Help me identify and find this putter

Hey all,

Once again my father has decided to send me on another quest to find a rare piece of equipment. During his asian 'mini-tour' with his pals, he saw a few people in S. Korea play with a putter that he'd never seen before. he asked some people as to where this putter could be found, but did not get the opportunity to pick one up before leaving Korea.

Now here's the puzzle I present to you all. All I have is the verbal description given to me by dad, and that it's a Korean-made putter, and only to be found in Korea (as the other people have stated). I have no manufacturer name, nor do I have the real name of the putter.

Description - It has a blade type face with two horizontal bars at angles coming out of the rear and they meet about 3" behind the putter. These bars then turn perpendicular and meet up with the shaft (which is offset btw).

The owner called it a [literal translation from korean to english], "Two Leg".

Can anyone help? I thought he wanted the 2 Bar putter by Guerin Rife so I went ahead and bought him one of those.. yeah, that wasnt it :(

Any tips or leads to the answer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Its called the "Pinch Putter" manufactured by Stonehead Golf.

The two legs prevent the face from twisting @ impact along with evenly distributing the force along the face making the whole face the "sweet spot" or so I have been told.

My old man has one and it's a decent putter. I think it really picked up a few years back in Korea.

The quality isn't exactly "Scotty Cameron" or "Guage Design" but it is quite innovative and have been told that it works well.

Hope this helps.

^ Why are they forbidden?

What are the design guidelines for putters by the USGA?

See Appendix II. I think this putter violates the rule because according to the USGA, "[The] shaft must be attached to the clubhead at the heel either directly or through a single plain neck and/or socket. The length from the top of the neck and/or socket to the sole of the club must not exceed 5 inches (127 mm), measured along the axis of, and following any bend in, the neck and/or socket."

Just ordered it. Hope to get it here shipped express in time for xmas.. and hopefully by Tuesday morning.

Don't see how this will knock his scotty out of the bag, but whatever. It's probably the least expensive gift I've purchased for him in the past 10 years.

:)
