardrum from impact. Be careful though. I really am afraid that continued hard swings will cave the face in...
