corky3
What is the weapon 'du jour'??...... of ones I've seen/hit of late, I'm liking the Titleist, but am interested in alternatives. I'm falling out ot love with my 2-iron and due to work commitments blaha blah not playing enough and therefore swinging well enough to hit it right now. Plus after a weeks golfing in the Portugese Algarve, I know I need something with a higher traj/softer landing. Thanks to anyone chiming in! Phillip Alexander
I like my Mizuno UX2. Just my 2 cents worth.

daamartin
More of a driving iron, but an oldie and a goodie - PRGR040i. Minimal offset, huge sweetspot. I'm still looking for a #3/19degree if anyone has one!
unclekent
I second the endorsement of the Mizuno UX2, have in a 20 degree and I get a nice penetrating shot, I switched the Nippon 950 for a Fuji Bonzai stiff and it made a noticable difference, I get just the right amount of kick (with a 42 m/s driver swing speed) and it goes long and straight for me, best hybrid I have hit. corky3
Thanks so far...... anyone any experience of the TS F/UT?........ I remember sometime ago NicKents were popular, are they still?
gocchin
If you want high and easy to hit, and you like TS, the new ViQ utilities are SOOOO easy to hit. Ditto for the G-field ones if you can find one. Other easy utilities with high trajectory are the XXIO and Srixon utilities. The Td+ and X-UT and Fourteen UT-106 are also great but with slightly lower trajectory.
Duffer19
There are two school of design for utilities, one being fairway wood like and the other more iron like. The fairway like would be your xxio, G-field and ViQ etc and the iron like would be your miz, RC-Td, Tour Edge and the likes. If you have trouble with longer irons, go with the FW like Utilites, and if working the ball with your irons is your forte, then go with the iron like utilites. There are good and bad with both designs. I would stay away from Royal collection Td if one is a higher handicap player.

Pics at address would be v.useful
gocchin
Woody type are definitely the G-Field, Tourstage ViQ, XXIO and Srixon. I'll get you some pics when my scanner gets up and running tonight, though you can see stock photos in the pro shop.

Dicksy
if its high flight, soft landing and straight as an arrow you're looking for then look no further than the Cleveland Hi-bore.....
shoe295
Thanks so far...... anyone any experience of the TS F/UT?........ I remember sometime ago NicKents were popular, are they still? I have an FUT 19* that I used last year and for a hybrid it's very very solid. I'm just not able to hit hybrids well at all, having tried several others. It's not hard to work the ball with this, and it will land reasonably soft, especially compared to long irons. Rough, fairway, or tee this club plays well. Unfortunately I can't seem to get my little teeny brain around what it takes to hit this so I'm switching to a 20* FW. But if you can hit a hybrid this is one of the good ones. If you are a low handicapper, go with TS and if you are a mid handicapper, go with XXIO which is stupid easy. Nickent was popular once but probably not with this set (JDM nuts.) ajaykkr
The Royal collection TD is an absolute rocket off the tee with very tight dispersion...... I am very impressed.. it kicked the gfield out of the bag.... I now have got hold of the TD+...... and noticed that the head size of the TD+ is 60% of the TD.... Is the TD+ designed for a different player from those who play TD Any views?
gocchin
It's a more compact head, made for low handicap players, it's a tour type hybrid, the Td+ has a lower center of gravity for a stronger trajectory and supposedly more carry. Phillip Alexander
I liked the UX2 20* so much, I bought the 23* as well. I think the point is the hybrid revolution is here, and eventhough it was fun to crunch 1 irons when you're 17 years old, the 1 iron obsolete when you are 48 years of age.
