FOURTEEN: J-Spec & V3 Wedge Pics!

Recommended Posts

The J Spec is very easy to hit. lots of sole weight makes it feel nice and head heavy. Its got that large port on its sole but the brand tells me its visual and built in to the design to not effect the CG location. They have these available pated and un plated, the unplated version looks flat light grey instead of satin.

The V3 is their new players wedge, its really somthing else, fourteen has topped their already amazingly popular 2006 wedge series with these beauties. IMO they actually did improve the product and these are one of my top picks for anyone on a wedge hunt.

Any one have extensive playing time with the Fourteens.

Any comments on the sole grind....do they suit any particular swing type (steep/sweeping) better than the other?

Are they both Endo forged?

Thanks for any and all feedback!!

I do have extensive playing time with the Fourteens. They are the best wedges I have played. Sole grind is versatile off the fairway and rough, and it spins like crazy. The feel is also quite soft. The only downside to me is that it is not so good on fluffy bunkers but then again that could be my problem as I got the 56-08 and 60-08 so bounces are pretty low. But for chipping and pitching, nothing beats the Fourteen. It checks/spins but I know exactly how it will react once getting to the green.

What model of Fourteen wedges do you play? I was wondering if the older MT-28 version is as good.

I play them too.. Mine are the plated J-Spec in 54 and 58 with Nippon NSPro Wedge Flex. (that's what is printed on the shaft)

The satin finish is nicer then the Miuras Irons I have had.. Don't take it wrong.. Miura are still my favovite irons but just want to say that the craftsmanship is as good as any I have seen.

I know that they are cast for sure.. but not sure by whom..

They are very playable and do put serious spin on the ball..

I play these in rotation to my set of Joe Kwok modified (grind and re-grooved) Vokey Oil Cans.

The Joe Kwok grind makes the Vokeys a bit more flexible in the type of shots I want to hit but the Fourteens do feel better..

I think the most ideal would be to get J. Kwok to grind my set of Fourteens.. but the potential problem is that they are very light swingweight at D1.. so further grinding will lightened it too much...

Definitely worth a try..
